The process of producing uniforms or shirts made of 100% cotton which has a pattern of weaving or printing is very much in demand, especially in Indonesia with a tropical climate which is suitable for wearing clothes made from cotton. The need for 100% cotton fabric needs both domestically and abroad made the textile companies intensely innovate because of the connection with the quality of the cotton fabric to meet market standards and in accordance with consumer desires. There are several factors that usually affect the quality of a fabric, including dimensional stability, tensile strength and tensile strength. Anti-creasing enhancements are a form of resin refinement application intended to improve the wrinkle-resistant properties of cellulose fabrics. The purpose of this study was to determine the optimum conditions that can be achieved from the addition of anti-tangle resin substances (Acrylics NZK) to the physical properties of the fabric. The resin used was an anti-creasing resin with the trade name Ackfik NZK (Dihydroxy Ethylene Urea) using a temperature of low heating (Curing 130 C) and a concentration variation of 80, 90. 100,110 g / l. The results showed the optimum conditions achieved in this experiment were the concentration of anti-creasing agent 100g / l with a heating temperature of 130 C obtained a formaldehyde-free content of 55.80 ppm, dimensional stability of 3.2% wariness of 2.4% warp and towards the feed , tear strength of 0.640 kg of cloth towards the warp of 0.625 kg in the direction of feed, Pull strength of fabric 24.43 kg in the direction of warp 11.86 kg in the direction of feed.

The effective utilization of lignin waste has been a main concern in the bio-ethanol industry which uses straw and stalks as feedstock. In this study the lignin waste was incorporated into high density polyethylene (HDPE) to make composites by extruded pellet fabrication and thermoform process. With the increasing of the lignin content from 55% to 75%, the static flexural strength of the resulting blends was hardly influenced, but the tensile strength decreased 42%. The mechanical and dimensional stability tests both showed that the addition of 4% MAPE promoted the interfacial bonding between lignin and HDPE. The DSC analysis showed the presence of lignin scarcely influences the thermal behavior of pure HDPE and the composites.

The silica sol was applied onto 1, 2, 3, 4-butanetetracarboxylic acid (BTCA) finished cotton fabrics with the attempt to improve the physical properties especially the tensile strength which had a big loss in the previous anti-crease finishing processing. The parameters including the dosage of the coupling agent, the concentration and pH of the sol and the processing methods were studied in detail. Compared to the sample finished with BTCA, 11.8% of the increase in the crease recovery angle and 18.6% of the enhancement in the tensile strength of the cotton fabric also treated with silica sol in the better selected conditions were obtained. The abrasion resistance was also improved.

The centre of bamboo crafts in Gunung Sari District is the largest bamboo centre in West Lombok Regency. One of the bamboo species which is usually used as raw materials is tali bamboo. Studies of physical properties of this bamboo have not been carried out resulting poor quality of bamboo crafts. The physical property was essensial information which would be used for enhancing the products because it correlated with dimensional stability of the bamboo. The objectives of this study were to identify the physical properties of the bamboo with reference to the axial direction. The experiment design was complete random design employing the axial directions (bottom, middle, and top portions) as treatments. The statistical analyses were Anova with range tests at α = 5%. The results showed that the physical properties were: fresh moisture content 51-119.82%; air-dried moisture content 13.03-15.04%; fresh volume density 0.51 – 0.72; air-dried volume density 0.62 – 0.75; oven volume density 0.63 – 0.78. Axial directions of the physical properties were not significantly different except for the fresh moisture content. Therefore all portions of tali bamboo (bottom, middle, and top portions) could be utilized as raw materials for bamboo crafts.

Many mass-transfer applications have used chitosan membrane in separation processes. This research applied crosslinked chitosan membrane to sterillize bacterial growth media. Chitosan membranes having 79 % DD were produced by casting and drying chitosan solution. The images of the membrane were characterized by SEM and other characterizations such as permeability, permselectivity and tensile strength were investigated. The flux increased with longer submersion period but the rejection decreased. Otherwise, the flux decreased and rejection increased in line with an increase in curing temperature. Tensile strength increased with the increase of submersion period and curing temperature. The optimum conditions of crosslinking process are 2 hours of submersion periods and curing temperature at 90 oC.  It gives flux 5.8930 L/jam.m2, rejection 97.47 % and tensile strength 49640 kN/m2

Soybean (Glycine max (L) Merr) is needed as an alternative diversification in order to increase protein consumption. Soybean can be processed into variety of foods and drinks. The most popular drink from soybean is soya milk which is made from soybean extract yielded from the addition of water. The amount of water added determine the quality of soya milk due to its effect on the chemical and physical properties of soya milk. This research was intended to find out the proper ratio of soybean and water in the processing of soya milk to yield the best quality. A completely randomized design was used with eight treatments of soybean and water ratio as follows, ratio of 1 : 6, ratio of 1 : 8, ratio of 1 : 10, ratio of 1 : 12, ratio of 1 : 14, ratio of 1 : 16, ratio of 1 : 18 and ratio of 1 : 20. Result showed the soybean and water ratio 1 : 10 in the processing of soya milk yielded milk having good quality according to its chemical with protein content of 2.53%, fat of 1.20%, sugar total of 1.60%, pH of 7.1, and organoleptic characteristies of both somewhat sweet taste and viscous texture.
