ABSTRACTThis paper aims to discuss and describe a possible approach on the subject Linear Programming in High School. A constant question we hear from our students, especially in high school, is in relation to the applicability of the contents studied in mathematics. The study of contextualized problems involving linear equations and inequalities solved by certain methods, which are studied in linear programming, can help students understand the applicability of mathematics as well as the content and interrelationships among various mathematical concepts. Despite being heavily exploited a content in higher education, here's your chance during an initial study using only basic education concepts already studied in previous years.RESUMOO presente trabalho pretende discutir e descrever uma possível abordagem sobre o tema Programação Linear no Ensino Médio.

Therefore, these research aimed to propose the creation and use of didactic-pedagogical resources for teaching Physical Geography. For this, the textbook “Geographical Expeditions” of the 6th year of middle school was analyzed in order to identify gaps in the content. We opted for the analysis of the 6th grade book, because it has, according to the BNCC and the Carioca Curriculum, more content focused on the subject of Physical Geography. According to the Brazilian Common Core Curriculum and the Carioca Curriculum, the 6th grade has more content about physical geography. The pedagogical materials and activities developed were based on the gaps found in the textbook. It was also observed that such content has gaps, such as the lack of integration between themes related to sustainability, socio-environmental risks and soils. It is concluded that the development of playful materials for teaching Physical Geography is a tool that can contribute to meaningful learning. In addition, it was found that recreational activities are important for Physical Geography learning. Keywords Pedagogical resources, Playful materials, Geographic Education, Carioca Curriculum.

http://dx.doi.org/10.5902/2179460X14491This paper presents a proposal for the introduction of linear programming in high school considering teaching methods, the teacher and student profiles, and a non-flexibilization of the curriculum. This proposal came as a result of a Stricto Sensu research, which deals with simple problems that encourage high school students to understand Linear Programming by means of a contextualization of studied topics, as resolution of linear equations. The aim is to show to these students the range of real-world problems that can be solved using Linear Programming, with the application of methods to solve systems of linear equations and the support of mathematical softwares. The proposal presented here has not been applied in classrooms yet, but it is expected that students will be able to understand in a contextualized view where linear systems can be applied, the importance of mathematical modeling and the need of to use a mathematical software to solve real big data problems.

The continuity of education must be seamless. Hence, adjustments in the basic education curriculum also calls for adjustments in the higher education curriculum to ensure the continuity of the learning process after transitioning from senior high school to tertiary education. Philippine Higher Educational Institutions is challenged everyday with the series of developments happening in the country. As such, adapting to these developments must be captured though curricular reforms in the PHEI curriculum. This short reflection deals with the adjustments made by the higher education in the Philippines in order to align themselves with the curricular reforms made in the basic education.

The number line is a powerful instructional tool for teaching the meaning of many mathematical concepts taught in middle school, including numerical operations. The number line can also be used as a tool for thinking about algebraic concepts taught in high school, such as an abstract or algebraic understanding of distance, absolute value, and inequalities.

Pattern recognition is one of the most important devices that we use in understanding mathematical concepts and principles, as well as in solving mathematics problems. In middle school and high school mathematics classes, students commonly study several specific cases of a problem situation and then attempt to generalize to the nth case. A problem about partitioning a circular region with chords, sometimes called Moser's circle problem, illustrates that one must be careful when using inductive reasoning to generalize.

The following is an abbreviated account of a three-hour interview with Chang Hsüeh-hsin of the Higher Education Bureau of the Education Ministry in Peking. The interview took place on 19 July 1977. My purpose in requesting it was to discover the policy changes that were being contemplated by the new Chinese administration in the controversial field of education. Few concrete details on the subject had appeared in the press up to that time, although renewed emphasis on science and technology, together with travellers' tales and other informal sources of information, all suggested that major changes were in the offing. Comrade Chang confirmed that such changes were underway, although not finally decided upon. The announcement by People's Daily on 22 October that the college entrance examination would be unified and that all candidates should be senior middle school graduates or the equivalent, indicates two decisions taken after the interview.

The problem of weights in teaching statistics Abstract: This paper presents a proposal for high school filling with the use of more emphatic weights in Basic Education, based on the teaching and professional experiences of authors. Note that a lot of time is usually spent teaching statistics with point estimates as average, among others, but without the use of sample weights. That is, it is not a means of education without students in the final years of high school and, in higher education, or in later work environments, a weighted worker. However, no work of statistics in the world is essential to use them. Keywords: Statistical Education; Basic Education; Weightings.
