Purpose – the purpose of the article is to simulate the current version of a university’s brand using the Customer-Based Brand Equity (CBBE) model. Research methodology – the methodology of the paper includes analysis of theoretical sources and prior research on branding in higher education. For collecting primary data, a questionnaire based on the multi-dimensional CBBE model was used; a survey was conducted in Transport and Telecommunication Institute (Latvia). Structural equation modelling was then applied for confirmatory factor analysis of relationships between brand equity-related factors. Findings – Statistical analysis of the conducted survey’s data disclosed the importance of different brand dimensions within the CBBE model: Performance, Imagery, Judgments, Feelings, and Resonance. There is a notable difference between the perception of brand equity and associated factors by local and foreign students; it was discovered that local students have more concerns about the Imagery of the university brand, while foreign students are more focused on the Resonance factor. Research limitations – the research was conducted within one higher education institution. Further study with a broader research base that confirms the applicability of the Keller’s model in different settings would be beneficial. Practical implications – as brand equity affects the choice of a marketing strategy adopted by a university, the information obtained through simulation of the current version of the corresponding brand is vital for developing and updating an efficient strategy aimed at accomplishing a competitive advantage in both local and international settings. Originality/Value – the current brand’s version has been successfully stimulated in higher education settings, applying the CBBE model as a scalable framework – to demonstrate how different factors related to brand equity are perceived by the university’s students.

Developing countries face various challenges in implementing bio-risk management systems in the laboratory. In addition, educational settings are considered as workplaces with biohazard risks. Every activity in a laboratory facility carries many potential hazards that can impact human health and the environment and may cause laboratory incidents, including Laboratory Acquired Infections (LAIs). In an effort to minimize the impact and occurrence of these incidents, it is necessary to evaluate the implementation of a bio-risk management system in every activity that involves handling biological agents. This study was conducted in an Indonesian higher-education institution, herein coded as University Y. This is a descriptive, semi-quantitative study aimed at analysing and evaluating the implementation of the bio-risk management systems used in laboratories by analysing the achievements obtained by each laboratory. The study used primary data that were collected using a checklist which referred to ISO 35001: 2019 on Laboratory Bio-risk Management. The checklist consisted of 202 items forming seven main elements. In addition, secondary data obtained from literature and document review were also used. The results show that out of 11 laboratories examined, only 2 laboratories met 50% of the requirements, which were Laboratory A and B, achieving good performance. Regarding the clauses of standards, a gap analysis identified leadership, performance evaluation, and support as elements with the lowest achievement. Therefore, corrective action should be developed by enhancing the commitment from management as well as improving documentation, policy, education and training.

Digital marketing is a marketing process that utilizes online channels (internet) to introduce, educate, branding and also establish communication with customers and the form of online channels can be in the form of websites or applications on mobile phones. The formulation of the problem in this study are: (1) Does Digital Marketing affect the formation of Brand Image at PT Pegadaian (Persero) Labuhan Deli Sub-Branch, Medan; (2) Does Digital Marketing affect the establishment of Brand Equity at PT Pegadaian (Persero) Sub Branch Labuhan Deli, Medan; (3) Does brand equity affect the formation of brand image in PT Pegadaian (Persero) Sub Branch Labuhan Deli, Medan; (4) Does Digital Marketing affect the formation of Brand Image through Brand Equity at PT Pegadaian (Persero) Sub Branch Labuhan Deli, Medan. The type of research used in this study is a descriptive method with a correlational type using a quantitative approach, using two types of data collection, namely secondary data and primary data by taking a sample of 130 respondents, which is carried out by testing the validity and. reliability test, and using data analysis methods, namely descriptive analysis and Structural Equation Model - Partial Least Square. The results show that (1) Digital Marketing has a positive and significant effect on Brand Image, in the sense that Digital Marketing at PT Pegadaian (Persero) Labuhan Deli Sub-Branch has a good system so that the company's brand image can be understood and remembered by the public or customers who transact using pawn services; (2) Digital Marketing has a positive and significant effect on Brand Equity, in the sense that Digital Marketing at PT Pegadaian (Persero) Labuhan Deli Sub-Branch has a good system so that the company's brand equity can be accepted and easily remembered by the public or customers who transact using pawn services based on marketing and financial activities; (3) partially the Brand Equity variable has a positive and significant influence on Brand Image, in the sense that if customers are interested in the digital Pegadaian brand at PT Pegadaian (Persero) Labuhan Deli Sub-Branch, the brand image of the product will also increase; (4) the digital marketing variable (X) has a simultaneous effect on brand image (Y) through brand equity (Z), where the original sample value (Original Sample) is 0.244, the t-statistic value is 4.955 and the p-values is 0.000, then the brand equity variable (Z) is able to mediate the relationship of digital marketing variable (X) to brand image (Y). This paper presents the findings of a qualitative study exploring students’ perspectives on the factors boosting learner autonomy (LA) development. This study involved 393 English-majored students from a Ho Chi Minh City based higher education institution in answering open-ended questionnaires. The content analysis approach was used to analyze the qualitative data. The findings revealed that three major factors, viz. teacher-related factors, school-related factors and parental factors were believed to positively affect students’ LA emergence. However, research participants reckoned that teacher-related factors had a major role in boosting students’ LA development while school-related factors and parental factors played contributing roles in shaping students’ LA.

