This research aims to identify the economic and national feasibility of some agricultural activities benefiting from the agricultural initiative's lending funds, as well as to show the impact of the agricultural initiative on these projects in terms of raising social profitability, in the light of the results of the national evaluation criteria addressed in the research. All the studied projects have achieved a net added value at the level of the national economy. The dairy cattle breeding project recorded the lowest net added value of about 914 million dinars (about 745 thousand dollars), and poultry projects achieved the highest added value of about 5 billion ID for the projects of table eggs production 4.9 billion ID for broiler projects, while the relative change in the standard showed that and the broiler production project is one of the most benefited from loan subsidies as the rate of change reached about 25%, while the project of broiler production and poultry hatchery and the project of raising milk cow have negative social return .The initiative's subsidies have increased the social rate of return for these projects to around 24%, 20.5%, and 20%. Agricultural loans from the agricultural initiative raise the national profitability of agricultural projects, which would contribute to the process of agricultural development in Iraq.

This research aims to identify the financial feasibility of some agricultural activities benefiting from the initiative's lending funds, as well as to show the impact of the agricultural initiative on those projects in terms of raising the financial feasibility of their establishment, in the light of the results of the evaluation criteria addressed in the research. Between the years 2009-2011, the financial accounts of the projects were monitored until 2018 to obtain cash flows for the studied projects. Some projects, despite their high investment costs, have been shown to be able to recover the funds invested in a relatively short period of time, and feed plants and similar projects have the potential to recover their costs in a relatively short period. The index of profitability index also showed that most of the productive activities generate a return that exceeds the dinar invested in close proportions, and loans have a significant role in raising the efficiency and profitability of some projects that the state wishes to revitalize despite the non-profit projects in the natural conditions. The NPV values calculated using a discount factor of 10% in the studied projects were positive, indicating the feasibility of investing in these projects, with the exception of the dairy cattle breeding project, which has a net present value of about -8,730,905 dinars. Results came from the discounted profitability index standard. The project also achieved the largest value of the profitability index, as the value of the index reached about 2.408. The research recommended that the need to use lending funds for the agricultural initiative as a tool to raise the efficiency and feasibility of agricultural projects that would contribute to the process of agricultural development in Iraq.

Purpose The social housing sector is under increasing pressure to do more with less and provide value for money as part of the UK Government’s public debt reduction strategy. This study aims to explore the current practices towards unlocking social value in the housing sector through the adoption of the Social Value Act 2012. The Social Value Act seeks to ensure that public sector procurement deliver added value in terms of social, economic and environmental outcomes. Design/methodology/approach The study adopts quantitative research methodology through a survey with 100 housing professionals charged with the delivery of social value outcomes in the social housing sector in England. Findings The results of the study reveal that there is a low level of understanding of the Social Value Act 2012 among the professionals in the social housing sector. Once again, most organisations in the social housing sector do not have social value strategies or policies and rarely consider social value outcomes during procurement. However, employment skills and training and crime and antisocial behaviour reduction are the most social value priority outcomes/needs identified with organisations currently promoting social value in the social housing sector. Social implications The issue of social value has importance towards the wider society, and the study provides an insight into current practices towards the realisation of social value outcomes in the housing sector. Originality/value The Social Value Act 2012 came into force in January 2013, and little has been written on the impact of the Act on the social housing sector in England. This study identifies current practices in the social housing sector towards the delivery of social value outcomes in the day-to-day business operations.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to present the methodological issues around developing a quantitative research instrument of the social impact of Polish public libraries. The results of the use of this instrument to survey users of Mazovian Province, Poland, are summarized as an example of its use. Design/methodology/approach The research focused on informational, educational and participatory aspects of social impact on the sidelines leaving cultural heritage issues. “Impact” and “social impact” were defined according to ISO 16439:2014. Information and documentation – methods and procedures for assessing the impact of libraries. The research instrument included questions both about the activities taken in libraries by its users and the benefits they gained. The questionnaire also contained questions which allowed to control the variables such as frequency of using libraries, socioeconomic factors and cultural practices. To describe dependencies, various statistical tests were applied. The study was conducted on the group of 1,098 users of 38 public libraries between February and June 2017. Findings Younger and people from smaller towns felt more benefits from using libraries. There are significant differences between types of benefits people of various age, financial status and household size experienced. People who went to libraries and other cultural institutions often experienced more benefits. The more a person performs activities in libraries, the more benefits he or she has. Some added value of particular activities is also visible. Research limitations/implications Despite the efforts and the size of the sample, it is not representative of the population of library users in the Mazovian Province (mainly due to the data collection method – auditory survey). Originality/value Studying the social impact of the libraries in Poland is still at its beginning. The presented research is, therefore, exploratory in terms of cognitive and methodological value.

