Research abstract provides a summary of a completed research article. This study aims to classify the pattern of the rhetorical moves, identify the obligatory and optional moves, and determine the linguistic features in the research abstracts of Central Mindanao University (CMU) undergraduate students. The study used content analysis and stratified random sampling. The corpora were the research abstracts written by the CMU undergraduate students in the Academic Year (AY) 2011-2015 using Genre-based Approach and Hyland’s Framework for Abstract Analysis (2000). The study reveals that the M2-M3-M4-M5 (purpose-method-product-conclusion) pattern obtained the highest number of occurrences with 159 or 50.96%. Purpose (M2), method (M3), and product (M4) are considered as the obligatory moves because these moves appeared in all of the samples. Various linguistic features are also found. The variations of the rhetorical move patterns, diverse optional moves, and distinctive linguistic features imply that the CMU undergraduate students are unaware of the genre of writing research abstracts.

A comparison of simple random, monthly stratified and quarterly/weekly stratified sampling in content analyses of television news used annual “populations” of network newscasts. Different samples were drawn and sample statistics compared with annual parameters. Based on percentages of samples that included population means within one or two standard errors, the most efficient technique was two random days per month.

<p><em>This research is motivated by the number of students who have a tendency to behave aggressively. One of the factors that is thought to influence is the ability to manage emotions. The purpose of this study is to describe (1) the tendency to behave aggressively, (2) the ability to manage emotions, and (3) test the relationship between the ability to manage emotions and the tendency to behave aggressively in students. The population of the study was 205 students of SMP N 1 X Koto Singkarak in the July-December semester of the 2018/2019 academic year and a sample of 138 students was selected by Stratified Random Sampling. The instrument used is the Aggressive Behavior Trending questionnaire with a reliability of 0.942 and the Emotion Management Ability questionnaire with a reliability of 0.741. Data were analyzed by descriptive techniques and Pearson Product Moment. The research findings are: (1) the tendency of aggressive behavior of students in the high category, (2) the ability to manage students' emotions in the very low category, and (3) there is a significant negative relationship between the ability to manage emotions and the tendency to behave aggressively in students.</em></p>

The Errors made by students in completed math problems can be indicators of the low learning achievements. Based on these problems, this study aim to know the categories of errors and the relation or correlations of the types of errors each Polya's steps in solving the material story of system two linear equations students all grade VIII of SMP Negeri 13 Mataram academic year 2019/2020. The population in this study was all student grade VIII of SMP Negeri 13 Mataram. Samples used the Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling technique. Data collection used test essai and interview which had beenvalidated. Error categories were analyzed used interval categories of error levels and for the relation or correlations between types of errors used the Pearson product moment correlation. The results showed that students mistakes for high abilities in the low category, for the medium abilities in the high category and for the low ability level in the high category. Based on data analysis it was found three categories relationships types of errors : namely, sufficient, strong and very strong categories. The level of relationship strong enough for this type of error to understand the problem and formulate a plan, misunderstanding the problem and carrying out the plan, misunderstanding the problem and re-checking. Level of strong links to types of mistakes Arranging plans and executing plans, mistakes compiling plans and re-checking. The level relationship very strong for type error implementing the plan by checking again. When completed a problem should be solved systematically in stages to avoid mistakes that will be made at a later stage.

Jumlah perilaku seks pranikah pada remaja di Sumatera Barat sebanyak 107 kasus pada tahun 2016, 80% kasus tersebut terjadi di Kota Padang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui reinforcing factor yang berhubungan dengan perilaku seks pranikah remaja di SMA Favorit Kota Padang. Penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain studi cross sectional. Jumlah sampel sebanyak 547 yang diambil dengan cara proportional stratified random sampling. Data dikumpulkan dengan kuesioner dan dianalisis secara univariat, bivariat, dan multivariat dengan regresi logistik metode kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus, informan sebanyak delapan siswa dan delapan guru bimbingan konseling. Pengumpulan data dengan wawancara mendalam, analisis menggunakan thematic content analysis. Lebih dari setengah responden memiliki perilaku berisiko. Hasil bivariat menunjukan ada hubungan signifikan antara peran guru (p = 0,025), peran teman sebaya (p =0,0001), peran orang tua (p= 0,012) dan tidak ada hubungan peran tenaga kesehatan (p = 0,075) dengan perilaku seks pranikah remaja. Analisis multivariat menunjukan variabel yang dominan berhubungan adalah peran teman sebaya (p= 0,0001, Exp(B)=2,743) setelah dikontrol dengan predisposing factor (pengetahuan, sikap, dan religiusitas) dan enabling factor (paparan media massa). Variabel yang paling berhubungan dengan perilaku seks pranikah remaja adalah peran teman sebaya. Disarankan kepada remaja lebih selektif dalam memilih teman yang membawa ke dampak positif dan dapat menyaring informasi dengan baik mengenai perilaku seksual pranikah dari teman sebayanya.

In writing a research article, the introduction seems to be the hardest part to write. In fact, many research articles are found to have insufficient introduction, lacking some important elements of a quality introduction. Hence, this study was conducted to assess through content analysis the quality of the introduction of published articles authored by researchers in Mindanao. Fifty samples were analyzed based on the widely accepted standards for writing the introduction. Descriptive statistics was used in the analysis of the data. Findings reveal that most of the introduction samples had missing elements of a quality introduction. The most missed out element was a statement establishing a gap to indicate academic importance, followed by a statement of the practical importance of the study and general statement of the problem of the study. As to the structure of the introduction, most of the samples followed the standard structure, proceeding from general to specific statements. The findings imply that many published research articles by researchers in Mindanao have introductions that do not meet the standards for writing quality introduction, hence the need to reorient researchers to the basics of writing a good introduction.Keywords – Research writing, introduction, writing research introduction, elements of the introduction, content analysis, Philippines

This study reports linguistics problems in an essay writing by EFL undergraduate students.  This study used content analysis design assigning 10 essay writing manuscripts for analysis.  The 10 essays available for writing assignment were used as data sources.  The study revealed that: linguistics problems appeared in terms of: syntax, sentence, grammar, tenses, and agreements.  Essentially, the linguistic features in writing cover mastery on the rules of grammar.  Four aspects of linguistic features are: syntax, grammar, vocabulary, and mechanics.  Sentence problems, i.e. fragment, choppy, run-on, and stringy sentences, that is usually integral to syntactic and grammar problems are introduced.

