Church discipline – is semper reformanda in a time and space warp? Church discipline has become an anachronism in the life of the Christian faith community. In part, this results from a misunderstanding of the fundamental meaning of the term. Its early emphasis was on spiritual nurture, discipling people into the faith and into a relationship with one another and God. By the time of the Reformation, it took on a legalistic and rigid form that militated against its earlier approach. This resulted from a misunderstanding of key reformers from the Reforming tradition such as John Calvin and John Knox, who were concerned to build up individuals within the Christian community to become responsible members of society. In this way, discipline is transformative of individuals and society. The work of discipline was closely related both to pastoral care and Christian education and offered a corrective to Medieval discipline, where the concept of discipline was distorted when the use of punitive discipline as a last resort was elevated to become the norm. This situation was replicated in the post-Reformation period. Consequently, it now needs to be rehabilitated in the form of discipling or mentorship in order to restore its usefulness as an educative tool in the process of the pilgrimage towards the kingdom of God.

AbstractThe modern and post-modern worldviews are inimical to the worldview of theistic religions and the fundamental assumptions and credal articulations of the Christian faith. John Shelbey Spong has characterised the situation of Christians who take seriously the (post)modern worldview as well as their commitment to Jesus of Nazareth and the biblical tradition as 'living in exile.' In this article I explore to what extent the insights of New Testament historical scholarship, specifically John Dominic Crossan's concept of the passion-resurrection narratives as prophecy-historicised, as well as his historical construct of Jesus as the founder of the Kingdom Movement, could enable a reformulation of basic Christian concepts so that commitments to Christianity and (post)modernism can be held in a creative and meaningful tension. It is suggested that Christians in exile can return and contribute to the Christian community and tradition, and to the transformation of the (post)modern world, if the Church recognizes that different interpretations of Jesus can exist creatively side by side within the tradition. On the basis of Crossan's research-findings it is argued that that is exactly what happened at the birth of Christianity. It remains a possibility today.

Jeg diskuterer med bakgrunn i SECI-modellen hvordan den lokale trosopplæringsplanen og evalueringsrapportene kan spille en viktigere rolle som kollektive kunnskapsressurser, som blir utvikla og brukt i tverrfaglig samarbeid.Nøkkelord: trosopplæring, kunnskapsutvikling, SECI, taus kunnskap, planrevisjon, evalueringChristian education in the Church of Norway is formalised through local curricula in each congregation, documents that are created and maintained locally based on centrally given regulations and resources. The process in which the local curricula are developed, is in this article understood in terms of the SECI model of Nonaka et al. (2000), as a dialectical knowledge creation process between tacit and explicit knowledge. Analysing the regulations and resources for the local curriculum development, I find that there is a lack of resources developing the curriculum based on existing tacit knowledge, except from the given evaluation routines. I also discuss, supported by the SECI model, how the local curriculum and the evaluation reports can play a more important role as shared, collective knowledge assets, developed and used in interdisciplinary/interprofessional cooperation. Keywords: Christian education, knowledge creation, SECI, tacit knowledge, curriculum development, evaluation

The curriculum is an instrument to run an education system to be more targeted in accordance with what is aspired in national education. The development of community life that is very dynamic and can even happen quickly requires the development of the curriculum must also be able to adjust to the development of this social life. Indonesia is known as a multicultural country that consists of diverse tribes and religions that inhabit this region. The diversity of cultural patterns in ethnicity and religion can certainly be a trigger for friction between each of these groups. To overcome this, the world of education in facing this challenge needs to think about how curriculum development that leads to harmony that responds to this multicultural situation. Curriculum development cannot be separated from several instruments, namely the objective component, affective domain, and psychomotor domain. Likewise in the multicultural-based Islamic religious education curriculum which must also refer to these domains despite having the goal of helping to create a life that is tolerant of the multicultural life of Indonesian people. The research method used in this research is the literature study method by examining several literature studies in the form of books, journals, archives and other documentation about the curriculum which can then be analyzed for inclusion in multicultural-based Islamic religious education curriculum development.

AbstractFor several reasons in missionary ecumenical circles healing could become the new paradigm for mission. One of the main reasons is that in churches in the Southern hemisphere healing is the central focus of the local Christian community. Church life is characterized by the conviction that not the mere change of political structures will lead to a better world. Liberation from evil, forgiveness, medical care, mutual acceptance and common socio-political engagement, all are inspired by the integral message of the gospel. The author gives several examples of African Christian communities in the Netherlands that may be called healing communities and are an inspiration for new forms of living the Christian faith, badly needed for the white middle class congregations that are weakened by secularism and Enlightenment.
