Objective: False-positive nodule reduction is a crucial part of a computer-aided detection (CADe) system, which assists radiologists in accurate lung nodule detection. In this research, a novel scheme using multi-level 3D DenseNet framework is proposed to implement false-positive nodule reduction task. Methods: Multi-level 3D DenseNet models were extended to differentiate lung nodules from falsepositive nodules. First, different models were fed with 3D cubes with different sizes for encoding multi-level contextual information to meet the challenges of the large variations of lung nodules. In addition, image rotation and flipping were utilized to upsample positive samples which consisted of a positive sample set. Furthermore, the 3D DenseNets were designed to keep low-level information of nodules, as densely connected structures in DenseNet can reuse features of lung nodules and then boost feature propagation. Finally, the optimal weighted linear combination of all model scores obtained the best classification result in this research. Results: The proposed method was evaluated with LUNA16 dataset which contained 888 thin-slice CT scans. The performance was validated via 10-fold cross-validation. Both the Free-response Receiver Operating Characteristic (FROC) curve and the Competition Performance Metric (CPM) score show that the proposed scheme can achieve a satisfactory detection performance in the falsepositive reduction track of the LUNA16 challenge. Conclusion: The result shows that the proposed scheme can be significant for false-positive nodule reduction task.

China entered a new era, and the construction of an ecological civilization and green development has been raised to a new strategic height. As the lifeblood of the national economy, industrial parks significantly contribute to economic growth. However, they also generate significant pollution, damaging the ecological environment. It is urgent to ecologically transform traditional industrial parks. This requires identifying methods to correctly and objectively evaluate the ecological level of industrial parks, and provide ecological construction proposals for the government and industrial parks. In this study, the comprehensive evaluation weight was determined by introducing a variation coefficient and an Attribute Hierarchy Model (AHM). The ecological level of four representative eco-industrial parks was then quantitatively evaluated using a grey multi-level evaluation method. The ecological construction level of the four industrial parks was as follows. The Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area (TEDA) was rated at a “very good” level; and the Suzhou industrial park, Dalian economic and technological development zone, and Fushun mining group were rated at a “good” level. Six dimensions were studied. Of these, policy management had the highest weight, and the total weight of policy management and economic development approached 50%. The result shows that industrial parks can attract innovative enterprises and talents through the policy guidance of local government to improve the level of green innovation technology and cleaner production technology. Then, the ecological level of the industrial parks will be improved. This study enriched the theory and practice of ecological evaluation of industrial parks and provided a reference for the ecological construction of traditional industrial parks.

Background: There is evidence that the concentrations of clotting and anticoagulant factors in children depend on age and differ from those found in adults. The results of APPT, TT, PT, fibrinogen are similar in children and adults in some studies, while PT and APTT show differences in others. Recent studies on global hemostatic assays Thromboelastography (TEG) revealed no significant differences in test results between healthy children and adults, while the thrombin generation test (TGT) showed significant differences. The Thrombodynamics (TD) assay is a new global hemostasis assay that considers the spatial organization of coagulation. Methods: APTT, TT, PR, fibrinogen and TD assays were performed in 102 healthy children between the ages of 1 and 17 years who underwent annual medical examinations and in 91 healthy adult volunteers. The following TD assay parameters were determined: lag time (Tlag), initial clot growth velocity (Vi), stationary clot growth velocity (Vs), clot size 30 minutes after the start of clot growth (CS) and clot Density (D). Written consent was obtained from all participants or their parents after they received complete information about the tests. Results: Age-specific reference values for the TD assay in healthy children aged 1-17 years are presented. No significant differences were observed between different age groups of children (15 years, 6-10 years, and 11-17 years) or between all children (1-17 years) and adults. Significant differences were not observed between genders. Conclusions: The TD assay results revealed no age-specific differences in the parameters between children aged 1-17 years and adults.

