Plant density is known to be important factor to determine the agronomical target of a maximum production. Plant density is generally determined by spacing. The wide spacing, may caused inefficient farm system. On the contrary, narrow by spaced planting can retard growth. Prediction of growth rates and development of crop plants including radish is insufficient if it is relied only on the change that happens to the crop with days after planting. But the basis of the prediction is its potential production biomass. This research is discover the density that suistable for maximum land - use. This research was conducted in a randomized block design, with five density treatments. The treatments were 40 x 60 cm, 45 x 60 cm, 50 x 60 cm, 55 x 60 cm and 60 x 60 cm each of which is repeated three times. The variable obseverved was crop dry matter. Air temperature and rainfall were also recordee. Data were analysed using ANOVA and SSD for mens differences. Radish growth and produces were determined by growth rate (Cm), periode of linear growth (tm) and period of silent growth (to). Plant density significantly affected the growth of radish. The maximum production was found at 50x60 cm with growth rate6.23g m-2 day-1. Keywords: Raphanus sativus, radish growth

E-mail: [email protected]     1 RESUMO   Em regiões com limitações de recursos hídricos, como semiárido cearense, o uso eficiente da água torna-se a cada dia imprescindível para a produção de hortaliças irrigadas nestas regiões. Neste sentido, a presente pesquisa teve como objetivo a avaliação técnica e econômica do efeito dos fatores de produção água e níveis de cobertura do solo da bagana de carnaúba sobre a produtividade da cultura do rabanete. A pesquisa foi conduzida no período de junho a agosto de 2018 em dois ciclos de produção em área pertencente ao Prece (Programa de Educação em Células Cooperativas), localizado no município de Pentecoste-CE. O experimento foi conduzido em um delineamento em blocos casualizados com quatro repetições. Os tratamentos foram constituídos por cinco lâminas de irrigação (50%; 75%; 100%; 125% e 150% da evapotranspiração das culturas localizada, ETcloc) e cinco diferentes níveis de cobertura morta constituída de bagana de carnaúba:  25%; 50%; 75% e 100% além da testemunha com o solo sem cobertura 0%, totalizando 100 parcelas experimentais. Os resultados permitiram concluir que a bagana de carnaúba apresentou potencial para utilização como cobertura morta no cultivo de rabanete, proporcionando incremento no rendimento da cultura em condições de estratégia de irrigação com déficit para o uso de 16 t ha-1 de cobertura morta. A cultura rabanete responde de forma crescente às diferentes lâminas de irrigação até a ETcloc de 100%, podendo-se obter ganhos econômicos quando associadas à utilização de cobertura morta no solo.   Palavras-chave: Cobertura do solo. In this sense, this research had as objective the technical and economic evaluation of the effect of the factors of production water and levels of the cover of the soil of the bagana on the productivity of the radish culture. The research was conducted in the period from June to August 2018 in two production cycles in area belonging to Prece (Cooperative Cell Education Program), located in the municipality of Pentecoste-CE. The experiment was conducted in a randomized block design with four replicates. The treatments consisted of five irrigation depth (50%, 75%, 100%, 125% and 150% of crop localized evapotranspiration, ET cloc) and five levels of ground cover consisting of carnauba bagana: 25%; 50%; 75% and 100% beyond the control with the soil without 0% coverage, totalizing 100 experimental units. The results allowed to conclude that the carnauba bagana presented potential for use as ground cover in the cultivation of radish, providing an increase in the yield of the crop under conditions of deficit irrigation strategy to use 16 t ha-1 of ground cover. The radish crop significantly responds to the different irrigation depth, up to 100% ET cloc, and economics gains can be obtained when associated with the use of ground cover in soil.   Keywords: Soil cover. An ideal spacing between plants should be established for the optimization of radish (Raphanus sativus L.) crops since the plant spatial distribution of plants affects the crop yield.  This study was conducted aiming to evaluate the agronomic performance of radish cultivars grown under different spacings. The experiment was conducted at the Experimental Field of the Federal Institute of Education, Science, and Technology of Maranhão, in Codó, MA, Brazil, from June to July 2017. The experiment was conducted in a randomized block design with five replications, using a 2×2 factorial arrangement. The factors consisted of 2 cultivars (Sparkler Ponta Branca and Saxa) and 2 spacings between plants (5 and 8cm), totaling 20 experimental plots. Data were collected in  6  plants from each experimental plot. The agronomic parameters: total fresh weight (TFW), root fresh weight (RFW), root mean diameter (RMD), root means length (RML), and root yield (RY) of the radish plants were evaluated. The factors (cultivars and spacing between plants) had no significant effect on TFW, RFW, RML, and RMD. The spacing between plants has a significant effect on the yield of radish crops of the cultivar Saxa, and higher yields are found when using the spacing of 5cm.