Purpose There is no argument that using games (gamification) is an efficient way of learning in higher education. The questions, though, are which gamification approach is most suitable at that level and how to assess its suitability? This paper aims to attempt to partially answer these two questions, in the context of lean thinking education. Design/methodology/approach The paper offers an assessment criteria to investigate the impact of lean gamification based on the evaluation of motivational, cognitive and social processing during games. In addition, a study is conducted among selected games using these assessment criteria. The study included statistical as well as comparative analysis. The study was based on a sample of undergraduate students learning various lean thinking concepts through physical games over the course of six months. Findings Results showed different interaction levels between the three evaluation criteria depending on the type and design of the lean game. The reported scores and analysis drew various lessons on how to use gamification in the context of lean teaching, outlined some best practices in lean games design and suggested recommendations in mapping lean games from industrial domain to higher education domain. Research limitations/implications The scope of this research was bounded by the sample size of students as well as the selected nine lean thinking games. Larger pool of students as well as other lean thinking games can offer further insights and confirm the outlined ones. Practical implications The presented work will help lean thinking educators in higher education to better understand the student dynamics associated with engaging them in this type pf pedagogical approach. It will help guiding lean thinking games’ designer on how to better cater for this segment of lean thinking learners. Finally, it will aid in promoting lean gamification as an effective learning tool. Social implications The social impact is achieved through enhancing lean thinking education to a wide number of students. This will positively impact the society through the application of the effective lean tools at different stages, levels and places in these students’ life experiences. Originality/value This study offers one of the very few applications in gamification assessment in the context of lean thinking. Furthermore, it integrates the social processing criterion for the first time with the classical two other criteria (motivation and cognitive) used in games education assessment. Finally, it offers new insights for lean thinking game designers for higher education learners.

The social innovation inclines to an emphasis on ‘systems and processes of change in social relations’ and ‘innovation is a new idea, product or process that addresses social and environmental challenges and their needs’. It is newly growing up as a field of practice that is done by people. It has occurred from the broader field of innovation studies. In this article, the System of Rice Intensification (SRI) has been taken as a case of social innovation, which helps to increase the productivity of rice and enhance the income of the farmers. The literature related to SRI suggested that the technique is sustainable and innovative because of the less use of inputs and changes in some set of principles (i.e., planting, fertilizer, water and seeds) whereas increasing output in terms of production and productivity of the crop. In this sense, aim of the article is to evaluate the impact of the SRI technique within the framework of social innovation in Patna district, Bihar, India. In a wider context, the question is not about whether it is intensifying or not, rather emphasis should be on how farmers deal with changing environmental and socio-economic factors. Moreover, there is a need to delve deeper into implantation strategies in the local context and evaluate their impact in terms of opportunities and constraints during adaptation. In addition to this, an exploratory research design was followed to study SRI. Criterion and expert sampling were employed to select the farmers, and data were collected by a personal interview method with the help of a structured schedule. However, the data indicate the production and productivity of paddy are increased through SRI, but variation exists among different blocks of the district. It is clearly evident from the data that nearly 42 per cent of farmers from all blocks have witnessed an increase in food sufficiency. In the case of income due to the sale of excess produce is 57 per cent.

