The TENS instrument is a tool as an alternative of the non-pharmacological therapies to help give birth women in dealing with pain.  There are electrodes in this tool that are useful for channeling electric wave to women’s back, that it stimulates the nerves in the area pain. The signal from TENS serves to disrupt the pain signals that affect the nerves and break the pain signal, as a result reducing patients’  pain levels. The aim of the study was to find out the effectiveness of TENS towards decreasing pain levels in the first stage of labour.  The study applied the quasi-experimental research method with the one group pre-test design approach. The population was women the first stage of labour, and samples were selected using the accidental sample technique, and five women participated in this study. Data were analysed using the dependent T test. The results of the study obtained TENS with a frequency of 108 Hz and a voltage of 82 Volt is safe to patients’ skin. There was not a significant effect of TENS to the level of pain with ρ-value 0.374. It can be concluded that the TENS instrument that designed in this study is  ineffective in managing labor pain especially the first stage. There is a need further research to test this instrument in the laboratory, and redesign it related to the instrument size and packaging. Keywords: give birth, pain, TENS

Two mathematical mindsets are two of four mathematical midsets what integrated in the technique of writing observational report text. The four mathematical mindset is the one of latest writing technique that was invented by Ayu Utami. This research aims to determine whether or not the influence of two mathematical mindset assisted skill of writing text on observational reports at 4th grade of SDN Dukuh Menanggal 1 Surabaya. Research use quantitative approach with experimental research is quasi experimental posttest-only design. Sampel in this research is student at 4thA grade as control team and 4thB grade as experiment team.T-test shows that the value of t-test count obtained is 9,860, while the t-table value at 5% significance level with degrees of freedom 37 obtained for 2,0262. This indicates that t-test count (10,794) > t-table (2,0262), so that the hypothesis accepted. The conclusion of research is two mathematical mindsets’ technique is influence assisted by skill of writing text on observational reports at 4th grade of SDN Dukuh Menanggal 1 Surabaya.

The causality issue has frequently been cited in separating correlational from experimental research methods. Unfortunately the explication of this causal dichotomy typically includes only very general statements regarding experimental controls or randomization procedures. In this investigation the implications of four assumptions underlying the fixed-effects analysis of variance design are presented in terms of the extent to which causal interpretation may be derived from that design. It is concluded that within a fixed-effects design the causality issue reduces to a complex statement of confidence which the researcher attaches to individual research findings.

Very old studies and clinical experiences of physicians already signal the ability of some patients to feel subclinical signs. These patients are called sentinel patients because they can anticipate crisis very early and therefore intervene quickly to prevent them. Studies have shown that these patients develop these skills from their own experience, in steps which are similar to quasi-experimental research. They test and adjust their competence all the more easily as they have an objective external measure available. This faculty of patients suggests the possibility of using medical devices as a means of learning for patients to tutor themselves in support of this singular skill.

<p><em>This research was conducted at TK Islam Ibnu Qoyyim, Medan Selayang District. Tthe type of research is experimental research with uses Quasi Experimental Designs. This study aims to determine the influence of Maria Montessori's learning model on the discipline of children in TK Islam Ibnu Qoyyim. The results showed that the Montessori learning model had an effect on the discipline of group A children. The results of the pretest class were 9.3 and the post-test average was 16.80 with the highest post-test 20 and the lowest post-test 12. Class control with an average pre test 9.7 and the average post test 11.7 with the highest value 16 and the lowest value 7. The results of hypothesis testing obtained t count&gt; t table is 18.31&gt; 2.048 with significant numbers. Thus the hypothesis Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted so that it is stated that there is a Significant Effect of Maria Montessori's Learning Model on the Discipline of Group A Children 4-5 Years Old in the TK Islam Ibnu Qoyyim.</em><em></em></p>

This research is entitled “The Effectiveness of Using Cooperative Script Method to Improve Students’ Reading Comprehension on Recount Text of 8th Grade Students of SMP N Kewapante, Maumere in Academic Year 2017/ 2018”. The objective of this research is to investigate and to find out whether the use of cooperative script method effective to improve students’ reading comprehension on recount text. The method of this research is experimental research especially quasi experimental research. In analyzing the data, the researcher combined both quantitative and qualitative data analysis. In qualitative data analysis, the researcher used interview technique in order to get information about students’ perceptions in reading, while in quantitative data analysis, the researcher used SPSS version 16. The result of the research showed that the implementation of Cooperative Script Method in experimental class was more effective to help the students in reading comprehension on recount text compared to the use of the conventional method in control class of the eighth grade students of SMP N Kewapante, Maumere. It is also found that cooperative script method positively contributed to improve students’ reading comprehension. Therefore ,the researcher  suggests the teachers to use cooperative script method in order to improve students reading comprehension Additionally, cooperative script method can also motivate students to be more active, relax and enthusiastic to comprehend reading texts.

Research into literacy published in journals such as the Journal of Literacy Research spans a range of disciplines and areas of study (e.g., reading, English education, composition). Even individual studies frequently take up interdisciplinary perspectives (e.g., anthropological, sociological, linguistic, educational, textual). The results are journals far ranging in their reach and rich in the knowledge they bring to literacy issues. However, such diversity of theoretical perspectives, research methods, and analytical methodologies also contributes to a confounding effect. In this article, we explore one such effect that occurs when a common term is used with different meanings. Although this may appear on the surface to be a problem easily remedied or even a rather trivial issue, in this article, we show just how consequential this practice can be when the goal is building knowledge from research that can inform practice, policy, and theory. This critical issue can be posed as a set of interrelated questions: Are we all talking about the same thing when we use words like literacy, reading, and even seemingly less resonant ones like context, the one addressed in this commentary? If we are, how do we know? And if we are not, what price are we paying for not considering the issue?
