White-collar crime issues involving Muslim workers are now a worrying phenomenon. Muslim workers like to lose the principles of Islamic values that should be the main tenet in life, including in performing their duties and responsibilities in the institution. In overcoming this, the aspect of application and understanding of Islamic values among Muslim workers, especially in Islamic higher education institutions, especially in Malaysia should be taken into consideration. Among the mediums that can be used to implement this is to implement training programs that emphasize and apply Islamic values among the participants. As an Islamic-based training institute, the Institut Latihan Islam Malaysia (ILIM), should emphasize the aspect of Islamic values in the training programs it implements. Therefore, this paper has two objectives. First, identify the application of Islamic values in training programs. Second, to analyse the application of Islamic values in training programs at ILIM in the context of Islamic higher education institutions. This paper uses the document review method and uses qualitative content analysis. The findings of the paper show that there are at least five Islamic values that need to be applied in the training program, namely the values of compassion, trust, justice, moderation, and self-reflection. In addition, it was also found that ILIM also applies these values in its training program either directly or indirectly. In conclusion, the application of all these Islamic values in training programs especially in ILIM is very important to address criminal issues involving Muslim workers.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to explore ways to establish an effective coordinative mechanism to ensure the effective practice of career coaching in innovativeness and creativity training programs in higher education. Design/methodology/approach This study aims to explore a successful case – that of Wenzhou University College – to elucidate how to establish an effective coordinative mechanism. The Delphi method is an interview approach for obtaining and analyzing case data. Findings According to research results, first, the causes of conflict were found and an attempt was made to solve these by using a personal system and training program structure revision; the main reasons for the conflicts are an overemphasis on “experts’ experience leading” and a “cognitive gap” between experts as coaches and teaching faculties; second, to decrease conflict, a revision of the training program structure will aid the improvement in the specialization for experts and teaching faculties; and third, revision of one’s personal system requires the teaching faculties to be from within the industries or companies facilitating the process of these faculties gaining practical experience; moreover, it will be easier if experts are the ones who are communicating how to re-design training programs and cooperative modes. Originality/value This study provides a coordinative mechanism for the effective practice of innovativeness and creativity training in higher education institutions. On the basis of research results, higher education institutions can effectively develop a training program of innovativeness and creativity based on the concept of career coaching.

Society is increasingly becoming multicultural, with more pressure to improve the quality of intercultural interactions. Higher education institutions are experiencing internationalization through increased mobility of students and faculty, which creates the need to manage diversity with the imperative of smoothing communication, reducing stress and making studying and working in a multicultural environment more efficient. Employers also dictate a need to educate culturally competent professionals, who are capable of succeeding in a globalized environment characterized by increased workforce mobility and international assignments. Intercultural competences discourse has a long track with researchers and practitioners, without any agreement on its definition or measurement, but with a clear message that cultural diversity will not result in increased intercultural competences. In this paper, intercultural competences are viewed as a transversal learning outcome, considering the increasing internationalization of higher education institutions. The research is qualitative in nature, based on the analysis of course evaluations and an open-ended survey. This study used a purposeful sample of current and former students who have been exposed to a diverse intercultural environment while studying at an international business school in Sweden. Based on the findings, a course design is suggested where exposure to cultural diversity is guided and facilitated by bringing students to collaborate in an assignment-driven context, with a culturally diverse group composition. Lecture-based components of the course are balanced with the addition of a component of self-reflection assignment, providing both culturally specific and general knowledge, thus contributing to the ability to extrapolate the experience on future intercultural encounters.

Digitalisation is an issue of growing importance at all higher education institutions (HEIs). It is often developed and driven bottom-up. In this regard, the intended self-assessment tool that the present paper aims to present “DIGI-HE” will support higher education institutions in developing their individual approaches to foster digitisation, methodological and conceptual approach. The present paper will outline the methodological procedure of design and subsequent validation of the tool. In a time when experimentation with, and mainstreaming of digital technology use is progressing to develop holistic strategies that encompass learning and teaching, research and innovation, as well as cooperation and outreach DIGI-HE will represent a self-reflection tool adapted to higher education to support the institutional efforts, to develop and implement strategies, which purposeful and holistic in comprising both missions, education and research. It will also furthermore attach particular importance to the need for dialogue among all actors and stakeholders in digitalisation, and address areas of activities relation to cooperation and outreach, including internationalisation strategies and practices.

Mentoring programs play a valuable role in higher education. Formal mentoring processes and relationships increase the overall perceived quality of an educational program and the professional success of new hotel management graduates. To evaluate an established mentoring program in higher education, a single case study of the Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School at Torrens University Australia (BMIHMS @TUA) was developed and that is presented and discussed in this chapter. The evaluation of the mentoring program found that mentoring relationships enable mentees to build knowledge and skills, develop networking opportunities, build confidence, and gain self-reflection abilities. The chapter offers insights and recommendations for higher education institutions to consider when setting up mentoring programs. The knowledge gained through this research will assist higher education institutions to better prepare students for a transition to work through mentoring whilst enhancing the quality of educational courses.