This paper aims to analyze empirically the impact of increased exports of industrial products on employment, household income (rich, average and poor) and sectoral and global economic growth in Morocco. The methodological approach used is the multiplier techniques based on the Social Accounting Matrix (SAM). For this we use the 2015 Morocco’s SAM. The results indicate that a generally positive impact on all sectoral and macroeconomic aggregates (production, added value, employment, transactions balance and GDP). For household’s income, the results indicate also that the impact would have benefited to the average households more than rich or poor households.

In this article the authors explore how Brexit changes the social meanings and uses of formal national and EU citizenship and how these meanings and uses are stratified, including by migratory experience, class and age. They do so through in-depth interviews with Britons in Belgium, EU27 citizens ‘by birth’ residing in the UK, and Bangladeshis who naturalised in Italy before moving to the UK. The article highlights the differences both between the three groups and within the groups, along lines of class and age, in the expectations regarding rights linked to citizenship, in the salience of different rights (e.g. freedom of movement, access to welfare, voting), and in the availability of alternative resources to contain the impact of Brexit. The authors argue that the Brexit process not only highlights the value of citizenship as well as the added value of a citizenship of an EU member state, but that it also reveals how the value of citizenships is internally stratified.

Purpose: As a case study illustrating the relationship between crisis management capabilities and the use of ICT techniques and technologies in public administration, the following text presents the evolution of selected ICT-based solutions used in the activities of the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) as an e-administration and their use in the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic. The article describes chronologically the most important projects in this area implemented and developed at ZUS from 2016 to the end of 2020. Methods: To achieve the objective a case study method has been chosen, i.e. a method of a qualitative nature, which, among other things, allows for: an in-depth description of an atypical phenomenon, and also on a broader and individualized analysis of the problem, allowing for its better understanding. The application of the case study method for presenting the impact of the pandemic (global crisis) on the use of information technology – in accordance with the assumption of using this method in the so-called narrow approach – made it possible to reconstruct the course of this relationship and its conditions. The case description was based on the analysis of legal acts, ZUS documents: annual reports on ZUS activities, strategic studies periodically prepared in ZUS, specifying the current objectives, directions and instruments of its planned development, information publications available on the ZUS website and thematic information available in the media. Findings: Using the example of the changes in the use of new techniques and information technologies in the Social Insurance Institution, it was shown how the process of automation and digitization was accelerated under the conditions of the pandemic. As a result, ZUS played the role of the main entity implementing government aid projects under crisis conditions. It is also a leader in e-administration development. Originality/value: The presented case study is an original paper, drawing attention to the potential of public institutions and conditions of its use in the global crisis situation. The added value of the study is the quotation of unpublished figures made available by ZUS. They enable an objective assessment of changes, the scale of described activities, as well as their effectiveness, measured e.g. by the number of activities, instruments and beneficiaries

A mathematical model has been developed and a study of the model of personal data protection from network clustering coefficient and data transfer intensity in social networks has been carried out. Dependencies of protection of the system from the size of the system (and from the amount of personal data); information security threats from the network clustering factor. A system of linear equations is obtained, which consists of the equation: rate of change of information flow from social network security and coefficients that reflect the impact of security measures, amount of personal data, leakage rate, change of information protection from network clustering factor, its size, personal data protection. As a result of solving the system of differential equations, mathematical and graphical dependences of the indicator of personal data protection in the social network from different components are obtained. Considering three options for solving the equation near the steady state of the system, we can conclude that, based on the conditions of the ratio of dissipation and natural frequency, the attenuation of the latter to a certain value is carried out periodically, with decaying amplitude, or by exponentially decaying law. A more visual analysis of the system behavior is performed, moving from the differential form of equations to the discrete one and modeling some interval of the system existence. Mathematical and graphical dependences of the system natural frequency, oscillation period, attenuation coefficient are presented. Simulation modeling for values with deviation from the stationary position of the system is carried out. As a result of simulation, it is proved that the social network protection system is nonlinear.
