Background: Housewives are synonymous with household chores. These activities are carried out regularly, such as washing clothes, cooking, shopping, sweeping floors, washing dishes, cleaning the house. Housewives also carry out regular activities such as mopping, ironing, sweeping the yard, and gardening. Intensive activities and inappropriate positions performed by housewives have the potential to cause musculoskeletal complaints in the upper extremities such as pain or tingling sensation. Efforts that can be made to reduce these complaints are counseling on the application of the Joint Protection Technique (JPT). JPT aims to reduce pain and improve joint function through the use of an ergonomic approach such as changing movement patterns, modifying tasks and the environment. After participating in extension activities, it is hoped that housewives will be able to apply JPT in household activities without musculoskeletal complaints. Methods: Health education was carried out by distributing leaflets via the WhatApps group, lecturing on explaining images printed on leaflets and demonstrating the application of JPT in housekeeping activities. The counseling participants were housewives in RW 8, Kebakkalang, Kemiri Village, Kebakkramat District. The counseling activity took place at the house of one of the residents using equipment such as brooms, buckets of water, clothes, grocery bags, irons, and cooking utensils. Results: Counseling activities were carried out during March 2021 with 16 housewives as participants. Counseling activities still pay attention to health protocols, namely maintaining distance and wearing masks. Participants are able to demonstrate directly the application of the JPT principles in the activities of sweeping, washing clothes, shopping for vegetables, ironing, and cooking with real household context and equipment. Conclusion: Domestic work that is carried out by applying the JPT principle can be carried out without reducing the quality of the work, making the work stages simpler and not causing fatigue.

Aims The aim of this study was to evaluate health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and joint function in tenosynovial giant cell tumour (TGCT) patients before and after surgical treatment. Patients and Methods This prospective cohort study run in two Dutch referral centres assessed patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs; 36-Item Short-Form Health Survey (SF-36), visual analogue scale (VAS) for pain, and Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC)) in 359 consecutive patients with localized- and diffuse-type TGCT of large joints. Patients with recurrent disease (n = 121) and a wait-and-see policy (n = 32) were excluded. Collected data were analyzed at specified time intervals preoperatively (baseline) and/or postoperatively up to five years. Results A total of 206 TGCT patients, 108 localized- and 98 diffuse-type, were analyzed. Median age at diagnosis of localized- and diffuse-type was 41 years (interquartile range (IQR) 29 to 49) and 37 years (IQR 27 to 47), respectively. SF-36 analyses showed statistically significant and clinically relevant deteriorated preoperative and immediate postoperative scores compared with general Dutch population means, depending on subscale and TGCT subtype. After three to six months of follow-up, these scores improved to general population means and continued to be fairly stable over the following years. VAS scores, for both subtypes, showed no statistically significant or clinically relevant differences pre- or postoperatively. In diffuse-type patients, the improvement in median WOMAC score was statistically significant and clinically relevant preoperatively versus six to 24 months postoperatively, and remained up to five years’ follow-up. Conclusion Patients with TGCT report a better HRQoL and joint function after surgery. Pain scores, which vary hugely between patients and in patients over time, did not improve. A disease-specific PROM would help to decipher the impact of TGCT on patients’ daily life and functioning in more detail. Cite this article: Bone Joint J 2019;101-B:272–280.

Abstract Objective To analyze the application of concept nursing of accelerated rehabilitation surgery in orthopedic postoperative recovery. Methods A total of 120 patients who received orthopedic surgery were divided into the control group undergoing routine orthopedic nursing and the observation group undergoing the concept of accelerated rehabilitation surgery nursing. Results Patients in the observation group had shorter in-bed activity time and out-of-bed activity time, average time of hospital stay, and lower total treatment costs. The incidence of incision infection, respiratory system infection, digestive tract infection, urinary tract infection, deep vein thrombosis, and other complications in the observation group was much lower. The recovery scores of joint function in the observation group at 1, 3, 6, and 12 months after the operation were all better, and the recovery rate of joint function within 1 year after the operation was higher. Conclusion Following the concept of accelerated rehabilitation surgery nursing during the perioperative period can improve the quality of postoperative orthopedic recovery.

Background:Health education is pointed out as the front line in non-pharmacological approaches in fibromyalgia.Objectives:To develop an interdisciplinary educational program to promote the health of individuals with fibromyalgia in Brazil.Methods:This is a qualitative study, through a focus group, carried out in a Basic Health Unit in the city of São Paulo, SP. The guiding questions were about the needs and demands exposed by patients with fibromyalgia and health professionals who work in primary health care. 12 individuals with fibromyalgia and 10 health professionals participated. The data were analyzed using the content analysis method proposed by Bardin, specifically the thematic content analysis.Results:Amigos de Fibro (Fibro Friends) should be conducted through lectures, dynamics and conversation circles. The educational program must include 15 meetings with weekly frequency. The meetings are: 1st to present the program and socialization activities. 2nd: Doctor presents the concepts of fibromyalgia. 3rd: Nurse informs about practices and environments that favor self-care. 4th: Social Worker shows the importance of support. 5th: Physiotherapist shows the main body practices and physical activity. 6th: Nutritionist presents an adequate and healthy diet. 7: Psychologist shows mental health practices. 8th: Pharmacist informs about medicines. 9, 11 and 13: participants perform activities at home. 10: Naturologist presents integrative and complementary practices. 12th: Occupational Therapist encourages methods to save energy. Day 14: Speech therapist helps in the quality of sleep. 15: closing activity.Conclusion:Amigos de Fibro is a program that presents interdisciplinary educational information for individuals with fibromyalgia, being considered a trend of care for the future. The next step is to conduct a clinical trial to verify the effect of this intervention and then implement it in the health service in Brazil. Fibro Friends was created from the conjunct action of patients and healthcare professionals, it can be an effective educational tool to be implemented at primary health attention centers, promoting the self-care, life quality and the promotion of health in individuals with Fibromyalgia. Abstract Education is a key to creating solidary among the professionals who advance public health’s interdisciplinary mission. Our assumption is that if all those who work in public health shared core knowledge and the skills for interdisciplinary interaction, collaboration across disciplines, venues, and countries would be facilitated. Evaluation of education is an essential element of pedagogy to ensure quality and consistency across boundaries, as articulated by the UNESCO education standards. Our study examined the evaluation studies done by programs that educate public health professionals. We searched the peer reviewed literature published in English between 2000-2017 pertaining to the education of the public health workforce at a degree-granting level. The 2442 articles found covered ten health professions disciplines and had lead authors representing all continents. Only 86 articles focused on evaluation. The majority of the papers examined either a single course, a discipline-specific curriculum or a teaching method. No consistent methodologies could be discerned. Methods ranged from sophisticated regression analyses and trends tracked over time to descriptions of focus groups and interviews of small samples. We found that evaluations were primarily discipline-specific, lacked rigorous methodology in many instances, and that relatively few examined competencies or career expectations. The public health workforce enjoys a diversity of disciplines but must be able to come together to share diverse knowledge and skills. Evaluation is critical to achieving a workforce that is well trained in the competencies pertinent to collaboration. This study informs the pedagogical challenges that must be confronted going forward, starting with a commitment to shared core competencies and to consistent and rigorous evaluation of the education related to training public health professionals. Key messages Rigorous evaluation is not sufficiently used to enhance the quality of public health education. More frequent use of rigorous evaluation in public health education would enhance the quality of public health workforce, and enable cross-disciplinary and international collaboration for solidarity.
