The aspiration for development and personal growth is one of the deepest human needs, and for most of human history it has been principally ethical issue. However, the contemporary situation of the individual striving for perfection is quite different. Forced to live in a sharply competitive society with ever-increasing demands for efficiency, speed and improvement of socio-demanded personal qualities, on the one hand, and increasing opportunities to make radical changes thanks to modern biomedical and psychological technologies, on the other, he must not only adapt to the constantly changing conditions by becoming balanced, efficient, stress-resistant, quick and determined, but also to love change and learn to turn it to his advantage. The cult of personal growth and self-improvement, which we have seen in recent decades, with the total penetration of Internet technology in our lives has taken on an unprecedented expansion. Almost every day there are new books, programs and training seminars with recipes for happiness, love, beauty, health and wealth, but a huge part of the proposed recipes for happiness consists of tips that help not everyone, and some may even cause some damage. Promises of quick and easy results, being unachievable in reality, can cause more despair, apathy and even depression. The fact is that today psychological self-help has become a huge industry that penetrates into the emotional, mental and moral life of the person, and sometimes leads not to the achievement, but rather to the loss of himself, and the idea of Self-Improvement, having become a commercial product, turns into another tool for manipulating people, forces modern man to be in an endless exhausting race for perfection.

Today, worldview, spiritual and moral problems that have always been reflected in education and upbringing come to the fore in society. In this situation, there is a demand for philosophical categories. One of the priority goals of education in modern conditions is the formation of a reasonable, reflexive person who is able to analyze their actions and the actions of other people. Modern science is characterized by an understanding of the absolute value and significance of childhood in the development of the individual, which implies the need for its multilateral study. In the conditions of democratization of all spheres of life, the child ceases to be a passive object of education and training, and becomes an active carrier of their own meanings of being and the subject of world creation. One of the realities of childhood is philosophizing, so it is extremely timely to address the identification of its place and role in the world of childhood. Children's philosophizing is extremely poorly studied, although the need for its analysis is becoming more obvious. Children's philosophizing is one of the forms of philosophical reflection, which has its own qualitative specificity, on the one hand, and commonality with all other forms of philosophizing, on the other. The social relevance of the proposed research lies in the fact that children's philosophizing can be considered as an intellectual indicator of a child's socialization, since the process of reflection involves the adoption and development of culture. Modern society, in contrast to the traditional one, is ready to "accept" a philosophizing child, which means that it is necessary to determine the main characteristics and conditions of children's philosophizing.

Human needs have their own hierarchy and are significantly dependent on the lifestyle of the individual. They are also culturally conditioned. The satisfaction of one’s needs determines the level of human existence and location of a person in social structures as well as individual preferences. Taking care of the body, in our world, can be understood in two ways. On the one hand it is a socially postulated custom encouraging to participate in a physical culture and on the other hand it is an act of individual choice. The latter marks the attitude towards physical affection as a need. Body kindness must be taught by showing its value. This is to be done, among others, by physical education as an organised pedagogical process.

The issue of human abilities is widely discussed in the field of psychological literature . It has been developed within specific theories as well as therapeutic practices. In the context of modern positive psychology human abilities are placed within the framework of a continuum including the understanding of them as fixed and unchangeable in time, and at the other end of the same continuum is the conviction that they can be improved and developed by making certain efforts. In the second understanding challenges and difficult situations are an integral part of the way towards the realization of the purposes and serve as a springboard for learning new things and for personal growth. The perception of the idea that competencies and skills are determined by biological laws has to do with the desire to avoid risk and failure as well as with a desire for continuous confirmation of current developments. Uncertainty is the factor responsible for choosing not to endeavour and the one which not lead to a different result. According to Carol Dweck someone’s self-acceptnce has significant impact on the choice of a way of living. It is clear that a conviction may have the power to transform an individual's perception of the world. The idea of human abilities can be viewed in the context of the development of character strengths. These are the human competencies in which the implementation of an activity is carried out with ease and leads to a feeling of satisfaction and value. The development of strengths positively correlated with wellbeing and meaning. Leading life according to personal values and goals selected corresponding to individual’s strengths have positive impact on the psychological and physical health. Due to the fact that the understanding of the abilities is formed in early childhood the emphasis in modern educational practices was placed on individual skills and traits to be identified and encouraged. An essential aspect in these two theoretical paradigms is the fact that someone’s self-acceptance as well as the development of strengths are relevant to all other areas of life, i.e. there are a transfer of these skills in areas such as professional commitment, personal life, hobbies, etc. Everyone has his/her own strengths but not everyone has differentiated them. When recognized, the path to their development should go, so that the activities of the individual correspond to the most prominent skills and competences. The set of 24 character strengths includes spheres such as spiritual life, good-heartedness, curiosity, justice. Related to Carol Dweck’s theory we may conclude that they have the powr to change some strategies used in interpersonal relationships as well as in the school environment.

Therefore, the successful accomplishment of combat tasks of unit will directly depend on the level of competence of the individual soldier. This article presents the K. M. Meyer-Abich theory of responsibility. It discusses the essence of human responsibility as it arises especially at times of ecological crises. The circle of responsibility should be so wide as to prevent anything from existing merely for the sake of human needs. K. M. Meyer-Abich’s theory focuses on eight periods of human development, which correspond to eight circles of responsibility referring to eight ethical conceptions. Throughout human history, we can see how the scope of responsibility has been increasing to fall upon more and more entities. The extension of the circle of responsibility moved from the individual to include family and friends, the nation, all peoples of the world, and humanity as a whole, including future generations. The final step was to look beyond the boundaries of humanity to include all life forms.

Abstract: The longstanding effort to develop a people-based regionalism in Southeast Asia has been shaped by an inherent tension between the liberal inclination to privilege the individual and the community under formation, on the one hand, and the realist insistence on the primacy of the state, on the other. This article explores the conditions and constraints affecting ASEAN’s progress in remaking Southeast Asia into a people-focused and caring community in three areas: disaster management, development, and democratization (understood here as human rights). Arguably, the persistent gap in Southeast Asia between aspiration and expectation is determined less by political ideology than by the pragmatic responses of ASEAN member states to the forces of nationalism and protectionism, as well as their respective sense of local and regional responsibility.

Against the background of the trend of Islamizing human rights on the one hand, as well as increasing skepticism about the compatibility of Islam and human rights on the other, I intend to analyze the potential of Islamic ethics to meet the requirements for vitalizing the idea of human rights. I will argue that the compatibility of Islam and human rights cannot be determined merely on the basis of comparing the specific content of the Islamic moral code(s) with the rights stipulated in the International Bill of Rights, but by scanning (different conceptions of) Islamic ethics for the two indispensable formal prerequisites of any human rights conception: the principle of universalism (i.e., normative equality) and individualism (i.e., the individual enjoyment of rights). In contrast to many contemporary (political) attempts to reconcile Islam and human rights due to urgent (global) societal needs, this contribution is solely committed to philosophical reasoning. Its guiding questions are “What are the conditions for deriving both universalism and individualism from Islamic ethics?” and “What axiological axioms have to be faded out or reorganized hierarchically in return?”
