This study aimed at developing an appropriate electronic learning media named E-Writing to improve students’ writing skill of English Education Department. This media will be the solution of students’ difficulties in writing activities especially as a guidence for writing task and activities.  That is why this research is going to develop a media which based on the needs of analysis to make the learning process of writing skill  become effective. This research is developed based on the Design and Development (D&D) model. The data obtained from the experts’ evaluation result. All data are both analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively using mean score and alpha Cronbach formula. The result of this study suggested that E-Writing can be such a beneficial media for students’ writing development.

This study aims to investigate the needs of students in writing skills. In particular, this research attempts to explore the present situation, the target, and the learning needs for the writing course. Need analysis is conducted for deciding the goals and the objectives of the upcoming curriculum and for ensuring that the curriculum content ties the students’ needs. A descriptive method was employed in this study. A questionnaire was used for collecting the data which then analyzed and described qualitatively. The respondents of this research were 176 students of English Education Department students who are mostly in the second semester. The results show that; firstly, in the present situation analysis, most of the students admitted that they were in the intermediate level of English; specifically, most of them have fair proficiency in writing. Next, in the target situation analysis, writing skill is the secondary need of the students in which grammar is the most priority needed by the students to be improved. Next, the students’ purposes in learning English are to be a teacher/lecturer, translator, and tourism guide. Most of the students are more enjoyable for learning in the classroom that should be consisted of not more than 30 students. Thirdly, in the learning needs analysis, the students were interested to learn writing using discussion. For doing the writing task, the students require to have individual work. The learning media that is the most needed is PowerPoint presentation. In addition, the most important learning source that the students need is a hand-out and the topics of the material are about issues in Indonesia. Finally, the results of this research are expected to contribute to the curriculum development at the English Education Department of UIN SAIZU.

Recently, speaking is important in many aspects. A technique which can be used to increase speaking skill is by using role-play. It can develop communicative competence of the students. The aim of this study is to understand the students’ problems in doing role-play and to recognize the effects of role-play for the students in communicative competence aspect. The participants were fifth semester students of English Education Department, and it included 108 students. This study was conducted in campus 4 of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan. The instruments used questionnaire and interview. In calculating the questionnaire, SPSS 17.0 was used by the researcher. The questionnaire result showed that using role-play in learning process improves the communicative competence of the students. It is supported by interview result which described that (1) using role-play can increase vocabularies of students, (2) it gives new atmosphere in the classroom, and (3) the students get some experiences to add their knowledge.

This study aimed to describe 1) the application of Blended Learning in extensive and intensive reading subjects, and (2) the students’ perception of the application of blended learning.  The subject of this study was the students of the English education department at the Muhammadiyah University of Enrekang. The data in this study were the activities of students and the lecturer in the teaching and learning processes and the students’ perception of the learning process in the classroom.  The results showed that (1) the students and the lecturer were actively engaged in live learning and online conversation, and (2) the students had a positive perception of learning.

Students four grade semester English Education Department have difficult in writing. They have  limitation in English vocabulary building, students didn’t understand  systematically in writing. They usual use common words in writing English so that they weak in writing skill. Lecturer choose clustering technique to improve students’writing skill. The advantages this technique can mapp students’mind, an idea or theme with symbols and diagram after that they can improve become written or text. Furthermore all of the content in which they want to write based on the outline. This research aim to know improving students’writing skill  through clustering technique on students STKIP Kusuma Negara, Jakarta. It is qualitative research using classroom action research method. It was conducted two cycle. Each of cycle consist of four steps. There are planning, acting, observing and reflecting. This research was conducted with the subject twenty five students in fourth semester English Education STKIP Kusuma Negara Jakarta. Data were collected  through interview, observation and test. The result of this research is improving students’writing skill through Clustering Technique showed an increasing percentage and average score. Cycle I was  32 % students pass in writing skill or the average score is 73.28, in Cycle II was 88 % students pass in writing skill or the average score is 81.6. The students given positive responses, they were enthusiastic and motivated when they written in English by Clustering Technique. Based on the result, it  can be concluded Clustering Technique could improve the students’writing skill on STKIP Kusuma Negara.

Preparing 21st century students to be able to compete in the future, teachers around the world promote several skills to face the challenges of 21st century development. Students need 21st century skills which are known as 4C skills (critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and creativity). Integrating 21st century skills in the learning process effectively becomes very important. Teaching material as a source of learning is needed in this regard. One of the teaching materials is a module. The aim of this research is to develop an integrated Sociolinguistics module on 21st century skills that focus on 4C skills. It aims to find out the suitable of this module as teaching material for students in the English Education Department of STKIP Muhammadiyah Muara Bungo. This research method used research and development (R&D). The research procedure was divided into two, namely preparation and implementation. This research was conducted to students in the fifth semester of the academic year 2019/2020 English Education Department of STKIP Muhammadiyah Muara Bungo. Data collection techniques used questionnaire and observation sheets as instrument. This research data analysis technique used quantitative data analysis techniques and qualitative data analysis techniques. The results showed the recapitulation of assessment aspects from various experts, sociolinguistics lecturer, student questionnaire sheets, and observations sheet. The following are the percentages of the result module eligibility which includes: the results of the material expert validation was 61.3% (good category); the results of the validation of media experts was 75.8% (excellent category); module self-evaluation results by lecturers was 90% (excellent category); field trial observation sheet results was 78.9% (excellent category); and the results of the student questionnaire sheet was 76.3% (excellent category). So the sociolinguistics module which is integrated with 4C skills is appropriate to be used in the learning process.

