ABSTRACTThis article discusses the reflective dialog from the documented experience with regard to teaching methodologies in subjects of practices, corresponding to the career of educational psychology, during an academic year at the Universidad Andres Bello, Viña del Mar, Chile. The question that guides the work said relationship to how you generate reflection in the university. On the basis of this research is established what we call a reflective rationality, process of poor practice to the inside of the university training, which involves among others, a dialectical process. Installing the need of setting up an identity of the professor that form trainers. This identity would be the one that allows in the good teachers a capacity of connection. They are able to weave a complex network of relations between themselves, their subjects and their students (Weller, 2010). In order that these become explicit there be had problematize the educational experience, it will have to become irregular, and it needs of one to want, of not refusing to the analysis of that one that it has been an engine of educational acts.RESUMENEste artículo analiza el diálogo reflexivo a partir de la experiencia documentada respecto a metodologías docentes en asignaturas de prácticas, correspondiente a la carrera de psicopedagogía, durante un año académico en la Universidad Andrés Bello, Viña del Mar, Chile. Contacto principal: [email protected]

This article reports on a study with two main purposes: on the one hand to look into the revision process in translation from Norwegian into Spanish, especially the revision of the title of a text, and on the other hand to compare the translation behavior of three different groups of participants with regard to the translation and revision of the title. The study was carried out by analyzing Translog keystroke data from language students, translation students, and professional translators during the 2011–2012 academic year at the University of Bergen, Norway. The study results show a lack of cohesion between the title and the body of the text in some of the target texts, and indicate that the number of revisions and the variations in the solutions of the translation of the title increase according to the subjects’ experience and translation training. The study also indicates that an additional phase of the translation process may be identified in keystroke data from Translog.

“Übersetzen ist die Verwendung des Verstandenen,” wrote the late Hans Vermeer in 1986. Seen within the context of Vermeer’s Skopos theory, translation is at its core a dual process of understanding and applying this understanding in the production of a target text. I intend to discuss the essence of Vermeer’s quote against the background of specialized translation and interpreting. In particular, I will be focusing on the two main aspects of translation highlighted in the quote, the cognitive dimension of translation as information processing on the one hand and the pragmatic dimension of the purposeful application of that information in the transfer and production phases of the translation process on the other hand. At the heart of my paper lies a didactic model for the development of information processing and information application competence in the university training of future translators and interpreters. The main focus of the discussion will be on terminology in general and, following Teresa Cabré’s “theory of doors,” on the cognitive and pragmatic dimensions of terminological units in particular. The objective is to combine terminological (concept-oriented) approaches with textographical (corpus-driven) ones, so as to show, first, how terminological units can be organized in mono and multilingual knowledge structures and, second, how, based on a digital corpus search, these units can be implemented into the norm-guided production of the target text.

PurposeRetail management has acquired the attention of scholars and practitioners, with many international and prestigious journals specifically relating to the topic. Also, top-tier journals in other disciplines have proposed special issues on the new advances in retailing, with emphasis on the role of new and smart technologies. On the one hand, the research in retailing seems to be prolific; on the other hand, the interest in retail education (from a research and university perspective) seems to be more limited. The purpose of this paper is to capture the (mis)match between the leading universities' offerings and job demand in the UK. In this way, the paper identifies opportunities for educators and researchers to educate future career-ready professionals in retailing and improve research in retail education.Design/methodology/approachThe research evaluates the offer of UK retail education in terms of programmes/courses, focusing on the Russell Group universities for the academic year 2020/2021 (September starts) and the demand of certain skills and competences by the largest retailers in the UK. The study utilizes secondary data based on the courses/programmes specifically related to the retail sector and on the job opportunities through the leading UK grocery retailers.FindingsThe findings reveal the extent of the gap between the university educational offerings and the requirements from retailers.Originality/valueTo the best of authors’ knowledge, this paper is the first attempt to capture and compare multiple evidence bases related to academic curriculums and employers' requirements for specific retail competencies.

