This paper studied the thermal behaviour of pineapple leaf fiber (PALF) reinforced with polypropylene (PP) and polylactic acid (PLA) composite, used for natural fiber honeycomb core. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetric (DSC) analysis were used to measure the thermal characteristic of PALF-PP/PLA composites. In particular, the TGA analysis was utilized to measure the degradation and decomposition of materials in different composition (NF-PP/PLA (0%, 15%, 30% and 50%). The measurements were carried out in the temperature of 0oC- 900oC, at a heating rate of 10oCmin-1 and under an inert atmosphere (nitrogen gas). The temperature of DSC analysis was programmed to between 25oC- 500oC. The result shows the thermal stability of PALF-PP/PLA decreased as the PALF filler-loading increased. While from the DSC analysis this study clearly shows in the graph plot, the sample have glass transition temperature, crystallization and melting temperature. So that means the sample in this study is crystalline and amorphous domains.

In this research, rice husk and kenaf fiber were compounded with calcium carbonate (CaCO3)/high density polyethylene (HDPE) composite.Different loadings of up to 30 parts of 50 mesh sizes of rice husk particulate and kenaf fiber were compounded using twin-screw extruder with fixed 30 parts of CaCO3 fillerto produce hybrid composites of rice husk/CaCO3/HDPE and kenaf/CaCO3/HDPE.Compounded hybrid composites were prepared and tested for thermal properties. The thermal stability of the components was examined by thermogravimetricanalysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetric (DSC). The DSC results showed a slightly changes in melting temperature (Tm), crystallization temperature (Tc) and the degree of crystallinity (Xc) with addition of natural fiber. TGA indicates thermal stability of hybrid composite filled with kenaf or rice husk is better than unfilledCaCO3/HDPE composite.

Natural fiber reinforced composites are being used as reinforcement material in composite system due to their positive environmental benefits. Added to that, natural fibers offer advantages such as low density, low cost, good toughness, high specific strength, relatively non-abrasive and wide availability. However, the low thermal stability of natural fibers is one of the major challenges to increase their use as reinforcing component. In this study, a thorough investigation has been done to compare the effect of two chemical treatment methods on the thermal stability of hemp fibers. 5wt% sodium hydroxide and 5wt% triethoxyvinylsilane was used for the treatment of hemp fibers. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and thermo gravimetric analysis were used for characterization of untreated and treated fiber. The results indicated that 24 hours alkali treatment and 3 hours silane treatment time enhanced the thermal stability of the hemp fiber. However, alkali treatment shows better improvement compared to silane treatment.

Palm kernel shells (PKS) filled recycled high density polyethylene (rHDPE) biocomposites were produced using melt mixing. The biocomposites were prepared on Brabender Plasticorder at temperature of 185 °C and rotor speed of 50 rpm by varying filler loading (0 to 40 phr). In this study, the effect of PKS loading on rheological properties and thermal stability of rHDPE/PKS were investigated. Rheological study of the biocomposites was carried out by means of capillary rheometer under temperature of 190 °C, 200 °C and 210 °C. Thermal properties of biocomposites were studied by using thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA). The rheological results showed that the flowability of the composite increased with increasing temperature. Meanwhile, the result of TGA showed that at higher PKS loading, rHDPE/PKS biocomposites had lower total weight loss. The thermal stability of the biocomposites was reduced due to the addition of filler loading.

Several kinds of rubbers used for fabric expansion joints were studied by Thermogravimetric analysis under inert atmosphere before and after artificial accelerated thermal aging. The results showed that because of the difference of the chemical structures, the rubber aging is different. And the thermal stability of Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) was obviously higher than that of other two kinds of rubbers, ethylene-propylene-diene-terpolymer rubber (EPDM) and fluororubber.

Polyaniline(PANI) nanofibers were firstly prepared by rapid mixture method, EP/PANI nanocomposite was obtained by in-situ adding the PANI nanofibers to epoxy resin(EP). Scanning electron microscopy(SEM) proves that the type of doped acids has a little effect on the morphologies of PANI, and the PANI doped by different acids present nanofiber structures with the diameter of about 50 nm. The thermal behaviour of EP/PANI nanocomposites were investigated in detail by using a dynamic rate mode of thermogravimetric analyser (TGA) in inert atmosphere, and the results show that the PANI nanofibers obviously improve thermal stability of pure EP. Compared with EP/PANI doped by nitric acid or sulfuric acid, EP/PANI doped by phosphoric acid has best thermal stability.
