The Covid-19 outbreak has psychological impacts on frontline medical personnel at risk of infection. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the effect of online affirmations and peer support on medical personnel stress level in dealing with Covid-19 patients, as well as social support and spiritual intelligence's influence. It was a quasi-experiment with pre- and post-test administered to 25 and 30 medical personnel as the intervention and control groups, respectively. The intervention was carried out on WhatsApp group for 4 weeks. The stress level pair T-test results showed p = 0.000 in the intervention group and p = 0.238 in the control, while the independent T-test results showed p = 0.009. Social support did not affect medical personnel’s stress (p=0.978), but the effect of spiritual intelligence was significant (p=0.000). According to the results of multiple regression test conducted using the Enter method, the coefficient value (R2) = 0.584. This intervention was effective in helping medical personnel to manage stress. Hence, hospital managers need to carry out stress management training to maintain medical personnel’s mental health.

Online stress management training among junior high school male adolescents during school from home. This research aims to examine the effectiveness of an online stress management training program for male adolescents, between 12-15 years old, who are attending School from Home (SFH) due to pandemic COVID -19. Design of this research is a one-group design with three times measurement, which are pre-test, post-test, and a follow up, in a monthly interval between each measurement. The measurements are Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) and BRIEF COPE. The online training program is conducted through video conferencing meetings twice a week. One session of the program takes 90 minutes. Research participants consists of 6 male adolescents. The discovered data is then analyzed through Friedman test to identify a significant mean score's differences on the utilized instruments after the program. The result shows significant decrease of stress level followed by the significant improvement of the use of adaptive coping strategy. So, online stress management training can be an effective program to help high school adolescents to lower down their stress level during school from home in Pandemic COVID-19.

Background High-fidelity simulation improves participant learning through immersive participation in a stressful situation. Stress management training might help participants to improve performance. The hypothesis of this work was that Tactics to Optimize the Potential, a stress management program, could improve resident performance during simulation. Methods Residents participating in high-fidelity simulation were randomized into two parallel arms (Tactics to Optimize the Potential or control) and actively participated in one scenario. Only residents from the Tactics to Optimize the Potential group received specific training a few weeks before simulation and a 5-min reactivation just before beginning the scenario. The primary endpoint was the overall performance during simulation measured as a composite score (from 0 to 100) combining a specific clinical score with two nontechnical scores (the Ottawa Global Rating Scale and the Team Emergency Assessment Measure scores) rated for each resident by four blinded independent investigators. Secondary endpoints included stress level, as assessed by the Visual Analogue Scale during simulation. Results Of the 134 residents randomized, 128 were included in the analysis. The overall performance (mean ± SD) was higher in the Tactics to Optimize the Potential group (59 ± 10) as compared with controls ([54 ± 10], difference, 5 [95% CI, 1 to 9]; P = 0.010; effect size, 0.50 [95% CI, 0.16 to 0.91]). After specific preparation, the median Visual Analogue Scale was 17% lower in the Tactics to Optimize the Potential group (52 [42 to 64]) than in the control group (63 [50 to 73]; difference, −10 [95% CI, −16 to −3]; P = 0.005; effect size, 0.44 [95% CI, 0.26 to 0.59]. Conclusions Residents coping with simulated critical situations who have been trained with Tactics to Optimize the Potential showed better overall performance and a decrease in stress level during high-fidelity simulation. The benefits of this stress management training may be explored in actual clinical settings, where a 5-min Tactics to Optimize the Potential reactivation is feasible prior to delivering a specific intervention. PurposeThe purpose of this study is to examine the experience of stress by national corporate security managers in the United Kingdom and how they manage it.Design/methodology/approachA qualitative approach was adopted where in-depth semi-structured one-to-one interviews with 22 male participants were conducted as the method of data collection. This was analysed using hybrid thematic analysis.FindingsThree overarching themes were elicited, namely: “Resilience”, “Synergy” and “Work/life balance”. The outcome showed that stress management by security managers is moulded by an interaction of various facets, with an emphasis on “resilience” having 66% of content occurrence, a factor which complements and enriches the job demand–control-support (JDCS) theoretical framework (Johnson and Hall, 1988).Practical implicationsThe paper argues the importance of the interaction between resilience and the dimensions of the JDCS. The research indicates the interaction is important in how practitioners can develop interventions in reducing stress in the workplace.Social implicationsThis research outcome implies that employees in managerial positions should be provided with resilience assessment and training to enhance their job effectiveness and well-being. Resilience needs to be recognised as an important trainable skill and stress management training should emphasise the enhancement of resilience.Originality/valueThis type of qualitative investigation on the lived experiences of stress management and how this affected one's resilience's in a high-stress industry is innovative as past research is mostly quantitative.
