The issue of human abilities is widely discussed in the field of psychological literature . It has been developed within specific theories as well as therapeutic practices. In the context of modern positive psychology human abilities are placed within the framework of a continuum including the understanding of them as fixed and unchangeable in time, and at the other end of the same continuum is the conviction that they can be improved and developed by making certain efforts. In the second understanding challenges and difficult situations are an integral part of the way towards the realization of the purposes and serve as a springboard for learning new things and for personal growth. The perception of the idea that competencies and skills are determined by biological laws has to do with the desire to avoid risk and failure as well as with a desire for continuous confirmation of current developments. Uncertainty is the factor responsible for choosing not to endeavour and the one which not lead to a different result. According to Carol Dweck someone’s self-acceptnce has significant impact on the choice of a way of living. It is clear that a conviction may have the power to transform an individual's perception of the world. The idea of human abilities can be viewed in the context of the development of character strengths. These are the human competencies in which the implementation of an activity is carried out with ease and leads to a feeling of satisfaction and value. The development of strengths positively correlated with wellbeing and meaning. Leading life according to personal values and goals selected corresponding to individual’s strengths have positive impact on the psychological and physical health. Due to the fact that the understanding of the abilities is formed in early childhood the emphasis in modern educational practices was placed on individual skills and traits to be identified and encouraged. An essential aspect in these two theoretical paradigms is the fact that someone’s self-acceptance as well as the development of strengths are relevant to all other areas of life, i.e. there are a transfer of these skills in areas such as professional commitment, personal life, hobbies, etc. Everyone has his/her own strengths but not everyone has differentiated them. When recognized, the path to their development should go, so that the activities of the individual correspond to the most prominent skills and competences. The set of 24 character strengths includes spheres such as spiritual life, good-heartedness, curiosity, justice. Related to Carol Dweck’s theory we may conclude that they have the powr to change some strategies used in interpersonal relationships as well as in the school environment.

Connectedness of the school climate and perceived life-satisfaction of the Slovene youth in PISA 2018 Life satisfaction depends, on the one hand, on the subjective characteristics of the individual and on the other hand on environmental factors. The school climate is strongly connected with the adolescents' everyday experience and self-evaluation, and teachers are important adults in this environment who can enhance their feelings and beliefs. We were interested in the main predictors of life satisfaction in the school environment. The multiple regression analysis was conducted on the PISA 2018. The analysis included 4810 15-year-olds. We included seven predictors in the model: a sense of belonging to the school, the frequency of peer violence, the disciplinary climate, the teacher's enthusiasm, the teacher's support, teacher-directed instruction and the teacher's feedback. The five-predictor model explains 12.1% of the total variance in life satisfaction and is statistically significant. Adolescents are more satisfied with their lives when they experience higher school belonging, when they perceive or experience less violence from peers, when they perceive or experience support from teachers during lessons, when they receive precise instructions for their work and when they receive formative feedback. Key words: school climate, life satisfaction, adolescents, PISA 2018

This article examines the “predictive model of personal well-being of a teacher in the professional sphere” developed by the authors based on a study conducted on a wide sample of teachers in the Russian Federation (N=7946). The presented model is based on the VIA (Values in Action) model, one of the key measures in the scientific direction of positive psychology. In the course of the study, 14 personal strengths out of 24 in the original model, which have the greatest multiplier effect of usefulness for personal well-being in the professional sphere of education were identified. Personal well-being in the professional sphere is described as a set of personal factors, including, first of all, high self-efficacy of the individual and the absence of professional burnout, and secondly, the individual’s general psychological well-being represented by life satisfaction and self-esteem. The authors believe that the resulting model can become an effective tool for the practical application of the concepts of positive psychology. On the one hand, it can be applied in the field of vocational guidance of young people. On the other hand, the model can be used as a tool for the development of professional competence of teachers in the field of personal well-being in the professional sphere, for example, in the form of selecting the most effective positive psychological interventions (PPI). The authors con clude that in the future, it is possible to scale the presented concept to other professional areas.

The aspiration for development and personal growth is one of the deepest human needs, and for most of human history it has been principally ethical issue. However, the contemporary situation of the individual striving for perfection is quite different. Forced to live in a sharply competitive society with ever-increasing demands for efficiency, speed and improvement of socio-demanded personal qualities, on the one hand, and increasing opportunities to make radical changes thanks to modern biomedical and psychological technologies, on the other, he must not only adapt to the constantly changing conditions by becoming balanced, efficient, stress-resistant, quick and determined, but also to love change and learn to turn it to his advantage. The cult of personal growth and self-improvement, which we have seen in recent decades, with the total penetration of Internet technology in our lives has taken on an unprecedented expansion. Almost every day there are new books, programs and training seminars with recipes for happiness, love, beauty, health and wealth, but a huge part of the proposed recipes for happiness consists of tips that help not everyone, and some may even cause some damage. Promises of quick and easy results, being unachievable in reality, can cause more despair, apathy and even depression. The fact is that today psychological self-help has become a huge industry that penetrates into the emotional, mental and moral life of the person, and sometimes leads not to the achievement, but rather to the loss of himself, and the idea of Self-Improvement, having become a commercial product, turns into another tool for manipulating people, forces modern man to be in an endless exhausting race for perfection.

