Background: Tricyclic psychotropic drugs are defined as a tricyclic rings of the dibenzazepine group with the presence of sulfur and nitrogen atoms. They have been prescribed for antidepressive therapy over the years. Due to their medical importance, many analytical methods have been developed for their monitoring. However, benefits of electrochemical techniques such as costeffectiveness, fast, easy operation and non-destructiveness make them appropriate analytical methods for drug assays. Electrochemical determinations of pharmaceuticals require suitable working electrodes. During years, many electrodes are modified by a variety of modifiers and several sensors were developed based on them. In this regard, nanomaterials, due to their remarkable properties, are one of the most important choices. Objective: Here, the application of electroanalytical methods in the determination of electroactive tricyclic psychotropic drugs will be reviewed and the nanomaterials which are used for improvements of the working electrodes will be considered.

The object of this research is the genre of occupational novel. The subject is the image of character of occupational novel. The goal consists in determination of artistic specificity of the image of character in the process of development of the genre. Russian literary works for the period of 1920’s – 1970’s united by the image of a man of labor became the material for this study. The evolution of the image of character is viewed on the sampling of representational works. The conclusions are made that at the stage of formation of the genre of occupational novel (1920’s – 1930’s) dominates the image of the reformer of the world. The next stage (1940’s – 1950’s) marks the character of the defender of reformed world. Then, in the 1960’s, it is followed by the character-rationalizer. The final chronological stage of history of the genre (1970’s) personifies the image of a young hero-seeker, defined by the professional calling in life. The scientific novelty consists in reference to the genre of occupational novel in its entire evolution from the perspective of philological instrumental analysis, while the earlier studies were characterized by political bias. The genre of occupational novel is separated from the literary trends of the XX century, and is divided into historical periods. The article suggests a systemic analysis of the image of character of occupational novel within the framework of evolution of the genre. The author is firs to highlight the key artistic attributes that represent an artistic dominant for the image of character at each stage of development of the genre.

Abstract Background This paper presents the application of polyglycine-modified graphene paste electrode (PGMGPE) for the electrochemical detection of Hg (II) and Pb (II) ions in the water and biological samples. Method The developed electrode was characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy. Electrochemical techniques such as cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry were used to study the behavior of metal ions. Results The modification process improves the electrochemical behavior of heavy metal ions. The peak current varied linearly with the increase of the concentration leading to a detection limit of 6.6 μM (Hg (II)) and 0.8 μM (Pb (II)), respectively. Conclusion The developed electrode exhibits good sensitivity, selectivity, stability, and lower detection limit, and was successfully applied to the determination of heavy metal ions in water and biological samples with a good recovery range.

Abstract Background Stability indicating determination of pharmaceuticals is crucial, especially for drugs which have few published official analytical methods. Silodosin (SLD) is an FDA approved α1A-adrenoceptor blocker. Objective Efficient analytical methods were suggested, based on different instrumental techniques for quantification of SLD, besides conducting kinetic investigation of its degradation. Methods The first method is based on Reversed Phase High Performance Liquid Chromatography with Photodiode Array Detector (RP-HPLC-PDAD). Detection is done at wavelength 225 nm. The second method is focused on using High Performance Thin Layer Chromatography (HPTLC) and eluting the drug by solvent mixture followed by scanning at wavelength 270 nm. The third method depends on the First Derivative Synchronous Fluorescence Spectroscopy (1DSFS) for analysis of solutions of SLD and its acid and oxidative induced degradation products at Δλ = 90 nm, then determining the first derivative of the spectra and measuring peak amplitudes at 360 nm. Results Acceptable linearities were found in the concentration range of 0.50–90 μg/mL, 0.10–3.0 μg/band, and 0.05–0.50 µg/mL, for RP-HPLC-PDAD, HPTLC, and spectrofluorimetric methods, respectively. Conclusion Statistical analysis showed no significant difference between the suggested and the reported method. In monitoring the kinetics of SLD degradation, the order of reactions was determined and effects of degrading agent concentration and temperature on reaction rate were studied. Highlights Three analytical methods were developed for the determination of SLD based on RP-HPLC-PDAD, HPTLC, and 1DSFS in bulk and capsule dosage form. In addition, kinetic investigation of SLD degradation was performed using the developed RP-HPLC-PDAD method.
