This review article examines the development of ecotourism in national parks in the Republic of Karelia over the last 30 years. In Russia, the term “ecotourism” has appeared in newspapers and scholarly articles since the 1990s and its popularity is still increasing. The authorities in the Republic of Karelia have argued that tourism and especially ecotourism have the potential to become a major sector of the Republic’s economy. This article focuses on the meaning of this term internationally, and especially in the context of Russia and Karelia, and considers this definition through the lens of conventional historiography. The key issue of this research is the triangular relationship between ecotourists, local communities and wildlife conservation areas or national parks, where ecotourism functions as a major tool, connecting all these points. This paper applies comparative historical research methods as part of a qualitative approach, analysing a variety of primary sources including archive materials, interviews and forum discussions. The article concludes that the slow growth of ecotourism, despite the attempts of regional authorities and the assistance of the European Union, is due to several reasons including remote locations, poor infrastructure and the lack of symbolic meaning for national parks.

This chapter explains the neglect of the Republic of Vietnam in the American historical memory. It makes a personal appeal to the diasporic community for help in addressing this problem. Echoing the volume's view about the importance of memories, the chapter urges everyone who lived under the Republic of Vietnam to write memoirs, to grant interviews, and to share their memories. The most important kind of help from the community, the chapter argues, is to provide primary sources for historians. In addition, the chapter contends that the community should support Vietnamese studies, value the humanities and the social sciences as possible careers for their children, and support intellectual freedom.

In the article, the author analyzes some piano pieces written by the composers of the Republic of Moldova from the standpoint of determining how genre peculiarities and musical language elements of Moldavian folk songs and folk dances are reflected in them. In this light, an analysis of miniatures by Gh.Neaga, A.Starcea, C.Rusnac, and other Moldavian composers, which are a part of pedagogical repertoire in the country’s musical education institutions, is performed. The purpose of this article is to elucidate various forms of manifestation of national groundedness in the creations of Moldavian composers, the ways in which these forms evolved, and to characterize the evolution of the composers’ attitude towards the folk base of musical material. An examination of folk elements in the musical language of autochthonous piano pieces allows one to elucidate the national specificities of piano music by the composers of the Republic of Moldova, its originality and artistic uniqueness. Corporate income tax (CIT) is a fundamental tool of the fiscal system due to its sensitivity to economic cycles and the impact it can have on the economic decisions of enterprises. Although the justification of corporate income tax has been called into question in the current academic literature, it is one of the tax forms that can be used to stabilize and develop the economy, especially after the crisis. For this reason, this paper provides an analysis of corporate income tax in Serbia. The paper will focus on reduced CIT rates and tax incentives. Our work aims to contribute to the literature in two aspects. The first is to provide evidence that it is necessary to carry out parametric reform of corporate income tax. Another is providing additional literature on the COVID-19 crisis to form the basis for further economic research.

In this paper we will present the results of our survey on economic inequality, and its impact on economic growth in the Republic of Srpska. Here, we will express inequality as unequal distribution of the results and conditions of economic activity. To measure economic inequality we will use Theil's T index. Our basic assumption is  that unequal distribution of the results and conditions of economic activity, all in favor of the real sector of the economy, will lead to the real GDP growth. We find that unequal distribution of the results of the economic activity have positive impact on GDP growth, and that unequal distribution of the conditions of economic activity has negative impact on GDP growth. Our results shows that the economy of the Republic of Srpska is full of anomalies.

The article deals with the results of research performed on the primary sources of the Roman Law regarding offences against property contemporaneity criminalised in the Criminal Law (Sections 175. Theft, 176. Robbery, 179. Misappropriation) of modern-day Latvia. It describes and analyses the Roman Law legal regulation regarding abigeatus – the offence of cattle stealing or “rustling” which was considered as a more dangerous and serious offense than ordinary theft (furtum) and therefore more severely punishable. According to the information in the possession of the authors, Latvian researchers have not yet in particular studied the current theme, and the publications in the Latvian language have not been detected yet. Accordingly, the current article could provide certain contributions to the development of the national field of law, especially regarding the impact of Roman legal principles on the development of modern legal institutes incorporated in the law of the Republic of Latvia.

The paper analyzes the key aspects of economic inequality in the light of conflicting attitudes and arguments of various theoretical and methodological concepts. The conclusions of the empirical studies are outlined and indicate that economic growth is threatened in the conditions of escalation of inequality and the resultant undermining of the stability and efficiency of the economic and institutional system. On the other hand, we also evaluate the findings of those surveys showing that a strong redistribution of income leads to the reduction of the rate of economic growth, emphasizing that inequality is an important feature of the market economy. At the same time, we identify objective difficulties and the causes of insufficiently relevant understanding of problems related to uneven distribution of income, and the key dilemmas regarding the scientific evaluation of the implications of economic inequality are analyzed. It is pointed out that there is a need to distance the academic community from presenting empirically unfounded observations and unjustified exaggerations, as well as underestimating the economic and social challenges of solving the problem of uneven distribution of income. In this context, the results of the researches of economic inequality in the Republic of Serbia were analyzed, with reference to the role, position and orientation of the state in terms of designing and implementing measures aimed at mitigating its consequences on the economy and society.