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini merupakan penelitian ex-post facto yang bertujuan untuk menentukan hubungan antara literasi sains dengan prestasi belajar peserta didik pada pembelajaran kimia kelas XI MIPA SMA Negeri Se-Kota Makassar tahun pelajaran 2017/2018. Populasi penelitian sebanyak 1734 peserta didik dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 391 peserta didik. Teknik pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan menggunakan proportionate stratified random sampling. Pengambilan data penelitian menggunakan instrumen tes literasi sains dan data prestasi belajar peserta didik berupa nilai rapor mata pelajaran kimia semester genap tahun pelajaran 2017/2018. Data penelitian menggunakan analisis korelasi Pearson. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa literasi sains memiliki hubungan positif dengan prestasi belajar peserta didik dengan tingkat korelasi sedang. Kata kunci  : literasi sains, prestasi belajar.   ABSTRACTThe study is ex-post factor research, which aims to determining the correlation between scientific literacy toward students’ learning achievement on chemistry learning of grade XI MIPA at SMAN (public senior high schools) in Makassar of academic year 2017/2018. The Population of the study were 1734 students and the samples were 391 students obtained by employing proportionate stratified random sampling technique. Data were collected using instruments of scientific literacy test, and sata of students’ learning achievement was obtained from report score of Chemistry subject of academic year 2017/2018. Data were analyzed by using Pearson correlationanalysis and multiple regression analysis. The result of the study reveal that the scientific literacy has positive correlation toward students’ learning achievement with correlation. Keywords: scientific literacy, learning achievement.

Purpose to Study Factors Affecting on the Preserving Thai culture of Undergraduate students in Thailand National Sports University. The Subjects of 210 were Stratified Random Sampling from undergraduate students of Thailand National Sports University Chonburi Campus in Academic Years 2019. The Data were then analyzed in terms of Pearson Correlation amd Stepwise Multiple Regression Analysis. The factors which could the Preserving Thai culture of Undergraduate students in Thailand National Sports University comprised these 4 variables: Participating in Cultural activities with educational institutions, Cultural data sources, Attention and valuableness of culture and Cultural information perception.These 4 factors could predict the Preserving Thai culture of Undergraduate students in Thailand National Sports University about percentage of 72.30. The significantly predicted equations were as follows: In term of raw scores were: Y/ = -.593 + .398 (X6) + .318 (X4) +. 273 (X3) + .166 (X5) In term of standard scores were: Z/Y = .392 (ZX6) + .258 (ZX4) +. 254 (ZX3) + .143 (ZX5)

A content analysis of 20 student conduct codes identified through stratified random sampling was performed to determine the extent to which legal terminology had been eliminated, as suggested by judicial affairs experts. The results showed that 80% of the codes selected in this study still contained some legal terms. These words and phrases are identified and appropriate substitutes are recommended. When type and size of institutions were examined, the authors found that private and smaller institutions were more likely to have removed more of this language from their codes than other types of institutions.

AbstrakProkrastinasi berdampak pada prestasi akademik, maupun kesehatan mental. Meskipun pemaafan termasuk dalam atribut psikologi positif, bukti mengenai hubungan antara pemaafan dan prokrastinasi mengesankan adanya pertentangan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji hubungan antara pemaafan dan prokrastinasi akademik pada mahasiswa. Terdapat 127 mahasiswa sarjana dari Program Studi Ilmu Gizi, Fakultas Kedokteran, Universitas Diponegoro, Indonesia, yang terpilih sebagai subjek penelitian menggunakan teknik stratified random sampling. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan Skala Psikologis Pemaafan (32 aitem, α = 0,888) dan Skala Prokrastinasi Akademik (41 aitem, α = 0,916). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan hubungan yang negatif  dan signifikan (rxy = -0,358, p = 0,000). Besaran prediksi yaitu 12,8%. Hasil lebih jauh menunjukkan korelasi negatif antara pemaafan diri sendiri, orang lain, maupun situasi dengan prokrastinasi akademik. Perbedaan besaran kontribusi pemaafan di antara objek yang berbeda didiskusikan lebih jauh.Kata kunci: pemaafan; diri sendiri; orang lain; situasi; prokrastinasi akademik; mahasiswa AbstractProcrastination has an impact on academic achievement, as well as mental health. Although forgiveness is included as an attribute of positive psychology, the evidence about the relationship between forgiveness and procrastination impress contradiction. This study aims to examine the relationship between forgiveness and academic procrastination in college students. There were 127 undergraduate students from The Department of Nutritional Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, University of Diponegoro, Indonesia, who was selected as research subjects using the stratified random sampling technique. Data were collected using The Forgiveness Psychological Scale (32 items, α = .888) and The Academic Procrastination Scale (41 items, α = .916). The results showed a negative and significant correlation (rxy = -.358, p = .000). The effective contribution is 12.8%. Further results showed negative correlations between forgiveness of self, others, and situations with academic procrastination. The differences in the amount of the contribution of forgiveness between different objects discussed further.Keywords: forgiveness; self; others; situations; academic procrastination; college students