The aim of this research is to analyse the metaphorical expressions designed by Science of Sport and Physical Activity university students of first academic year, as a tool of inquiring two research questions: on the one hand, their perceptions of their physical education teachers, and the other hand, the meaning physical activity has in students’ personal life. 51 students from the University of Alicante have participated in the study. Qualitative data analysis software AQUAD 7 was used for data processing. The results obtained from the analysis of the metaphors designed by students showed that their view of physical education teachers was very positive. The findings also indicate that sport and physical activity were considered to be essential and a source of emotional and physical health. The conclusions also highlighted that students don’t strengthen the social dimension of physical activity, and that it could be imperative to foster a more collaborative learning.

Statement of the problem. Nowadays, "digital media" is not just a term in everyday life, it is a common phenomenon. In connection with the emerging problem of combating coronavirus, there is a need to formulate new requirements for the educational design of higher education and/or make appropriate changes to them. Digital technologies provide the potential, on the one hand, to provide new ways of learning and support learning processes, and on the other hand, to prepare students for life and work in a "digitized" world. Consequently, teachers also need new competency profiles in order to reflect and use digital opportunities and digital tools in a timely manner. The article analyzes the information openness of universities in accordance with the requirements of the current legislation of the Russian Federation in the field of education. The organization of the educational activities of universities and the ensuring of the access of students and research and teaching staff to the information and educational resources are considered. The stages of developing the digital learning blocks within the framework of the university training courses are defined. Research results. Using the example of teaching the German language at a technical university, the functional strategies have been studied when planning and conducting distance and classroom classes. Conclusion. When planning the classes it is necessary to consistently divide the individual competencies into distance and classroom lessons. Here, the starting point is a model in which students switch themselves between the distance and classroom studies in longer phases, such as weekly lessons.

This descriptive-analytic study aimed at identifying the most significant impediments to teaching English literature from the perspective of male and female instructors at The University of Hail (UoH). The study was conducted during the first semester of the academic year 2015-16. A questionnaire was used to collect data from 10 female and 12 male instructors. Data analysis revealed that the instructors consider the students’ level of language proficiency, the texts’ linguistic and stylistic degree of difficulty as well as the degree of cultural (un)familiarity to be crucial issues which impact the productivity of the teaching -learning process. Narrowing the distance between students and the text by relating the themes and characters of the literary work to the students’ personal experiences, on the one hand, and by making students read independently, on the other, were found to be the most important practices the participants followed in order to help students read, enjoy and comprehend literature.

In the last decade and a half, thin film research, particularly research into problems associated with epitaxy, has developed from a simple empirical process of determining the conditions for epitaxy into a complex analytical and experimental study of the nucleation and growth process on the one hand and a technology of very great importance on the other. During this period the thin films group of the University of Chile has studied the epitaxy of metals on metal and insulating substrates. The development of the group, one of the first research groups in physics to be established in the country, has parallelled the increasing complexity of the field. The elaborate techniques and equipment now needed for research into thin films may be illustrated by considering the plant and facilities of this group as characteristic of a good system for the controlled deposition and study of thin films.

Cecil Cameron Ewing (1925-2006) was a lecturer and head of ophthalmology at the University of Saskatchewan. Throughout his Canadian career, he was an active researcher who published several articles on retinoschisis and was the editor of the Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology. For his contributions to Canadian ophthalmology, the Canadian Ophthalmological Society awarded Ewing a silver medal. Throughout his celebrated medical career, Ewing maintained his passion for music. His love for music led him to be an active member in choir, orchestra, opera and chamber music in which he sang and played the piano, violin and viola. He was also the director of the American Liszt Society and a member for over 40 years. The connection between music and ophthalmology exists as early as the 18th Century. John Taylor (1703-1772) was an English surgeon who specialized in eye diseases. On the one hand, Taylor was a scientist who contributed to ophthalmology by publishing books on ocular physiology and diseases, and by advancing theories of strabismus. On the other hand, Taylor was a charlatan who traveled throughout Europe and blinded many patients with his surgeries. Taylor’s connection to music was through his surgeries on two of the most famous Baroque composers: Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) and George Frederick Handel (1685-1759). Bach had a painful eye disorder and after two surgeries by Taylor, Bach was blind. Handel had poor or absent vision prior to Taylor’s surgery, and his vision did not improve after surgery. The connection between ophthalmology and music spans over three centuries from the surgeries of Taylor to the musical passion of Ewing. Ewing E. Cecil Cameron Ewing. BMJ 2006; 332(7552):1278.
