Creativity is thus a concept to value in higher education, but that valuation implies changes in the educational practices. A relevant source of information in order to promote creative skills in college students is to gather what they think about those skills. Through the questionnaire "University and Creative Skills" the perceptions of 582 Portuguese university students about the conceptualization and valorization of creativity in the academic contexts were analyzed. The perceptions were analyzed according to the students curriculum area and gender. Data suggest significant statistical differences in function of both variables. The results allow reflections towards further developments of this study but also point directions to reinforce deliberate educational practices in this level of education. Keywords:Creativity; Higher Education; College students; Perceptions

The general self-efficacy scale and test anxiety scale are utilized for the questionnaire survey among 188 normal university students. The relationship between their general self-efficacy and test anxiety, the difference of general self-efficacy in gender and major, and difference of test anxiety in gender and major are discussed. The results indicate that there is a significant negative correlation between general self-efficacy and test anxiety of normal college students; there is a significant difference in gender and major for general self-efficacy; there is no significant difference in gender but in major for test anxiety.

Introduction: Regular practice of physical activity is important to prevent and treat psychobiological dysfunctions and improve the quality of life. Insufficient levels of exercise have been considered a risk factor for diseases, mainly cardiovascular disorders. The evidences about the levels of physical activity in college students are inconsistent, especially in physical education undergraduate programs. Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the level of physical activity in Physical Education college students of the Universidade Federal da Paraíba, considering gender, undergraduate program (degree or bachelor) and term time. Method: The study design is transversal, and 159 subjects answered the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), short version. Results: Most of the college students were classified as active and very actives (77.4%) and, only 22.7% were insufficiently actives. It was observed a significant association between the level of physical activity and the term time (p=0.001), with a linear and progressive trend to towards an increase in the number of inactive/insufficiently active students. There was not significant association (p=0.088) between the level of physical activity and the first or second half of the undergraduate program. College’s Bachelor students of were more active than college’s Licentiate students, however, without significant association (p=0.181). In the difference between genders, women have higher levels of physical activity than men, but without significant association (p=0.797). Conclusion: The results show that students of physical education present appropriate levels of physical activity and students of the last term time are less active than first term time students.

Abstract: Introduction: Alcoholism is the recent trend among college students. Various studies conducted in India as well as in the West show clear indications of increasing prevalence of alcohol consumption among youngsters. Studies conducted abroad also revealed that the gap between males and females consuming alcohol is narrowing Objective: Our study was aimed at measuring the prevalence of alcohol consumption among college students and analyzing its variation with respect to gender. Materials and Methods: A survey was carried out in the colleges under NITTE University. Students present at the day and time of visit were covered. A questionnaire was prepared comprising of a set of 14 questions covering the main objective of the survey. The students were asked to fill the questionnaire irrespective of their gender or whether they consume alcohol or not. Results: We have conducted our survey in 1150 college students.713 females and 337 males participated in the survey. Out of 1150 students, 304(26.4%) consumes alcohol.167 (54.9%) were males and 137 (45.1%) were females. Most of them were social drinkers . Majority of them consumed 2-3 drinks in one sitting. Tendency of binge drinking is high. Conclusions: The prevalence of alcohol consumption comes up to a quarter of the total population surveyed most of them being social drinkers with males outnumbering females but with a visible reduction in the observed gap.. A survey was conducted among students of 3 colleges to acquire the necessary data which were analyzed to form the conclusions.

The EPPS and a true-false version (TF-EPPS) were compared on three S dimensions: sex (males and females), age-education (college students and adults), SD (high and low). The SD content of both tests is prominent, although it is much greater in the TF-EPPS. However, SD is not important for differential functioning of Ss, since profile differences between high and low SD Ss are smaller than between males and females or college students and adults The matching format of the EPPS produces a slight reduction in differential SD effect and an increased sensitivity to S variables other than SD. A potential, subtle, SD mechanism is identified by which Ss may respond differentially. Implications for ipsative and normative measurement and evaluation are discussed.

In this study we surveyed the dominant normal stool flora of randomly selected healthy, young (18-23 years old), unmarried (doctrinal) Iraqi college students (males and females) for the carriage of extraintestinal pathogenic E. coli (ExPEC). ExPEC virulence was detected phenotypically by mannose resistant hemagglutination of human red blood cells (MRHA) and mannose sensitive (MS) agglutination of Bakers' yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisceae). From 88 college students, 264 E. coli isolates were obtained (3 isolates per person): 123 from 41 females and 141 from 47 males. Of these isolates, 56% (149/264) caused MS agglutination of yeast cells and 4.16% (11/264) showed MRHA. Eighty two percent (9/11) of the isolates with MRHA also caused MS agglutination of yeast cells. Statistically the difference is not significant (P < 0.05) among males and females regarding the MS agglutination of yeast cells: 59% (72/123) of females' isolates vs. 55% (77/141) of males' isolates. Conversely, the difference is clear regarding the carriage of isolates with MRHA. All the isolates with MRHA were distributed among females' dominant stool flora (11/123: 8.94%) whereas none of the males' dominant stool flora showed MRHA (0/141: 0%). Five females out of 41 (12.19%) had isolates with MRHA. All the three isolates in 2 of these 5 females showed MRHA, 2 isolates in another 2 showed MRHA, and only one isolate in 1 female caused MRHA. Therefore we can say that the difference among males and females in fecal carriage of E. coli ,with characteristics of ExPEC, can be a predisposing factor of females to ExPEC infections more than males.
