The growth of cooperatives in Indonesia today is very fast, especially the growth of cooperatives in Bali. Based on data from the Department of Cooperatives, Micro, Small and Medium Bali Province the number of cooperatives in bali per June 30, 2016 as many as 4934, this is certainly a positive picture for the growth of cooperatives. The development of micro-credit activities undertaken cooperative is also growing very rapidly, but this is not matched by the quality of the performance of the cooperative itself. These conditions encourage the government oversight of credit unions and savings and loans by issuing a decision on guidelines for the rating of the cooperative based on Regulation Supervision Deputy Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises of the Republic of Indonesia Number 01 / Per / Dep.6 / IV / 2016. The process of calculating the cooperative health assessment has now been made but there is still a conventional manner using Microsoft Excel so that experienced problems in the calculation and delivery of information on the results. Supervision of the cooperative in question is difficult because the delay of information and the lack of technology used. Computerized system and geographic information system support can be used to assist in the process of assessment of the level of health and also facilitate cooperative Cooperative Agency in monitoring the cooperative in question.

PurposeDespite the fact that small and medium enterprises (SMEs) play a crucial role in strengthening the financial sector within developing and emerging economies through providing employment opportunities to the rural and urban population, capacity building in the form of skills training and economic empowerment, they still face a plethora of challenges that continue to threaten their existence, performance and growth. Access to operational and administrative funds needed to execute their activities effectively is a significant challenge and detrimental to the growth of SMEs in Uganda. Conversely, Islamic microfinance has been noted as a panacea to the challenges of financial inaccessibility among SMEs, especially in developing countries. The purpose of this paper is therefore to investigate how the adoption of Islamic microfinance can play a fundamental role in enhancing the sustainability of microfinance institutions (MFIs) while meeting the financing challenges of SMEs in Uganda.Design/methodology/approachIn this study, a review of existing literature was carried out to critically examine relevant information (literature sources) and empirical studies on SMEs, their performance and challenges. The study being conceptual tries to understand how Islamic microfinance could be adopted as an alternative scheme of financing to bridge the gap and mitigate the financial challenges facing SMEs.FindingsThe study finds that the existing MFIs have failed to achieve their objectives of providing financial services to the poor and SMEs while remaining sustainable. This has left the majority of SMEs within Uganda's informal sector financially handicapped, thus leading to their failure in meeting their expectations and eventually collapsing even before celebrating their third or fourth birthdays. However, the enactment into law of the Financial Institutions Amendment Act 2016 that paved the way for the introduction of Islamic finance in Uganda, and the Tier 4 Microfinance Institutions and Money Lenders' Act, 2016 that incorporated the aspects of Islamic microfinance within the existing microfinance framework as seen and is perceived as a key factor in addressing the financial challenges faced by MFIs and the SMEs if fully adopted.Research limitations/implicationsThis study is conceptual with no empirical investigation and discussion of key theories. On the contrary, it will be imperative and useful when carrying out more extensive hypothetical studies by future researchers, specifically in the area of Islamic microfinance that is relatively new in Uganda.Practical implicationsPractically, this paper will serve as a guide to policymakers and practitioners in the field of microfinance by adding a flair that could enable in bridging the challenges associated with inadequate financing of SMEs in Uganda.Social implicationsSocially, the social aspects of charity (Zakah and Sadaqah) will help to improve the livelihood of the poorest of the poor who cannot engage in active business through meeting their basic needs of life without begging thereby preventing them from being social outcasts.Originality/valueThe study establishes Islamic microfinance (IMF) as a promising and unexplored viable option potentially needed in intensifying the financing needs of SMEs in Uganda. The paper provides an entirely new dimension in nature and way microfinance products should be structured with a view of ensuring that there is sustainable provision of financial services to SMEs. The paper adds real value to the existing conventional microfinance products and services in Uganda, given the ethical and moral attributes of Islamic microfinancing practices that are assumed to efficiently and effectively motivate SME owners and other small entrepreneurs to thrive.

The objective of this paper is to enable a bank’s view towards a credit obligor. Banks are subject to a lot of financial risks. Credit risk is the most important one. Banks also have to manage the objective of maximum profit on one hand, the prudential rules on the other hand. Recently, the Bank for International Settlements submitted a new concept of prudential rules (The New Basel Capital Accord) that should be accepted by national regulators and applied from 2006/7. This concept brings relatively strict conditions which should improve bank management of credit risk but which are unpleasant for loaning of small and medium enterprises including agricultural ones that are mostly part of this category. Very important role will be still played by non-market supporting instruments, especially guarantees provided by sovereigns. They can improve the competitiveness of agricultural enterprises in the credit market.

The Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are important for every nation’s economic development. They provide employment and spur the growth of multiple sectors in the economy.  The Covid-19 pandemic has negatively affected MSMEs' performance. The study seeks to demonstrate why COVID 19 may lead to the terminal quarantining of MSMEs. The study is anchored on decision usefulness and information asymmetry theories. The study adopted a descriptive research methodology and sampled MSMEs within Nairobi City County. The study used SPSS to analyze data in addition to Microsoft excel. The study found that over 70% of MSMEs had their sales decline by over 65% while 95% of them had their sales decline by over 30%. The study found that about 68% of MSMEs lacked financial management skills. The study recommends that with legal and institutional reforms, the government needs to develop a financing framework for MSMEs.

This research aims to determine the development of Industrial Revolution 4.0 technology in the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sector, to improve the standard of quality business product brands by creating a web-based information system. To support this research, we used qualitative descriptive research methods to describe existing phenomena, both natural and human engineering, that pay more attention to the characteristics, quality, and interrelationships between activities. The results show that product brand development for web-based small and medium enterprises is compelling so that it will be able to compete with other business product brands globally. This is due to a web-based information system created to introduce various products, the owners of MSMEs products. The information system was designed to input the MSME owners' data, starting from product brands, catalogs, and services. Therefore, the information system can help marketing and improve the owners' ability in the product brand development that can be used to compete in the global market. That way, the society can access various information about superior products from the MSME owners who have a product quality is no less good than other excellent products.

We can evaluate the bank health from financial  ratios in its financial  statements.  The fi nancial ratios are known as ('AMEL (capital adequacy, asset quality, management, earning, liquidity). The government changes the regulation of evaluation of bank health. The new regulation we use now is SE HI No. 30 23: UPPB, 19 March 1998 and the old one is SE Bl No. 30   2   UPPB. 30 April 1997.The research issue is whether /here any significant changes in bank performance if we use the new reKulation than the old one. The chanRes consist of three financial ratios there are two ratios <?f'asset quality and one liquidity ratio. The measurement calculates the credit values from .financial ratios according to the old regulation and the new one and then comparing the results. The results show that there are any signlficant changes in bank performance using the new regulation. The results also show that using the new regulation to measure the bank health makes more difficultj(Jr the bank to get the predicate as a good bank.