The article is devoted to the description and analysis of factors that potentially and actually affect the socio-economic development of the state on the example of the higher education institution. It is established that at the system level the level of ensuring the quality of educational activities and the quality of higher education has a decisive influence on the formation of a positive image of a higher education institution. The results of a survey of students on the criteria for choosing a university to study are presented. Statistics on public funding of education in general and higher education in particular are presented and analyzed. It is established that, despite the formally high percentage of education funding from the level of GDP in absolute terms, the actual funding is low and needs to be strengthened by attracting external funding from customers. Attention is also paid to the state of development of educational services for foreign students. In a competitive environment at the national and international level, the decisive influence on the involvement of foreign students in the university is influenced by the structure of the training program, teacher qualifications, organization of the educational process in the classroom and so on. The article on the example of a higher education institution presents the main stages of formation and development of the internal system of quality assurance of education as an object of influence on the socio-economic development of the state. The development and/or improvement of internal quality assurance systems in universities is becoming a powerful basis for increasing university funding from external (personally involved) sources, reducing the outflow of applicants abroad and the successful provision of educational services to foreign students. At this stage, given the limited opportunities for funding of educational activities by the state (compared to EU countries), the successful implementation of the university development strategy is possible provided that systematic work is done to improve the quality of educational services for domestic and foreign citizens. As part of further research, it is planned to analyze the mutual impact of the education quality assurance system on the effectiveness of scientific activities, the provision of additional paid educational services, training for external customers and other sources.

The authors attempted to investigate how to resolve the growing work-life balance issue occurring due to COVID-19 Pandemic in the higher education sector. On the premise of prominent literature, the study conceptualized a framework to test if supervisor support and employee`s proactive work behavior could help address the work-life balance issue. Through applying the quantitative approach, the study collected data from employees working in a higher education institution in the UK. Results of the structural equation modeling found significant association and influence of supervisor support and work-life balance. The study also found a strong affiliation between proactive work behavior and work-life balance. However, proactive work behavior did not moderate supervisor support and work-life balance relationship. The study concluded that both supervisor support and proactive work behavior could be vital in helping employees to achieve their work goals effectively and efficiently without compromising their work-life balance. The study forwards prominent implications to guide practitioners, policymakers and researchers in this domain.

Entrepreneurship ecosystem development is new concept to support entrepreneurship education in higher education institution. The objective of this research is to analyze the relevance between entrepreneurship education and university environment to encoura ge student entrepreneurial intention in higher education institution. Higher education institution is university or higher institution in West Java, Indonesia, that have business faculty or entrepreneurship subject in their study of program, also supportin g by conducive environment that liven up entrepreneurial activity. The population of the research are students in University/Institution in surrounding West Java Area that already learned entrepreneurship subject and operated business simulation in real wo rld. Quantitative method by survey is used for this research. Data collection is using questionnaire with likert scale 1 - 7. Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) is use to analyze data to justify the significancy of the model. The novelty of this research is to see the relationship between entrepreneurial education and campus environment toward student entrepreneurial motivation and intention as one holistic system that influence each other. Also, the results of this research can be used to development repreneurial higher education institution ecosystem model in Indonesia