Being smart and having good grades are the dreams of students in learning process. However, to achieve those goals they have to be aware that affective or character aspect is equally important as cognitive and psychomotor aspect in the learning process. Thus, this study aimed to reveal the learning process of EFL learners’ morals toward education character. The research method of this study was quantitative; the questionnaire was used to collect the data. A total number of 34 participants were selected from each semester of English education department (EED) at STKIP Muhammadiyah Aceh Barat Daya by using convenience sampling. The data were analyzed quantitatively by using percentage. The results revealed that (1) most of students had positive attitudes toward character education in the learning process and (2) the common positive responses implied by EED students toward character education were in terms of commitment, responsibility and discipline. In summary, most of the students had a good character toward the implementation of education character in the classroom while having courses. However, there were only a few of EED students who were still not able to imply a good attitude toward education character in the classroom. Therefore, it is recommended for lecturers to give more attention toward the implementation of students’ education character in the classroom and continuously create strategies to develop students’ good character so that they will have good moral and knowledge.

Pronunciation and vocabulary are important elements of language so a communication will be difficult if the speaker cannot pronounce the elements or words accurately. However, in learning in class, limited time causes lecturers to have difficulty checking the pronunciation of English students one by one. So that technology is needed to improve students’ pronunciation competence independently and measurably. This study aims to develop a spell checker application that is integrated with the lecture module. This application aims to improve the English pronunciation ability of students independently and measurably so as to save time. The research method is a design and development method with 6 stages. The product validation results showed that this application is feasible to use with the acquisition of a feasibility percentage of 89%.

Researching teacher talk during teaching and learning process of English is essential because it offers practical implications for the improvement of teaching and learning process.  However, there are still few studies which try to compare types of talk used by lecturers who teach content and skill subjects. This research investigates the types and the dominant types of lecturer talk during the teaching and learning process at an English Education Department. The participants were two English lecturers at a private University in Malang who taught Vocabulary (skill subject) and Poetry (content subject) classes. The researchers used an audio recorder to record the utterances by the lecturers. The data were analyzed qualitatively by using FIAC (Flanders Interaction Analysis Category). The types of lecturer talk produced by the lecturer who taught Vocabulary were Ask question, Give direction, Give lecture, Accept or use students’ idea, Praise or encourage, and Criticize or justify authority. The types of lecturer talk produced by the lecturer who taught Poetry were Give lecture, Ask question, Accept or use students’ idea, Give direction, Praise or encourage, and Criticize or justify authority. The most dominant types of talk produced by the lecturer who taught Vocabulary were Ask question and Give direction but Give lecture was the most dominant types of talk produced by the lecturer who taught Poetry. This finding indicates that types of course taught by lecturers affect the kinds of talk produced by the lecturers.

This study is to describe the process of teaching descriptive writing skill by using Think Talk and Write (TTW) at second semester of English Education Department Teacher Training and Education Faculty Madura Islamic University. The study used descriptive qualitative research. In collecting the data, the researcher used observation such as observation list for students, students’ writing result, and describing the situation of class during the observation.  In analyzing the data, the researcher used simple formula such as numerical data to support the research. The result of this research, in can be concluded that using Think Talk and Writing (TTW) to teach writing especially descriptive text is very effective and help students to develop their skill in writing, it showed by the students’ response (78.26% of Students enjoyed the class), and it was also supported by the score of students’ writing skill in writing descriptive text (82.7% of students got the target score).   Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan proses pembelajaran keterampilan menulis deskriptif dengan menggunakan Think Talk and Write (TTW) pada semester dua Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Fakultas Keguruan dan ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Islam Madura. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Dalam mengumpulkan data, peneliti menggunakan observasi seperti daftar observasi untuk siswa, hasil tulisan siswa, dan menggambarkan situasi kelas selama pengamatan. Dalam menganalisis data, peneliti menggunakan rumus sederhana seperti data numerik untuk mendukung penelitian. Hasil dari penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan Think Talk and Writing (TTW) untuk mengajar menulis terutama teks deskriptif sangat efektif dan membantu siswa untuk mengembangkan keterampilan mereka dalam menulis, hal ini ditunjukkan oleh respon siswa (78,26% siswa menikmati kelas), dan itu juga didukung oleh skor keterampilan menulis siswa dalam menulis teks deskriptif (82,7% siswa mendapat skor target).

Covid-19 significantly influences teaching and learning activities. Lecturers need to be more creative to optimize the available electronic tools for supporting the teaching and learning process. Many problems faced by both lecturers and students, especially in private university whose its students are from economically low society, when they are disrupted by this condition. Creative teaching and learning process is needed to make the class more effective and attractive. Besides, it also shapes the students’ minds to follow every sophisticated change and condition in the future by seeking the exact and creative problem-solving. This research aims to describe the implementation of the online creative pedagogical learning models in English Education Department students on Extensive Reading course. The research uses a descriptive qualitative method, which is designed as classroom action research. This research conducted in English Education Department of Hasyim Asy’ari University Tebuireng Jombang, with 25 participants. The result of this research shows that online creative pedagogical models can be used for solving students’ problems, such as Google Classroom, Youtube, and Instagram TV for a synchronous meeting, and Google Meet for an asynchronous meeting. The result shows that those media suitable for implementing creative onli also become alternatives for students who have limited access to the internet because they live in remote areas or have low budgets, but those media are practical and effective.
