ABSTRACTAplysina sp. Sponge is one of the marine biota making up coral reefs that contain active compounds whose percentage of activity is greater than the compounds produced by land plants. This study aims to determine the activity of antioxidant compounds from the ethanol extract of Aplysina sp. from Lembeh Strait Waters, Bitung City. Sponge Aplysina sp., was extracted by maceration with ethanol as a solvent. As a parameter, testing of antioxidant activity was carried out using the DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) method, which was measured using UV-Vis Spectrophotometry at a wavelength of 517 nm. The result showed the ethanol extract of Aplysina sp., sponge proven to have antioxidant activity in each concentration test. The highest concentration has an antidote to free radical activity by reaching a percentage of 46,13%. Keywords: Aplysina sp. This study aims to analyze the antioxidant activity of the sponge Aplysina sp. Sponge sample Aplysina sp., obtained from the waters of the Lembeh Strait, Bitung. This research is an experimental laboratory by testing the ethanol extract of sponge Aplysina sp., with the DPPH method [1,1-diphenyl-2-picrilhidrazil] to analyze antioxidant activity using a spectrophotometer UV-Vis. The results of this study showed that the ethanolic extract of the sponge Aplysina sp. Lembeh straits waters have antioxidant activity in each concentration test. Antioxidants from the natural products are essential to prevent the progression of free radical mediated diseases. In the present study, ethanol extract of propolis collected from different geographical origin were evaluated for their free radical scavenging potential by employing different in-vitro assays such as DPPH, ABTS, Nitric oxide and Hydrogen peroxide. All the tested samples contained considerable amount of total phenols and vitamin C content. In the entire assay, the percentage of inhibition increased with the increase in concentration. Among the propolis samples collected, the highest activity was found in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Haryana. The difference in the antioxidant activity level was obtained from the assay may reflect a relative difference in the ability of antioxidant compounds to scavenge different free radicals in the extract. Phenols and vitamin C are the major contributors to antioxidant activity in propolis. The propolis from these locations may be of considerable interest in preventing the ill effects of excessive free radical generation in the human body.

Cana plants are flower ornamental plants whose genus or margins are the only ones in the family Cannacea. This study aims to determine the activity of antioxidant compounds from ethanol extract of  Canna coccinea  Mill flower. by using the DPPH method. Flowers Canna coccinea  Mill  extracted using maceration with ethanol as a solvent. As a parameter, testing of antioxidant activity was carried out using the DPPH (1,1 – diphenyl-2-pikrilhidrazil) method which was measured using UV-Vis Spectrophotometry at a wavelength of 517nm. The result showed that ethanol of Canna coccinea Mill,flower proven to have antioxidant activity in each concentration test. Background : Plant cassava leaves (Manihot esculenta) are known flavonoid is efficacious as antioxidant. Antioxidant can prevent damage to the skin by reducing free radical activity. Purpose : The purpose of this study to determine the concentration of ethanol extract of leaves of cassava can be formulated into dosage cream body scrub which have antioxidant activity. Method : Cassava leaf extract obtained by maceration using 97% ethanol. Determination of antioxidant activity by the method of reduction of free radical DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl-hydrazyl). Result : The ethanol extract of cassava leaves are formulated into dosage cream body scrub with concentration variations 0,0085 mg/mL  (formula 1), 0,017 mg/mL  (formula 2), and 0,0255 mg/mL  (formula 3). Stability test preparation cream body scrub using cycling tests performed for 6 cycles. Preparation cream body scrub to formula I has a moderate antioxidant activity with IC50 158,16 µg/mL, formula 2 has an active antioxidant activity with IC50 66,59 µg/mL, and formula 3 has a stronger antioxidant activity with IC50 38,80 µg/mL. Conclusion : cream body scrub and cassava ethanol extract does not irritate so it is safe to use. Preparations cream body scrub well have the most activity at a concentration of 0,0255 mg/mL with IC50 38,80 µg/mL.

This study aims to determine the antioxidant activity of the Liosina paradoxa sponge. This research is a laboratory experiment with testing the ethanol extract of the sponge Liosina paradoxa with the DPPH [1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl] method to test its antioxidant activity using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 517 nm. The results showed that the ethanol extract of the Liosina paradoxa sponge was proven to have antioxidant activity in each concentration. ABSTRACTDayak onion plant (Eleutherine americana Merr.) or commonly called forest onion is a typical plant of Central Kalimantan that has been used by local peoples for cure a various types of diseases. This study aims to determine the activity of antioxidant compounds from Dayak bulb ethanol extracts from Kotamobagu City. This research method is an experimental laboratory. Initially the Dayak bulb sample was extracted maceration with 96% ethanol solvent then evaporated until a thick extract was obtained. As a parameter, the DPPH method (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) was used to test the antioxidant activity of the samples at concentrations of 50, 60, 70, 80 and 90 mg / L and as a comparison standard used Vitamin C with concentrations of 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 mg / L. The results obtained showed antioxidant activity in Dayak bulb ethanol extracts with IC50 values of 41.46 mg / L and on vitamin C IC50 values of 1.04 mg / L. Based on these results it can be concluded that the onion bulb ethanol extract has very strong antioxidant activity. Keywords: Dayak Onion bulbs, Activity, Antioxidant, DPPH  ABSTRAK Tanaman bawang Dayak (Eleutherine americana Merr.) atau biasa disebut bawang hutan merupakan tanaman khas Kalimantan Tengah yang sudah dipergunakan masyarakat lokal sebagai obat berbagai jenis penyakit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas senyawa antioksidan dari ekstrak etanol bulbus bawang Dayak yang berasal dari Kota Kotamobagu. Metode penelitian ini adalah eksperimental laboratorium. Awalnya sampel bulbus bawang Dayak diekstraksi maserasi dengan pelarut etanol 96% kemudian dievaporasi hingga didapatkan ekstrak kental. Sebagai parameter, digunakan metode DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) untuk pengujian aktivitas antioksidan sampel pada konsentrasi 50, 60, 70, 80 dan 90 mg/L dan sebagai standar pembanding digunakan Vitamin C dengan konsentrasi 2, 4, 6, 8 dan 10 mg/L. Hasil penelitian yang didapat menunjukkan aktivitas antioksidan pada ekstrak etanol bulbus bawang Dayak dengan nilai IC50 sebesar 41,46 mg/L dan pada vitamin C nilai IC50 sebesar 1,04 mg/L. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak etanol bulbus bawang Dayak memiliki aktivitas antioksidan yang sangat kuat. Kata kunci: Bulbus Bawang Dayak, Aktivitas, Antioksidan, DPPH

