The purpose of this paper is to analyze the evidence concerning different activities of aristocracy and if possible to define its role in the economic life during a very specific period in the history of archaic Mytilene, i.e. stasis. Alkaios poetry provides valuable information on the problem in question. Alkaios is one of the main witnesses and participants in the described events. Besides that, lyrics of Sappho, Alkaios contemporary, is used, her poems provide concrete examples which complete Alkaios evidence. The results of archaeological investigations corroborate the data of the written sources and shed light on those spheres of aristocracy activities that have not got evident representation in the authentic sources. We are talking about agriculture and the role of aristocracy in this economic sector and moreover about the land as a main source of material well-being of aristocracy. After all the land issue was always in the focus of poleis policy in time of peace as well as during turbulent political strife. Analyzed information from the set of available sources testifies to a very complicated role played by Mytilenian aristocracy in the economic life of Mytilene during stasis that is difficult to evaluate unambiguously. An important evaluation criterion of the role is possession of civil rights of which the losing party may be deprived during stasis while having to flee into exile. In the first case the role may be positive and in the second one negative.

The article covers the features of the socio-political and economic life of the state and the role of King Abdullah II in the development of the Hashemite Kingdom. The history of Jordan is full of important events, many of which remain significant to this day. One of the main issues for Jordan and its head, King Abdullah II, has been and still remains the Palestinian problem. Considering that the majority of the Jordanian population is Palestinians, represented by both the indigenous inhabitants of the Kingdom and political refugees who have moved to the territory of the Hashemite state as a result of the Palestinian-Israeli wars and conflicts. Currently, the Kingdom is facing quite challenging realities and consequences of international terrorism and extremism, as well as the growth of ideas of radical Islamism within the state. The author’s research goal is not just to present the biography of the king, but through his biography to highlight the history and trends of the modern development of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The political portrait of the king helps to analyze more accurately the multifaceted life of Jordan and present events. A special part of the history of Jordan is the bilateral relationship between the Hashemite Kingdom and the Russian Federation. Regular meetings of King Abdullah II and President V.V. The article also describes the role of the personality of King Abdullah II, his desire to balance the internal political situation of Jordan, as well as his actions regarding international security and the peaceful existence of peoples and religions.

The article analyzes the research of the role of cooperation in the scientific heritage of Ukrainian diaspora’s economists, whose efforts in the late XIX – early XXI centuries created many professional works on the history of the cooperative movement. The review of the works of Ukrainian diaspora economists by the author is carried out on the basis of a civilizational paradigm and the systemic approach. The selected methodological basis allowed to consider a number of scientific works as such that reveal cooperation on the territory of Ukraine as a systemic phenomenon, whose functioning was influenced by other subsystems of society (political, social, spiritual and cultural ones). It is emphasized that the scientists of the Ukrainian diaspora presented a holistic picture of the organizational formation and functioning of Ukrainian cooperation, and analysis is made of its specific and regional features. It is noted that immigrant economists played an important role in the recovery of cooperation, first of all, in the agricultural sector, seeing in this organizational form a possible way to create large agricultural enterprises provided the small-scale peasant ownership is maintained. It is noted that the representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora paid considerable attention to the deepening of theoretical study on the problems of cooperation. It is concluded that the role of cooperation in the research of scientists of the Ukrainian diaspora was reflected in the following factors: first, cooperation was a factor of economic selforganization of Ukrainians; second, it helped to improve the lives of its participants; thirdly, cooperation caused a rise of general and economic education; and fourth, the cooperative movement positively influenced the growth of national consciousness and selfidentification of Ukrainians. It is emphasized that it is important to pay attention to the each individual scientist own attitude to the role of cooperation in the economic life of Ukrainian society and their author's ideas regarding the construction of an integral national economic system. The author sees prospects for further research in this direction in expanding the field of research on the role of cooperation in the scientific heritage of the Ukrainian diaspora, namely, in the study of its importance for the formation of the ideas of Ukrainian economic nationalism.

One of the fundamental ideational changes brought by modernity into Indian intellectual culture was the transformation in the idea of the state. From an institution that was traditionally seen as a necessarily limited and distinctly unpleasant part of the basic furniture of any society, the idea of the state has been transformed into that of a central moral force, producing an immense enchantment in India’s intellectual life. Indeed, in the Indian context, as distinct from the European one, it has been the primary source of modernity. This paper seeks to present an absurdly short history of the curious adventures of this idea. It also seeks to explain why, despite the global dominance of ideas of liberalisation, and a reduction of the state’s interference in social and economic life, in India this enchantment is still undiminished.

AbstractIntuitions guide decision-making, and looking to the evolutionary history of humans illuminates why some behavioral responses are more intuitive than others. Yet a place remains for cognitive processes to second-guess intuitive responses – that is, to be reflective – and individual differences abound in automatic, intuitive processing as well.
