BACKGROUND: Skin tag is a benign tumour of connective tissue in the skin, sessile or pedunculated, skin-like to brownish coloured and often arises in the flexure area. Etiopathogenesis of skin tag is still unclear, but one of the aetiology is associated with leptin hormone. AIM: To determine the correlation between leptin serum level with type and number of the lesion skin tag. METHODS: This study is an observational analytic study with a cross-sectional design involving 33 skin tag patients. Diagnosis of skin tag was based on history and clinical examination; we conducted blood sampling and measurement of serum leptin level to the patients. RESULTS: We found the mean serum leptin level of skin tag patients were highest on the type of lesion mixed (31.54 ± 12.85 ng/ml). The mean number of skin tag lesions was 13.6 ± 5.8 lesions. There is a very high positive correlation between serum leptin level with a number of skin tag (r = 0.86) with p < 0.05 and significant correlation between serum leptin level with the type of lesions (p = 0.037). CONCLUSION: Serum leptin level has a very high positive correlation to a number of skin tag and significant correlation between serum leptin level with the type of lesion.

Summary: The concept of “sense of coherence” (SOC) has been widely recognized since it was first introduced by Antonovsky. The originality and usefulness of the SOC scale and its relation to other psychosocial measures has been the subject of lively debate. The aim of this paper was to test for associations between SOC and work-related psychosocial factors (mainly the Job Demand-Control model), general living conditions, education, and social network factors. Cross-sectional data from a population-based sample of 1782 rural males from nine counties in Sweden were analyzed with a multiple regression technique. The subjects were occupationally active at inclusion and the mean age was 50 years (range 40-60). SOC was assessed with the original 29-item questionnaire. Psychosocial variables and lifestyle factors were assessed using questionnaires and structured interviews. The mean SOC among the subjects was 152.3 (standard deviation, 19.4). A strong negative correlation was found between SOC and job demand, whereas a positive correlation with job control was demonstrated. A positive correlation with general living conditions and with social support was also found. However, there was no correlation to education and occupation. Thus, SOC was shown to be strongly correlated to work-related psychosocial factors and social support, but independent of sociodemographic factors.

Background: Low public awareness of the impact of smoking makes the implementation of smoke-free areas (KTR) difficult. Smoke-free areas aim to protect the public from the direct and indirect effects of smoking. Purpose: This study aimed to analyze the correlation between the application of smoke-free areas and the prevalence of active and ex-smokers in Indonesia. Method: This study implemented a cross-sectional design, using secondary data from the Riskesdas 2018 on active and ex-smokers. KTR application data were obtained from the Profile of Non-Communicable Diseases in 2016. A Pearson product-moment test was conducted by a computer application to determine the correlation coefficient (r). This coefficient was used to describe the level of correlation between the two variables; significance was determined as a p value of 5%. Results: This study showed that the average application of KTR throughout Indonesia was 50.83%, active smokers comprised 23.49% of the population, and ex-smokers comprised 4.94%. Most active smokers were in Java and Sumatra, while the majority of ex-smokers were in Java and Sulawesi and the majority of KTR was in Java. This study shows that there is a positive correlation between KTR application and the percentage of ex-smokers (r = 0.46; p value = 0.01). Conclusion: There is a positive correlation between the application of KTR and an increase in ex-smokers. The government needs to increase the application of KTR policies.

Kata kunci: tuberkulosis, kadar serum IFN-γ, ekspresi dan fungsi reseptor IFN-γ.AbstractIn order to work effectively against M. tuberculosis, the cell mediated immune system needs serum level of IFN-γ and its receptors in the surface of mononuclear cells to function optimally. The objective of this study is to analyze the correlation of IFNγ serum level, expression and function of IFN-γ receptor, with pulmonary tuberculosis. Analytical descriptive method with cross sectional design that compared the serum level of IFN-γ, function and expression of IFN-γ receptor in pulmonary tuberculosis patients with their healthy spouses, and analyzing the correlation between these variables with pulmonary tuberculosis. Study was done from July 2009 until September 2010, in Immanuel hospital Bandung and Stem Cell & Cancer Institute Jakarta. AbstractCoronary artery calcification is a part of atherosclerosis process associated with coronary heart disease. Recently, coronary artery calcification assessment using computed tomography (CT) is still the best noninvasive imaging with high sensitivity and specificity. Osteoprotegerin (OPG) is one of vascular calcification marker that through its role to bind receptor activator of nuclear factor-κβ ligand and inhibit osteoclastogenesis is suspected of playing a role for coronary calcification in atherosclerosis process. The objective of this study was to prove a positive correlation between OPG serum level and coronary calcification using coronary artery calcium (CAC) score in patient with moderate–severe cardiovascular (CV) risk factor. This is a cross-sectional study with purposive sampling technique. Thirty-three subjects participate in this research and each subject underwent a multislice computed tomography (MSCT) examination to assess coronary calcification and their blood samples were collected for OPG measurement. This study is analyzed with Spearman's correlation test. The mean of OPG serum level in this study was 5.89 ± 2.1 pmol/L for moderate-risk Framingham risk score (FRS) and the mean of OPG serum level for high-risk FRS was 7.27 ± 3.4. There was a positive, moderate, and significant correlation between OPG serum level and coronary calcification using CAC score in patient with moderate–severe CV risk factor (r = 0.694; p < 0.001).
