BACKGROUND: Melanocortin 3 Receptors (MC3R) levels plays a role in many biological systems, including energy homeostasis and regulation of fat metabolism. However, very few have researched the relationship between MC3R and tuberculosis (TB) and body mass index. AIM: This study explores the differences in serum MC3R levels in active TB, household contacts, and control groups, as well as at different body mass index status. This study tries to find out the relationship between MC3R and other variables. METHODS AND MATERIALS: Blood samples were taken from 53 active TB patients, 49 household contacts, and 30 healthy people as controls. The 132 samples were subjected to IGRA and ELISA examinations to determine differences in MC3R levels in all groups. RESULTS: The highest mean of MC3R levels were found in the active TB group at 1.259.55 (p = 0.028) and had a positive correlation with a value of p = 0.008. In the sex group, men had the highest levels (p = 0.551). In the 30–49 year age group, the median value increased significantly in the three groups (p = 0.028), and there was a correlation between MC3R and the 17–29 year age group, although the correlation was negative (p = 0.021), in the 30–49 year age group with a positive correlation (p = 0.050). The mean MC3R value increased significantly in the overweight group in the three groups (p = 0.006) but did not significantly correlate. CONCLUSION: The high level of MC3R in TB patients is related to its role as a defence against microbes that enter the body through the immune process to prevent further infection and inflammation. Meanwhile, high levels of MC3R in excess Body mass index were associated with the function of MC3R as an inhibitor of pro-opiomelanocortin (POMC) neurons to release α-MSH.

The content of food nutrients is the key to for the body development as well maintenance. Poor food intake along with unhealthy lifestyle is one of the factors that cause various chronic diseases. Students belong to the transition age group from late adolescence to early adulthood. Most students live in boarding houses and dormitories, so students have an irregular diet and are unhealthy. The research aimed to investigate the relationship between energy and protein intake with Body Masa Index among active students at the Faculty of Science and Technology. The result showed that there was a significant correlation between energy consumption, protein consumption and students knowledge, with student;s Body Mass Index, while 8.3% of the respondents were identified into the 1st category of obesity

AbstractObjective: To relate two equations of the anthropometric method of the Body Mass Index (BMI) proposed by Quételet and Trefethen in women. Methods: The sample consisted of 222 women from the municipality of Canoinhas/SC, aged between 18 and 49 years. For the anthropometric measures body mass and height were evaluated. By means of the data obtained, the BMI was calculated using the formulas: Quételet= (kg/m2) and Trefethen= (1,3*kg/m2,5). In the data analysis, descriptive statistics were performed, the Pearson correlation coefficient (r) was performed to verify the relationship between the methods and the Bland-Altman test was used to verify the concordance between the equations. A significance level of p <0.05 was adopted. Results: A very strong and significant relationship was found (r= 0.98, p= <0.001) with a confidence interval (95% CI= 0.93-0.99) and concordance between the BMI equations. Conclusion: The BMI equation of Trefethen showed a very strong and significant association with the BMI equation of Quételet in women.

Body mass index (BMI) is to monitor nutritional status adults, especially those related to deficiency and overweight. Body fat percentage can describe the risk of degenerative diseases. This study was conducted to measure the relationship between BMI and body fat percentage. Methods An analytical study was conducted to 41 male and 51 female participant from Universitas Teuku Umar. The body weight was measured using scales, whereas the body height was measured using microtoise. The body fat percentage was measured using Karada Scan. The BMI was calculated by dividing the body weight in kilogram divided by body height in meter square. Data was collected from 16-18th February 2021 and analyzed by Pearson’s correlation test. The results showed BMI underweight, normal, and overweight were 10,9, 57,6, and 31,5. High body fat percentage in men were 75,6% and in women were 35,5%. There is a relationship between the nutritional status of the women group and the body fat percentage with p-value is obtained = 0.021. Furthermore, for men, there is no relationship between nutritional status in the men group and the body fat percentage. There is a relationship between nutritional status and body fat percentage in women. Among this population, BMI can still be used to determine body fat percentage

Introduction: Dietary factors or eating patterns can cause patients to experience anorexia so that it affects the body mass index measured by CKD patients (Susetyowati, 2014). Therefore, it is important to understand the research when studying the relationship between the diet of CKD patients and the body mass index of patients undergoing hemodialysis at the Dik Pusdikkes Hospital in 2021. Objective: This study aims to determine how big the influence of the relationship between the diet of CKD patients and the body mass index of patients undergoing hemodialysis to improve the quality of life of CKD patients. Method: The type of research used is quantitative research with a correlational design to determine whether there is a relationship between variables using experimental research. The population in this study that became the study population were all hemodialysis patients at the AD Pusdikkes Hospital. The sampling technique used was total sampling. The research instrument used is a questionnaire. The questionnaire is not standardized so that validity and reliability tests are carried out. In this study, the analysis used the chi-square test. Results: the results of the chi-square test showed that the p-value (0.028) <0.05 then Ha was accepted or there was a relationship between the diet of CKD patients and the patient's body mass index. Conclusion: Based on the results of the analysis of the relationship between the evaluation of hemodialysis patients at RS Dik Pusdikkes Kodiklat AD, 9 respondents had a poor diet with a body mass index in the lean category of 6 people (66.7%) and the normal category of 3 people (33.3%). And 11 respondents have a good diet relationship with body mass index in the thin category of 2 people (40.0%) and the normal category of 12 people (60%).