This chapter presents the results and analysis of the design and development of a training program in climate change education (CCE) aimed at teachers of Normal colleges in Mexico (i.e., higher education institutions dedicated to the training of basic, preschool, primary, and secondary education). Its purpose was to incorporate CCE in the Normal colleges of the State of Veracruz, Mexico; it was materialized with a course workshop and follow-up actions in the implementation of CCE practices. The training proposal is based on the articulation of two conceptual axes: multidisciplinary knowledge on climate change and CCE approaches aimed at managing adaptation and mitigation response actions. From the systematization and analysis of the program, the authors concluded that the incorporation of the CCE as a transversal axis is a complex process that demands broader training processes and continuous support.

The results of theoretical analysis of modern directions, approaches and methods of stress management have been presented. It has been determined that the classification of methods of stress management depends on the type of psychotherapy, the direction of work with stress, time parameters of interaction with stress factors, the method of influencing the functional state, the method of anti-stress influence, etc. Based on the analysis of various scientific approaches, the methods of developing the ability to handle stress from law enforcers who study in higher education institutions with specific learning conditions are systematized and divided into three branches: prevention, neutralization and correction of stress, and recovery of organism resources. A series of trainings aimed on the formation and development of stress resistance and resource conservation among police officers at the stage of professional training were presented. For the first year cadets of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs a training program “Adaptation” was developed, the purpose of which is to develop skills and abilities of self-organization of the person that are essential for studying in higher education institutions with specific learning conditions; development of responsibility, social courage, high standards of behavior and motivation of achievement; development of active and prosocial models of behavior. For the second year cadets, a training program “Stress and Lifestyle” was developed, the purpose of which is the formation of rules of psycho-hygiene and mastering the methods of self-regulation of stress. For the third year cadets there is a training “Professional stress”, which task is to develop responsibility for personal development and promote self-realization and the formation of a cadet as a self-sufficient creative person. Also for the third year cadets we offer personal growth training “Life design of the person”, the purpose of which is to form the need for an active life position, willingness for self-development, self-improvement and increase of responsibility for one’s own life. On the basis of the research, conclusions were made on the expediency of the integrated implementation of the training system as a mean of forming and developing stress resistance and enhancing the existing personal resources of police officers at various stages of professional training.

Within the increasing of practical significance and efficiency of physical education, it is necessary to develop certain methodic thesis and programs of swimming training for students of higher education institutions and to carry out these experimental checks. Purpose: to provide a general description of training programs at different individual and motivational levels of the swimming training system for students of higher education institutions. Methods: theoretical analysis and generalization (it was clarified the degree of disclosure research issues in the scientific and methodological literature), study of documentary materials (it was founded requirements to the structure and content of student swimming training), system analysis (it was detected signs and characteristics of swimming system for students of higher education institutions). Results. Within the methodical part of the swimming training system, we have identified the possibility of using in the natural environment the educational process of physical education for students of four interconnected by type of sequential combination of training programs. This programs cover different levels of individual and motivational orientation of swimming lessons for students of higher education institutions and, accordingly, swimming preparedness. Considering, that the means and methods of swimming are widely known and thoroughly disclosed in the special literature, our attention we turned to setting tasks for individual classes of different, consistently combined programs at the individual and motivational levels of swimming training system students of higher education institutions. Conclusions. Within the implementation of the methodical component of the swimming training system for students of the higher education institutions, it have been identified four individual and motivational levels of classes. For each of these levels it was carried out a selection of goals, tasks, means and methods of training. For students at the first level, the characteristic difference is the presence of a significant fear of being in the water and the lack of ability to swim. For students at the second level - a low level of fear of being in the water and lack of ability to swim. For students at the third level - the presence of skills to stay afloat and swim in any way (original methods without the use of swimming techniques or a separate style of swimming). For students at the fourth level - the possession of swimming skills and the desire to engage and improve techniques in the future.

The need conditions the relevance of the article for the formation of higher education teachers’ pedagogical competence as the optimal system and purposeful work in this direction has not yet been formed. The goal of the article lies in the analysis of the study of the theoretical aspects of higher education teachers’ pedagogical competence and identifying the main types of professional competence. The leading approach to the study of this problem for the authors was their understanding of the concept of "competence", the distinction between the concepts of “qualification” and “competence”, as well as an understanding of the essence of higher school teacher’s pedagogical competence. The article presents a scheme of competencies of a higher school teacher, a distinction between key, subject and professional competencies. Taking into account the results of this study, it is possible to identify several scientific problems and promising areas that require further consideration: in particular, the development of new training programs for teachers of higher education institutions.

This chapter shows how PhD mobility across organizations constitutes a source of normative isomorphism that has led towards the “collegialization” of some Spanish Technology Centres (TCs). In particular, the study of nine TCs located in four Spanish regions has been essential to identify the normative mechanisms embedded in doctoral training and scientific careers that have promoted the convergence among R&D organizations. Thus, TCs collaborating intensively with higher education institutions through hybrid researchers have adopted academic models of knowledge production. Interestingly, they have also introduced doctoral training programs to reinforce their legitimacy in the eyes of their collaborators and investors. As a result of these changes, TCs move towards a more proactive position in the processes of knowledge transfer to gain an advantageous position in an innovation system.