Abstract Summary MetaADEDB is an online database we developed to integrate comprehensive information on adverse drug events (ADEs). The first version of MetaADEDB was released in 2013 and has been widely used by researchers. However, it has not been updated for more than seven years. Here, we reported its second version by collecting more and newer data from the U.S. FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) and Canada Vigilance Adverse Reaction Online Database, in addition to the original three sources. The new version consists of 744 709 drug–ADE associations between 8498 drugs and 13 193 ADEs, which has an over 40% increase in drug–ADE associations compared to the previous version. Meanwhile, we developed a new and user-friendly web interface for data search and analysis. We hope that MetaADEDB 2.0 could provide a useful tool for drug safety assessment and related studies in drug discovery and development. Availability and implementation The database is freely available at: http://lmmd.ecust.edu.cn/metaadedb/. Supplementary information Supplementary data are available at Bioinformatics online.

The availability of new mobile devices (tablets and smartphones) equipped with many sensors is changing or, better, enriching the way we monitor and sense the world that surrounds us. The internet has permeated completely not only our scientific and technological development, but also our life. Only some years ago, we used geospatial data and GIS software installed within our computers. Nowadays, data and operators are provided via the net by means of distributed and shared geo-services and a simple and powerless mobile device is enough to connect them. The possibility of interaction has become not only faster and more user friendly but also active, being individuals and communities free of adding, deleting, and changing contents in real time in the new GeoWeb2.0. This chapter explores GeoWeb2.0.

Abstract Background: Automatic vessel structure segmentation is an essential step towards an automatic disease diagnosis system. The task is challenging due to the variance shapes and sizes of vessels across populations. Methods: A multiscale network with dual attention is proposed to segment vessels in different sizes. The network injects spatial attention module and channel attention module on feature map which size is 1 8 of the input size. The network also uses multiscale input to receive multi-level information, and the network uses the multiscale output to gain more supervision. Results: The proposed method is tested on two publicly available datasets: DRIVE and CHASEDB1. The accuracy, AUC, sensitivity, specificity on DRIVE dataset is 0.9615, 0.9866, 0.7693, and 0.9851, respectively. On the CHASEDB1 dataset, the metrics are 0.9797, 0.9895, 0.8432, and 0.9863 respectively. The ablative study further shows effectiveness for each part of the network. Conclusions: Multiscale and dual attention mechanism both improves the performance. The proposed architecture is simple and effective. The inference time is 12ms on a GPU and has potential for real-world applications. The code will be made publicly available.

<p>The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) maintains the “Gravity Information Service” (GravIS, gravis.gfz-potsdam.de) portal in collaboration with the Alfred-Wegener-Institute (AWI) and Technische Universität Dresden. Main objective of this portal is the dissemination of data describing mass variations in the Earth system based on observations of the satellite gravimetry missions GRACE and GRACE-FO.</p><p>The provided data sets encompass products of terrestrial water storage (TWS) variations over the continents, ocean bottom pressure (OBP) variations from which global mean barystatic sea-level rise can be estimated, and mass changes of the ice sheets in Greenland and Antarctica. All data sets are provided as time series of regular grids for each area, as well as in the form of regional basin averages. Regarding the latter, for the continental TWS data the user can choose between classical river basins and a novel segmentation based on climatic regions. For the oceans, the segmentation into different regions is derived similarly but based on modelled OBP data. All time series are accompanied by realistic uncertainty estimates.</p><p>All data sets can be interactively displayed at the portal and are freely available for download. This contribution aims to show the features and possibilities of the GravIS portal to researchers without a dedicated geodetic background, working in the fields of hydrology, oceanography, and cryosphere.</p>

Abstract The aim of this paper is to present the Euskara Bariazioan/Basque in Variation (BiV) database, a project launched by the Basque and Beyond (Bas&Be) research group. This open-access online database, available in both Basque and English versions, is intended to facilitate research on Basque morphosyntactic features that show cross-dialectal variation. Based on data obtained from questionnaires, the BiV provides the user with a description of each feature together with illustrative examples, and accompanies each entry with a map graphically depicting the distribution of variation. The resulting fine-grained picture of the distribution of morphosyntactic phenomena across Basque varieties has the ultimate goal of improving our understanding of the systematicities and connections that underlie variation. Thanks to its user-friendly format, the database can be used easily by anyone who is interested in Basque morphosyntax in particular and cross-linguistic variation in general. The results obtained thus far show that while some features have the same distribution across Basque varieties as that previously reported, others are spreading and thus have a wider geographical presence than has been described in the literature.