Purpose Research and development pursuits have always been an integral part of a teacher’s professional development. Today, the higher educational institutes (HEIs) are chiefly prioritizing and providing a sustained support toward research-based and research-oriented learning. But as revealed by the broad outlines of the entire scenario, a fall in research productivity and developmental attempts is witnessed among the faculties of higher educational establishments. To put it succinctly, the motivating aspects that reinforce such activities are not adequately taken care of and have thwarted their progression. The purpose of this paper is to delve deep and explore the factors that inspire teachers toward an enriched research and learning, which equally gets reflected in their teaching practices. Design/methodology/approach This is a descriptive research with a cross-sectional survey on faculties from different HEIs of West Bengal. A questionnaire has been designed with a five-point Likert scale to draw the primary data. Convenience sampling technique has been utilized. Exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis have been performed with structural equation modeling on the hypothesized research model through AMOS. Findings The major findings of the research have revealed that improved research and development activities of faculties had an immense impact on their teaching quality. The level and accessibility of infrastructure posits a strong influence in augmenting a teacher’s research and developmental endeavors. Working climate influences teachers’ research activities as well their teaching adroitness. Research limitations/implications Results may vary when an extensive study is conducted on teachers of HEIs of two or more states or of the country as a whole. Suppression of the real underlying facts by few respondents may affect the result to a small extent. Practical implications When faculties orient themselves toward research intensive learning and teaching, the students actively get involved in a platform of greater interaction. It elevates their persistence level, intellectual curiosity, critical thinking and cognitive skills. Research-based teaching is also instrumental in honing their analytical skills, promoting creativity. Originality/value The study identified a vital role of the higher education institutes in motivating the faculties toward research-based teaching. There is a dearth of empirical research in identifying the factors that enrich the learning patterns and research activities of the teachers. Thus, it can prove to be a constructive study if implemented.

PurposeThe growing competitive environment in which higher education institutes are immersed has caused them to strengthen their competitive position of a brand and its equity in emerging countries. However, there are several contradictions between the empirically approved determinants and the dimensions of brand equity in higher education. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the structural relationship between subjective norms, electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM), perceived brand credibility and brand equity, taking cross-culturally comparisons between Sri Lanka, and Vietnam.Design/methodology/approachA survey was used to collect data from a sample of 800 undergraduates of private higher education institutions in Sri Lanka and Vietnam in 2019. These data were gathered using purposive sampling and analyzed using a structural equation model. A total of 768 questionnaires were considered valid. In testing the hypothesis and structure among the variables, structural equation modelling was used to determine the relationship between subjective norms, eWOM, perceived brand credibility and brand equity for the higher education institutes in emerging countries.FindingsFor the conceptual framework, the author found that this structural equation model complies with the empirical data. The structural equation model shows that subjective norms, eWOM and perceived brand credibility were significantly related to brand equity. Perceived brand credibility was found to be the mediating variable. Further, the location was found to moderate the relationship between perceived brand credibility and brand equity, highlighting that Vietnamese students are more relying on perceived brand credibility in creating brand equity than their Sri Lankan counterparts.Research limitations/implicationsThe study was conducted at private higher education institutes in Sri Lanka and Vietnam. Future research could benefit from perceptions of undergraduates in public higher education institutes. This study discusses the implications of developing branding strategies for higher education institutions.Originality/valueThe current research contributes to the services marketing and branding literature in the higher education context. The paper presents the crucial elements in building brand equity for higher education institutes to fill the existing gaps in higher education branding literature. The findings of the current study provide strategies to improve the higher education sector.

An issue of university development is the increasing stratification that significantly affects a higher education institution's enrollment and benefit. The higher education institution has realized that the brand increases recognized as an essential determinant of learner choice. The study identifies the components of perceived quality in higher education and examines the model of perceived quality and reputation effect on brand equity. With qualitative and quantitative research methods, the results confirm the four-factor structure of perceived quality and reputation influence brand equity in the higher education sector. The study asserts that perceived quality is considered a reflective construct, including library services, dining service, physical facilities, and academic staff responsiveness. Some managerial implications are proposed based on the research result.
