The relevance of studying the self- assessment of cadets of the Suvorov Military School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and its relationship with psychological health is due to the need to increase the effectiveness of the system of psychological support for cadets during the period of pre-university education, the purpose of which is to compensate for the deficiencies in the adaptive abilities of adolescents and their further personal and professional self-determination. One of the main criteria for assessing a cadet’s career opportunities in the law enforcement system is his self-assessment. A young man entering the Suvorov Military School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia does not always proportion the level of his physical, intellectual and personal capabilities with those requirements of the educational environment of a military school. The inability of adolescents to adequately assess their strengths and weaknesses complicates the process of professional self-determination, in connection with which a significant percentage of the pupils who entered the school experience difficulties in adaptation, are disappointed in their choice and make a decision to expel. The study resulted in a correlation between the self-esteem of the cadets of the Suvorov Military School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia with the resource of their psychological health, reflecting the ratio of constructive and destructive-deficient central (unconscious) personality functions. Another finding is a significant difference in the self-assessment of cadets assigned to different groups of psychological health. The practical significance of the research findings is determined by the possibility of their effective use in the system of psychological support for pre-university training of cadets of the Suvorov military school, including the period of mass psycho-prophylactic examinations and the provision of targeted psychological assistance to cadets with low self-assessment.

Against the background of social changes in the last decade, the increasing priority of the role of a child in relation to the role of an adult, modern adolescents are faced with a choice of growing-up strategies, which is accompanied by an internal conflict of this process, a contradiction between the laws of development, including social and modern cultural imperatives. This urgent problem is in the focus of the presented research. The process of modern Russian adolescents growing-up in the context of their professional self-determination is analyzed. Professional self-determination is considered as a factor of positive growing-up acceptance due to certain value orientations. It is assumed that the choice of a future profession made by adolescents (i.e., their professional self-determination) increases their self-assessment of adulthood, and value orientations can act as its predictors as determining the meaning of growing up for them. The study involved 302 male teenagers aged 14-17 years, including: 148 cadets of the Suvorov School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and 154 students of secondary schools. The study used the questionnaire method, modified Dembo - Rubinstein Self-Assessment Methods and Schwartz Value Survey. Statistical processing was based on a comparative ( F -tests and the Mann -Whitney U test), variance ( F ), and regression ( B ) analyses. The results of the study show that the professional self-determination of adolescents increases their self-assessment of adulthood. The professional self-determination of adolescents is associated with the factor of primary professional socialization, namely, the conditions of the educational environment in which they grow up. The value orientations of adolescents are predictors of their self-assessment of adulthood, and are mediated by group, gender, and social stereotypes in the image of an adult and the role of an adult.

The author shares her own practical ideas of how to set up monitoring system to assess and correct the students readiness for continuous professional education. Theoretical basics of such monitoring system and details of its establishment in higher educational institutions are defined. Among the main features of monitoring system are highlighted: the object, the subject, goals, main requirements and informational framework. Conceptually monitoring is based on the model of higher educational institution graduate, where the graduate continues his professional education. It is accepted that the model has value-motivational, cognitive, reflexive and activity components, which serve as initial metrics for the monitoring system designing. Various functions of monitoring system are revealed, including constructive and indicative, information and analytical, integration, research and strategic planning. In addition to a set of principles, traditional for monitoring systems designing and implementing, the author provides the rationale for the humanization principle, which makes it possible to treat monitoring system as a means to support students professional and personality self-development, professional self-determination and self-fulfillment. Peculiarities of monitoring at different stages of students readiness to continuous education (adaptive-and diagnostic, prospective-and-developmental, reflexive-and-regulatory) are described.
