In this study, using the descriptive-analytical method, we discuss the main factors in the formation of the Yemen crisis, as well as the attitudes of the two Arab states and of the two neighboring countries, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, in the Yemen crisis. It is concluded that this crisis stems not only from the role of local actors, but also from the role of regional and global actors, who played a decisive role in shaping and exacerbating the Yemen crisis. Regional players in the post-2015 crisis include the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, which showed contradictory behavior. Saudi Arabia's targets in its attack on Yemen have a greater military and security dimension. The political and economic objectives of the United Arab Emirates, which is Riyadh's most important ally in this war, have been at a different level from those of Saudi Arabia. This can be seen in Abu Dubai Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed's aspirations to expand his country's influence, to become a major player in the region.

Islam's influence on political values and, as a result on the political behavior of the Muslim state, has traditionally been analyzed in terms of two general categories. These categories were the purely religious and the purely temporal, which in turn identified the interests of theological beliefs and transcendentally fixed ethical duties on the one hand and the interests of ruling dynasties, military and financial affairs on the other. The influence pattern, however, is more complex than the one suggested by the traditional approach.

The article deals with the difficulties that may arise in organizing "Geneva-2" as well as those that may appear in the course of the Conference itself. It focuses on the inter-Syrian talks that will be aimed at achieving a compromise on the key issues of Syria’s future. The author provides us with a comparative analysis of the Syrian parties' “degree of readiness” to engage in dialogue as well as with a review of the negotiation documents prepared by various factions of the Syrian opposition in which they outline their vision of transition in Syria.Emphasis is made on how outside players with influence on the Syrian sides (USA, France, Turkey, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and others) should act in the case of impasse of talks or difficulties in the implementation of decisions taken. The paper examines the role that Russia must play in order for the Conference to succeed, as well as that of Lakhdar Brahimi, Special Representative of the UN on Syria. The material presented is particularly relevant in the framework of the revival of the political process around Syria, especially in terms of the intensifying efforts to organize the International Conference with the purpose of finding a comprehensive political settlement to the crisis in Syria through the full implementation of the Geneva Communiqué (30 June, 2012).

The article shows the role of the Polish press in the military conflict between Poland and Czechoslovakia about Cieszyn Silesia that took place in January and February 1919. The press at that time was of key significance due to many reasons. One of them was that local politicians were often editors and journalists of these magazines. The author analyses the articles of particular press titles, not only those that were pro-Polish, but he also takes into account the Pro-Czechoslovak ones, associated with the Józef Kożdoń’s Movement. The author shows that the press had both an informational and propagandist function. He also points out the similarities and differences in the propagandist activity in the pro-Polish press, determined by the political affiliation of the particular magazine. The author presents the methods of the press propaganda, so that in specific local circles they played a role of the pro-Polish or pro-Czechoslovak factor.

This essay examines a polemic between two Baudelaire critics of the 1930s, Jean Cassou and Benjamin Fondane, which centered on the relationship of poetry to progressive politics and metaphysics. I argue that a return to Baudelaire's poetry can yield insight into what seems like an impasse in Cassou and Fondane. Baudelaire provides the possibility of realigning metaphysics and politics so that poetry has the potential to become the space in which we can begin to think the two of them together, as opposed to seeing them in unresolvable tension. Or rather, the tension that Baudelaire animates between the two allows us a new way of thinking about the role of esthetics in moments of political crisis. We can in some ways see Baudelaire as responding, avant la lettre, to two of his early twentieth-century readers who correctly perceived his work as the space that breathes a new urgency into the questions of how modern poetry relates to the world from which it springs and in which it intervenes.