Twenty-four crossbred pigs (Duroc x Yorkshire), 28 days old and of 6.9 kg average liveweight, were used to evaluate effects of dietary addition of 0 (control), 5, and 7.5% of wastewater from a caramel production plant (WWCP) on performance from weaning to finishing at 82 kg average liveweight and on carcass characteristics. A completely randomized block design was used (n = 4). Pigs were fed at the rate of 8% of body weight daily during the postweaning phase (21 days) and 6% for the rest of the experiment. During the post-weaning phase dry matter intake, liveweight gain and feed efficiency were improved with 7.5% but not with 5% addition of WWCP (P ≤  0.08). During the fattening phase (until 74 kg average liveweight), daily dry matter intake and daily weight gain were greater in the control group, whereas during the finishing phase (14 days), feed efficiency improved with the addition of either level of WWCP (P ≤  0.08). Longissimus dorsi area and ham weight were greater in females than in barrows (P ≤  0.05), but no other differences due to the dietary addition of WWCP were detected. These results suggest that swine growth during the first three weeks post-weaning may be improved by the addition of WWCP to the diet at levels of up to 7.5%. However, before further recommendation can be given, additional research is needed on the effectiveness of the use of this wastewater during the fattening-finishing phase. Freshness of this byproduct seemed to have an important effect.

The research was conducted in the greenhouse Faculty of Agriculture, Winaya Mukti University Sumedang district, from April 2011 until June 2011, which is located at an altitude of 850 meters above sea level. The aim of research to study the effect of fly ash Bokashi on growth and baby yield of rapeseed varieties Greenbow. The design used in the study is a randomized block design, which consists of five treatments and five replications. Treatment trial is dose flay ash Bokashi, which is 0 tonnes ha-1, 5 ton ha-1, 10 ton ha-1, 15 ton ha-1 and 20 ton ha-1. The results showed that the fly ash Bokashi effect on plant height, number of leaves per plant, diameter and weight of sweet potatoes per plant. Award dose Bokashi fly ash 5 ton ha-1 showed equally good results by administering doses of fly ash Bokashi 10 ton ha-1, 15 ton ha-1 and 20 ton ha-1 on plant height, leaf number, diameter and weight of tuber turnip var. Greenbow, so enough with a dose of Bokashi fly ash 5 ton ha-1 can give good results for plant radishes var. Greenbow,

<em>Radish (Raphanus sativus L.) is popular in the world as a root vegetable. In Indonesia, the yield of radish is low due to several factors such as the cultivation system. Fertilization and mulching are among the cultivation system which are widely known to improve crop growth and yield. The research aimed to study the effect of bokashi-fertilizer and mulch combination on yield of radish (Raphanus sativus L.). A field experiment was conducted at the Experimental Garden of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology Faculty, The State University of Papua, Manokwari. This experiment was set up in a randomized block design, consisting of three kinds of bokashi namely firewood/ashwood-bokashi (B1), firewood-bokashi (B2), ashwood-bokashi (B3) and four kinds of mulches consist of transparent plastic mulch (M1), black/silver plastic mulch (M2), gliricida mulch (M3) and imperata mulch (M4). The overall treatments were as follows: control, B1M1, B1M2, B1M3, B1M4, B2M1, B2M2, B2M3, B2M4, B3M1, B3M2, B3M3, B3M4. The results show that yield of radish was not affected by application of the bokashi and mulch combination. Even though, no statistically significant, the application of bokashi and mulch increased plant fresh weight by 59%, tuber fresh weight per plant 61.28%, leaf weight 45.79%, tuber length 19.38% and tuber diameter 22.38% compared to control.</em>

ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of interaction between nitrogen topdressing and different application ways (active ingredients) a.i. fluazifop-p-butyl + fomesafen in weed control and agronomic performance of common bean. The experiment was conducted during winter 2003 in Selvíria/MS. The experimental design used was a randomized block design with four replications in a factorial scheme 2x7. The first factor was composed by the absence or presence of nitrogen topdressing, while the second factor consisted of different application ways of fluazifop-p-butyl + fomesafen. The following variables were measured: leaf N content, dry matter of plants, yield components (number of pods plant-1, number of grains plant-1, the average number of grains pod-1 and mass of 100 grains), grain yield, phytotoxicity and weed control percentage. The nitrogen topdressing with 75 kg ha-1provided higher dry matter of plants, higher weed control and higher common bean yield of irrigated winter. In the absence of nitrogen topdressing in the application of urea before or together to fluazifop-p-butyl + fomesafen increased their effectiveness in controlling weeds without interference in the agronomic performance of common bean.

