The current work tries to inquiry how different teaching methods affect on the student’s emotional performance. The traditional questionnaire for data collection has been replaced by in-situ, on-line-assisted, survey. This instrument was continoulsy applied over the course of 17 General Science lessons.  The experiment involved 120 prospective primary education teachers. Emotions to choose: rejection, boredom, satisfaction, surprise and the teaching methods involved were pure oral presentation, oral presentation with gamification, oral presentation with audiovisual support, oriented research, and hands-on activities.  When the teaching method was changed to gamification or hands-on activities, the prospective teachers felt dynamic emotions, whereas they generally felt satisfaction or boredom (static emotions) with a traditional pure oral presentation.  The students mainly identified the teaching method as being the most influential reason for having chosen their prevalent emotion, reflected in a dramatic increase in emotional performance when they were taught with innovative methods.

Many of the private universities of Bangladesh have decided to continue their academic activities through online off-campus learning amid concerns that traditional classes could spread the COVID-19 virus. Teaching is moving online, on an untested and unprecedented scale. There are challenges and possibilities unveiling in the technical tertiary level education like Architecture. A Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) programme need to be comprising of both theory and sessional studio courses. The learning modes are not same for these two areas. Modification and new invention of teaching methods need to be introduced to coping of off-campus class. In this study, the first-hand experience of on-line teaching in B.Arch program of the author and the similar experience of faculties of the different universities of Bangladesh are triangulated to come up with a model of off-campus class. This article finds out the systematic process of teaching method to coping of off-campus class during the COVID-19 crisis for the Architecture pedagogy. The process has three domains and four major areas. The teacher’s domain and the student’s domain are connected through the domain of virtual classroom. The four major areas are live streaming, live discourse, prerecorded lecture and assignment and feedback. A well synchronization of these areas can establish the model of off-campus class for architecture pedagogy.

Remote on-line electron microscopy is rapidly becoming more available as improvements continue to be developed in the software and hardware of interfaces and networks. Scanning electron microscopes have been driven remotely across both wide and local area networks. Initial implementations with transmission electron microscopes have targeted unique facilities like an advanced analytical electron microscope, a biological 3-D IVEM and a HVEM capable of in situ materials science applications. As implementations of on-line transmission electron microscopy become more widespread, it is essential that suitable standards be developed and followed. Two such standards have been proposed for a high-level protocol language for on-line access, and we have proposed a rational graphical user interface. The user interface we present here is based on experience gained with a full-function materials science application providing users of the National Center for Electron Microscopy with remote on-line access to a 1.5MeV Kratos EM-1500 in situ high-voltage transmission electron microscope via existing wide area networks. We have developed and implemented, and are continuing to refine, a set of tools, protocols, and interfaces to run the Kratos EM-1500 on-line for collaborative research. Computer tools for capturing and manipulating real-time video signals are integrated into a standardized user interface that may be used for remote access to any transmission electron microscope equipped with a suitable control computer.

<p><em>Membaca merupakan keterampilan yang harus dikuasai oleh siswa dalam belajar bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa asing. Membaca tidak hanya melihat atau membaca apa yang tertulis namun juga memahami isi bacaan sehingga pembaca memperoleh ilmu serta informasi dari bacaan tersebut. Beberapa komponen membaca yang dikemukakan oleh para ahli, seperti pemahaman ide pokok, ide pendukung, kosakata, serta tata bahasa, membuat guru harus cermat dalam mengaplikasikan metode dalam mengajar bahasa Inggris khususnya membaca. Directed Activities related to Text (DART) merupakan metode mengajar yang dapat diaplikasikan dalam kegiatan membaca. Metode ini diaplikasikan melalui aktivitas rekonstruksi dan analisis. Tujuan penulisan artikel ini adalah mendeskripsikan cara pengajaran membaca melalui metode DART. Penulisan merujuk kepada kajian kepustakaan yang mendukung teori DART dalam pengajaran membaca. Dengan adanya informasi mengenai DART yang didukung oleh teori para ahli, dapat dijadikan sumber informasi tentang metode pengajaran bahasa Inggris khususnya membaca yang dapat diterapkan oleh guru di sekolah menengah.</em></p><p><em><br /></em></p><p>Reading is a skill that must be mastered by students in learning English as a foreign language. Reading not only see or read what is written but also understand the contents of the reading therefore the readers get the knowledge and information from the text. Some reading components are suggested by experts, such as understanding the main idea, supporting ideas, vocabulary, and grammar, it makes the teachers must be careful in applying methods in teaching English, especially reading. Directed Activities related to Text (DART) is a teaching method that can be applied in reading activities. This method is applied through reconstruction and analysis activities. The purpose of writing this article is to describe how teaching of reading through the DART method. The article support by a literature review  of DART theory in teaching reading. The information about of DART supported by expert theory, it can be used as a source of information about English teaching methods especially reading that can be applied by teachers in high school.</p><p><em><br /></em></p>

