Abstract Background The ergonomic applied to Dental Medicine aims to develop an ergonomically planned environment, with equipment rationally distributed, to reduce physical and cognitive stress, prevent diseases related to professional exercise, increasing productivity, improving the quality of service provided and reducing fatigue in the working team. However, physical work usually imposes muscle tension on the musculoskeletal system that can culminate in work-related trauma, commonly called Musculoskeletal Disorder. Methods We proposed as an objective, to evaluate how the ergonomic risks in Medical-Dental Clinics, which can cause work-related Musculoskeletal Injuries, influence the quality of life and health of the workers. The checklist was applied based on the legislation in force and, at the same time, a questionnaire was applied for consultation with the workers; identification of the tasks of all workers and their associated risks has been carried out; ergonomic studies of the workstations concerned have been carried out and, in the light of the results obtained, preventive measures have been indicated to address the problems. Results Through the Rula Method, we evaluated the level of performance in relation to the tasks performed and found that most of these corresponded to level 3, which corresponded to values between 5 and 6 and indicated that changes should occur briefly. Conclusion It was concluded that the most outstanding area in need of rapid changes was the surgical area, since it requires more effort on the part of these professionals. It is therefore proposed to implement new measures to improve health and well-being and avoid ergonomically incorrect postures.

Family caregivers of persons with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia experience high level of burden and compromised quality of life. A considerable amount of burden on the caregivers often leads to display of certain attitudes towards persons with severe mental illness called expressed emotion, which then leads to poor quality of patients as well. Although numerous studies dealing with these issues separately are present, but studies dealing with relationship, using mixed methodology, among these issues are scarce. The aim of the present study was to understand how actually the construct of quality of life in different demographic conditions affect life conditions of schizophrenic and bipolar patients and determining relapse. The present study was designed mainly to assess the quality of life on patients and the families of a particular group of patients namely those with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. The objectives if the present research were to study: (i) the quality of life of patients with Schizophrenia and Bipolar Affective disorder. (ii) the quality of life of caregivers of patients with Schizophrenia and Bipolar Affective disorder. Patients with disorders such as schizophrenia and bipolar affective disorder are more likely to relapse when there is high expressed emotion present in their living environment. The stress from the remarks and attitudes of the family is overwhelming because they feel like the cause of the problems. The patient then falls into the cycle of relapse. The only way to escape this vortex for the family is to go through therapy together to prevent the relapse. But before that it becomes necessary to understand that what is the reason behind such attitude towards a family member who is mentally ill, what is the cause of burden and what all changes the caregivers’ and the patients’ quality of life come across.

In light of the exponential rise in international student numbers for decades—a rise that has narrowed in the last 2 years—many higher education institutions around the world have been called to consider questions around the value of the internationalization of higher education. A changing view of internationalization’s benefits was identified in a global survey conducted by the International Association of Universities. The results indicated that “enhanced international cooperation and capacity building” has become a more important benefit, and neither “increased international awareness of/deeper engagement with global issues” nor “quality of teaching and learning” were in the top three benefits at the global level (Marinoni et al., 2019). Therefore, it is more important than ever for higher education professionals to rethink current pedagogy around international student instruction. International Encounters is among the newest contributions to ongoing discussions of international students’ learning experiences in higher education.

Nowadays, health problems involving work-related stress are an increasingly common reality. In this context, there are professions and professionals who are more exposed and subject to these types of pathologies, such as education professionals. Studies conducted around the world indicate that educators are at great risk of suffering physical and/or mental exhaustion, which involve the material and psychological difficulties associated with the exercise of teaching activity. It is known that such health problems greatly compromise the quality of life of these professionals and, among these, depression in its manifestations that can involve melancholy and sadness in various forms and at various levels stands out. The commitment of the quality of life of these professionals makes it increasingly necessary to deepen research and approaches that can collaborate in order to find alternatives that minimize the effects of this evil. Due to the above, this work aims to conduct a study on depression and its occurrence among teachers. As a methodology, a bibliographic research was carried out with a review of studies and authors that deepen the approach to subjects depression, depression among teachers, melancholy and alternatives to coping with depression.

Background: The practice of physical activity appropriate to individual conditions and with proper education, brings physical, psychological and social benefits. Objectives: To investigate the main reasons for the adherence and the abandonment of the practice of physical activity. Method: The present work consists of a review study of a propositional type (reflection journal writing) on the reasons of adherence and abandonment to the practice of physical activity. Results: The results showed that among the reasons cited for adherence to physical exercise are the search for: health, aesthetics/physical appearance, socialization, medical order, improvement of physical fitness and quality of life, leisure, well-being, control of corporal weight, competition, pleasure and satisfaction in the practice of exercise, among others. On the other hand, among the reasons for abandonment are: lack of time, laziness, gym distant from the home or work, high cost, influence of the family or media, and work routine. Conclusion: Through the findings, it can be concluded that there is a need for attention by physical education professionals, in addition to the use of efficient strategies to motivate students, with the purpose of getting them to adhere the practice of physical activity and, with that, less people will give up the regular practice of systematized physical activities.

The existence of stakeholders in accreditation at every level of education plays a vital role. Their opinions determine the quality of an institution. This paper aims to show research trends related to the part of stakeholders in university accreditation. The method used is a bibliometric analysis of the Scopus database using VOSviewer software. The researcher selected eight hundred ten documents from journal articles and conference proceedings in English through the selection process. The results of the co-occurrence analysis show 4 clusters of related keyword groups. Four keywords that are very influential in the research theme are quality assurance with 142 occurrences, accreditation with 83 occurrences, stakeholders with 28 occurrences, and assessment with 24 occurrences. The relationship between concepts within one cluster and between clusters is shown through network visualization. By visualizing overlays, future work related to stakeholders in higher education accreditation can be mapped, including topics on organizational culture, governance, change management, partnership, and employability. This study concludes that bibliometric analysis through VOSviewer is proven to be able to show trends and future work for stakeholder research in higher education.

The study evaluates the Happiness Department initiative in a Gulf Higher Education Institute (GHEI). The Department seeks to create a state of wellbeing among the teaching faculty members by mitigating the identified key stressors. The objectives of the study were: (i) To determine the correlation between stressors and faculty perception of the Happiness Department. (ii) Propose amendments to the WRQoL questionnaire to assist administrators in testing program efficacy. (iii). We found that to boost happiness, schools should indeed focus on the identified stressors. This exploratory study design uses the predetermined WRQoL Scale. It was found to be an accurate measure of overall work satisfaction. However, we present an adaptive model. The adaptive model we propose may be better suited for Gulf-based institutions. Faculty members unanimously perceive that a happiness department should exist that is tasked with minimising the workplace stressors.

Educational credentials play an important role in the job attainment process. To employers, academic credentials signal that a prospective employee has acquired certain competencies that certify readiness for the workplace. As grantors of educational credentials, higher education institutions (HEIs) are entrusted with the important duty of preparing graduates to enter the workforce. In order to better understand what employers need from HEIs in terms of preparing recent graduates for the workforce and the degree to which employers currently view the performance of HEIs in terms of preparing graduates to meet these needs, a review of the literature concerning employers’ perceptions of HEI performance was conducted for the current study. Sources were reviewed and analyzed for reoccurring ideas or themes in the literature. Three themes emerged from the review: (a) the need for work-related skills, (b) the need for internships, and (c) skepticism toward for-profit higher education (FPHE) graduates. Suggestions for future research are offered based on the emergent themes. This study is beneficial to prospective college students, college administrators, employers, and higher education professionals and scholars.