ABSTRACT Soft Coral Klyxum sp.. is a rich sources in bioactive compounds such as terpenoids, steroids, and steroid glycosides which are commonly used in the health sector. The purpose of this study was to determine the activity of antioxidant compounds from ethanol extracts of Klyxum sp. Klyxum sp., was extracted by maceration using ethanol as a solvent. As a parameter, testing of antioxidant activity was carried out using the DPPH (1,1-diphenil-2-picrylhydarzyl) method, which was measured using UV-Vis spectrophotometry at a wavelength of 517 nm. The results showed that the ethanol extracts of soft coral  Klyxum sp., proven to have antioxidant activity in each concentration test. Keywords: Klyxum sp. Malay apple (Syzygium malaccense L.) is a plant that can be used for treatment. Antioxidants have the activity to reduce free radical compounds which is one of the causes of the emergence of various diseases in humans. The purpose of this study to determine the comparison of methods of maceration and socletation extraction of antioxidant activity of malay apple leaf. Research stages include sampling, plant determination, making of simplisia, maceration extraction and socletation with 70% ethanol solvent and determine the antioxidant activity by UV-Vis spectrophotometry with DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) as free radical. The parameter is IC50 value that is the concentration of antioxidant compound which can cause 50% loss of DPPH free radical activity. Although both methods show very strong antioxidant activity, it can be concluded that the difference in extraction methods has an effect on the antioxidant activity produced. The results of antioxidant activity test showed that socletation methods gave an average IC50 value of 37.67 ppm, this value is higher than maceration methods with an average IC50 value of 47.80 ppm. Malay apple leaf has the potential as a natural antioxidant, although it has a lower IC50 value than vitamin C which is 9.72 ppm.

Free radicals are one of the cause of various diseases. The use of synthetic antioxidant compounds could prevent the effect of the free radicals, however may cause adverse effects on the human body such as impaired liver, lung, intestinal and poisoning. Therefore antioxidant from natural resources needs to be developed. The purpose of this research was to determine the antioxidant activity and IC50 value of the ethanol extract of ganitri (Elaeocarpus ganitrus Roxbs.) leaves. Ganitri leaf ethanol extract activity test was carried out using DPPH method with vitamin C as a standard. Antioxidant activity was determined as a decreas in the absorbance of DPPH at 517 nm wavelength after an addition of the extract with the concentrations of 20, 40, 80, and 100 ppm. The antioxidant acitivity measurement of the ganitri leaf extract showed that the linier regression equation obtained was y = 0.3669x + 29.546, r = 0.4573 while the IC50 value was 54,12 ppm. Based on the result, it is concluded that the ethanol extract of ganitri (Elaeocarpus ganitrus Roxb.) leaf showed was categorized as strong antioxidant.

Abstract Green tea (Camellia sinensis L.) has the main efficacy as an antioxidant and contains polyphenol compounds in green tea leaves with the main component of polyphenol fraction namely Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) which has strong activity to prevent free radicals that cause premature aging. Research has been carried out on the formulation of maskantioxidant preparations containing green tea leaf extract. The study begins with testing the antioxidant activity of ethanol extract of green tea leaves with a free radical reduction method of 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl using visible spectrophotometry. Testing of antioxidant activity showed that the ethanol extract of green tea leaves gave an IC50 value of 3.17µg / mL. Formulations of gel masks made were F0 (base without active substances), F1 (base + concentration of ethanol extract of green tea leaves for IC50 (0,000317%)), F2 (base + concentration of ethanol extract of green tea leaves for 50xIC50 (0, 0158%)), F3 (base + concentration of ethanol extract of green tea leaves for 100xIC50 (0.0317%)), F4 (base + concentration of ethanol extract of green tea leaves for IC50), F5 (base + concentration of ethanol extract of green tea leaves worth IC50), F6 (base + concentration of ethanol extract of green tea leaves for IC50. Evaluation of gel mask preparations include, organoleptic examination and homogeneity, pH, viscosity, dry time of preparation and testing of antioxidant stability. F2 provides better and higher free radical reduction activity than products on the market. F4, F5, F6 shows an increase in free radical reduction activity.   Keywords: Green tea leaves (Camellia sinensis L.), DPPh, IC50 gel mask.