The objective of this work was to study morphogenic characteristics, and dry matter production of roots and shoots of marandu palisadegrass (Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu) submitted to combinations of nitrogen and potassium, in a nutritive solution, employing silica as substrate. The experiment was carried out in a greenhouse during the summer. It was used a 5² fractionated factorial scheme with 13 combinations of nitrogen and potassium, which were distributed in a randomized block design, with four replications. The nitrogen × potassium interaction was significant for the number of tillers and leaves, for leaf area, for shoots and root section dry mass, for total length and surface and specific length and surface in the roots. Production of aerial part dry mass positively correlated with the number of tillers and leaves and grass leaf area. Nitrogen rates modulated the root system development, and the root specific length and surface decreased when high rates of nitrogen and potassium were supllied. Nitrogen and potassium influence Marandu palisadegrass morphogenic characteristics, which are determinant for grass dry matter production.

Natural pastures are important ecosystems that both contribute to biodiversity conservation and provide an important source of income, especially for cattle ranchers. While these pastures yield fairly low productivity, they can be improved by increasing soil fertility and introducing species with high productive potentials. In this sense, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of applying limestone and phosphorus, as well as introducing cool-season species with a mixture of species dominated by Schizachyrium tenerum Nees, into a natural pasture in the Catarinense Plateau. The experiment was conducted from January 2010 to December 2013; the treatments consisted of superficial distribution of limestone in proportions of 3.6, 7.2, 11.0, and 14.4 t ha-1, as well as distribution of phosphorus in the form of triple superphosphate in proportions of 35, 70, 105, and 140 kg of P2O5 ha-1. In addition, cool-season species were overseeded. The experiment consisted of a randomized block design with subdivided plots and three replications. Limestone was applied to the main parcel, whereas phosphorus was applied to the subplots. There was no interaction between the levels of limestone and phosphorus. The application of 11.0 t ha-1 of limestone yielded the highest forage production, with 3,932.2 kg of dry matter (DM) ha-1 during the second year. Red clover was the species that best reacted to the additions, with levels of 7.2 and 11.0 t ha-1 over the 4 years. In addition, phosphorus provoked a positive response throughout the experiment. The highest forage production was observed during the second year, with an addition of 140 kg P2O5 ha-1 (4,419.4 kg DM ha-1). Only one-eighth of the recommended amount of limestone (3.6 t ha-1) allowed for the establishment and persistence of the legumes introduced into natural pastures. These additions, associated with increasing levels of phosphorus, yielded linear growth in the production of forage in natural pastures with a mixture of species dominated by Schizachyrium tenerum Nees.

Irrigation associated to reduction on planting spaces between rows and between coffee plants has been a featured practice in coffee cultivation. The objective of the present study was to assess, over a period of five consecutive years, influence of different irrigation management regimes and planting densities on growth and bean yield of Coffea arabica L.. The treatments consisted of four irrigation regimes: climatologic water balance, irrigation when the soil water tension reached values close to 20 and 60 kPa; and a control that was not irrigated. The treatments were distributed randomly in five planting densities: 2,500, 3,333, 5,000, 10,000 and 20,000 plants ha-1. A split-plot in randomized block design was used with four replications. Irrigation promoted better growth of coffee plants and increased yield that varied in function of the plant density per area. For densities from 10,000 to 20,000 plants ha-1, regardless of the used irrigation management, mean yield increases were over 49.6% compared to the non-irrigated crop.

ABSTRACT The elephant-grass undergoes successive cutting and periodical evaluations that it possible to identify clones with high stability for dry matter production, which can be used for energy production. The present study was carried out to evaluate stability dry matter yield for different parametric and non-parametric methods in elephant grass genotypes for biomass production undergoes successive cutting in the agroclimatic conditions of the Norte Fluminense (RJ, Brazil). The variable measured in the 40 genotypes was dry matter yield (DMY) at 2009, 2010 and 2011 in a field study designed as randomized block design with two replicates. Each sample was grown in different environment condition. The stability methods tested were the Yates and Cochran’s, Plaisted and Peterson’s, Wricke’s ecovalence, Annicchiarico’s, Lin and Binns’ and Kang and Phan’s. Results indicated that cutting (E) and genotypes (G) influenced significantly on the performance of dry matter yield. The non-parametric stability methods were effective for the evaluation of stability in dry matter yield. Genotypes Mercker, Pinda-México, Mercker 86-México, Guaçu/IZ, Mercker Pinda, P-241-Piracicaba and Cubano Pinda were stable stability dry matter yield. Hence, there are genotypes may be exploited in future breeding programmes in order to improve productivity of upland elephant grass over environment.