Abstract A new setup named Fast On-line Reaction Apparatus (FORA) is presented which allows for the efficient investigation and optimization of metal carbonyl complex (MCC) formation reactions under various reaction conditions. The setup contains a 252Cf-source producing short-lived Mo, Tc, Ru and Rh isotopes at a rate of a few atoms per second by its 3% spontaneous fission decay branch. Those atoms are transformed within FORA in-situ into volatile metal carbonyl complexes (MCCs) by using CO-containing carrier gases. Here, the design, operation and performance of FORA is discussed, revealing it as a suitable setup for performing single-atom chemistry studies. The influence of various gas-additives, such as CO2, CH4, H2, Ar, O2, H2O and ambient air, on the formation and transport of MCCs was investigated. O2, H2O and air were found to harm the formation and transport of MCCs in FORA, with H2O being the most severe. An exception is Tc, for which about 130 ppmv of H2O caused an increased production and transport of volatile compounds. The other gas-additives were not influencing the formation and transport efficiency of MCCs. Using an older setup called Miss Piggy based on a similar working principle as FORA, it was additionally investigated if gas-additives are mostly affecting the formation or only the transport stability of MCCs. It was found that mostly formation is impacted, as MCCs appear to be much less sensitive to reacting with gas-additives in comparison to the bare Mo, Tc, Ru and Rh atoms.

Abstract Background Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) emerged in China in December 2019. The COVID-19 pandemic hindered dental education, as school buildings were closed. Online dental teaching provided an alternative teaching tool for dental education. However, the efficiency of online dental teaching and student preferences for online dental teaching are unclear. Aim To investigate the satisfaction with online dental teaching practices among undergraduate dental students and standardized resident physician training students during the COVID-19 pandemic in China. Methods A total of 104 undergraduate dental students and 57 standardized resident physician training students from Zhejiang University participated in the study. A 12-item survey was conducted. This investigation included the teaching methods received, frequency of classes, degree of satisfaction, preferred teaching method, whether to participate in a course regarding COVID-19 prevention, and the effects of teaching. The percentages were then calculated and evaluated for each item. Results A total of 161 students (104 undergraduate dental students and 57 standardized resident physician training students) participated in this survey. All students had online dental classes during the COVID-19 pandemic. Lecture-based learning (LBL), case-based learning (CBL), problem-based learning (PBL), team-based learning (TBL), and research-based learning (RBL) were selected as teaching methods. Students were more satisfied with LBL and CBL than PBL, RBL, and TBL. The majority of students had more than four classes per week. The most selected protective measures were hand washing, wearing masks, and wearing gloves. A total of 46.6% of students participated in courses on COVID-19. After training, the students consciously chose to wear face shields and protective clothing. Conclusions Dental students accepted online dental learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. Students preferred LBL and CBL and were satisfied with the classes. Courses on COVID-19 helped students understand how to prevent COVID-19 transmission in the dental clinic.

Based on the current contradiction between the grammar-translation method and the communicative teaching method in English teaching, this paper, starting with clarifying the task of comprehensive English as well as the definition of the two teaching methods, objectively analyzes their advantages and disadvantages and proposes establishing a new method by fusing them with an elaboration on the reasonability of combining them in the practical teaching of comprehensive English with their complementary advantages.

ABSTRACTMicrowave multiport sensors have been shown to provide some unique capabilities to achieve real-time testing of products conveyed at high speed. In many applications, quantitative measurements of physical quantities such as moisture content, density, etc… are required, either to guarantee reliable production or to optimally control a fabrication/transformation process. In this paper, different ways of extracting such physical quantities from microwave measurements performed by multiport sensors are presented. Model approaches are used, based on polynomial expansions of the physical quantities to be measured as a function of the microwave amplitude and phase data. Calibration procedures have been investigated for both paper and wood material samples. Comparisons between in-situ, microwave and conventional, measurements are analysed.