Along with the progress of the modern era and the efforts of Chinese artists in recent years, European operatic art in China has gradually deviated from the original traditional direction towards the secondary art. Chinese artists decide to present famous works of European art on the national stage, trying, on the one hand, to preserve its traditions, and on the other, to modernize them in accordance with the individual norms of Chinese culture. Comparing the Chinese and Western versions of the pearls of opera—Turandot from the late 1980s to 2000s, we can clearly see both penetration and development of the Chinese culture in this opera and the positive impact of integration of the Chinese and the Western paradigms. Chinese performances are generally divided into two acting troupes: a foreign troup (Troup A) and a Chinese troup (Troup B). In the comparison, the best design is highlighted. The principle of respect for the original historical image of the opera plot is often ignored in Western versions, while in Chinese it is carefully observed. The visual design of the Chinese versions immerses the audience into the sequence of events, the musical expression amazing the audience. In terms of  emotional expression, the feelings of the characters in Western versions are direct, open and passionate. China is characterized by a hidden meaning, veiled in the script and music. Thus, the Western opera “Turandot” acquires an inextricable connection with the culture of China, each version having a special historical value in art.

Efforts to prevent narcotics abuse, especially for teenagers, are very necessary. bearing in mind the conditions in Indonesian society, the use of narcotics is not only committed by adults, but it’s also practiced by teenagers who are schooling. Thus, protecting young people who are still in school-age becomes an obligation that cannot be abandoned, both individuals and society. On the one hand, a lot of thoughts and efforts have been made related to the prevention of narcotics, starting from the national program that forms a special agency to deal with narcotics (National Narcotics Agency) to non-governmental organizations. However, narcotics abuse still occurs in the community, including among students. Therefore, preventive action is needed to break narcotics abuse, especially in the school environment. Forgiveness is a very important positive force that exists within a person so as not to always be trapped in a negative emotional state which can proceed to release all negative emotions such as feelings of anger, feelings of hatred, hurt and even the desire to take revenge for others. how others treat us. Forgiveness is also included in a concept contained in the study of positive psychology which according to Martin Seligman that positive psychology does not only focus on a person's weakness or mental illness but also focuses on the positive strengths possessed by each person to regulate these negative emotions into a positive emotion. One way to develop yourself is by forgiving. Forgiveness has a very important role in a person's mental health, where when an individual is having feelings of anger, hurt, disappointment, and feelings of hatred towards others, this can increase the negative emotions that exist within the individual which can later cause stress. frustration, sadness and even the desire to take revenge against someone because they have harbored these negative emotions for too long which are eventually released with revenge. Forgiveness is very important because forgiving is a way to release all negative emotions that exist in a person and when successfully released it will have positive impacts that can be felt by the person, especially the positive impact on his mental health, which forgiveness will create feelings a person becomes more relieved, feels better, and the mood becomes calmer and more comfortable, therefore forgiveness is very important to do. In the Malaysian context, after 11 years of formal education, many students still find themselves trapped in situations in which they are unable to exercise autonomouslearning skills such as taking initiative in projects, being resourceful in difficult situations, persistent in pursuing goals and flexible in selecting appropriate learning approaches. This phenomenon occurs because of the fact that Malaysian learners have been exposed ingrained with rote learning processes through the primary and secondary school systems. This study assessed the effect on Learner Autonomy Profile V3.0 (LAP) scores of a five-week coaching intervention for pre-diploma students at one university in Malaysia. Seven faculty members of University Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Kelantan were trained to serve as Certified Learner Autonomy Coaches (CLACs) and held coaching intervention sessions weekly for seven to nine students assigned to each of them for five weeks. Coaching in this higher education environment utilized scores from an instrument that was designed to elicit the extent to which respondents claim to possess behavioral intentions associated with learning. Coaches used these responses to guide the individual students through a series of steps to recognize those behavioral intentions that are most likely to undermine and those that enhance their learning efforts. The findings indicate that the student group that had undergone the coaching sessions benefited academically and the coaching interventions had a positive impact on students’ behavioral intentions to learn.

Research indicates that Positive Psychology Interventions (PPIs) in the work context have a small positive impact on improving desirable work outcomes, and a small to moderate effect on reducing undesirable work outcomes, suggesting that the effects of PPIs are not trivial, but also not large. Whereas this may be related to the difficulty of changing oneself or one’s happiness levels, the relatively small effects of PPIs may also be due to the predominant use of one-off interventions instead of more structural interventions that reflect policy level commitment. Furthermore, since most PPIs tend to focus on the individual, one could question the long-term effectiveness of such interventions, especially when the work environment remains unchanged. In this manuscript, I introduce a typology of PPIs in organizations by distinguishing between the organizational level they target (the individual or group level), and between one-off and structural interventions. I argue that different types of interventions can strengthen each other, and that to make a sustainable contribution to the optimal functioning of workers, PPIs need to comprise a wide variety of one-off and structural interventions targeting both individuals and groups in organizations. Furthermore, I make suggestions for improving the long-term effectiveness of PPIs by drawing on the literature on transfer of training, nudging, and positive design.

AbstractUsing official statistics and a pooled dataset of longitudinal surveys, the aim of this article is to examine the impact of the Individual Visit Scheme (IVS) on political trust in Hong Kong. Our multilevel analysis found that the gradual inflow of IVS visitors (mostly overnight visitors) increased political trust in the first few years, but that this trust rapidly diminished in later years, especially after the introduction of the one-year multiple-entry IVS endorsement (which attracted mostly same-day visitors). The main reason for the reduction in the positive impact of the IVS scheme is that the growth in the number of same-day visitors has contributed less to Hong Kong's economy than has the increase in the number of overnight visitors, and has exacerbated several social problems. The impact of mainland visitors has varied across groups with different levels of education. The political trust of people with a senior secondary education has been enhanced more by the increase in overnight visitors and reduced less by the increase in same-day visitors than that of people with a tertiary level of education or a junior secondary education or below.
