This chapter analyzes the role of financial innovation and mobile phone technologies to financial inclusion in Kenya. In order to do so, a case study on M-PESA is conducted, the leading mobile service of money transfers in Africa, which is offered by Safaricom. M-PESA services are cheap and easy to use in comparison to other formal and informal providers of financial services. It solves two different problems in Kenya: customers do not have to travel anymore long distances to reach financial services and more people can afford them. As result and in line with the literature, this chapter suggests that M-PESA services can be considered a type of disruptive innovation that promotes financial inclusion and wealth growth in Kenya.

The development of information technology which is supported by the rapid use of the internet has created several fintech that will make it easier for people to get digital financial services. The Financial Services Authority stated that the increase in national financial inclusion could be triggered by one factor, namely increased access to the use of fintech. The purpose of this study aimed to determine the role of fintech on financial inclusion in MSMEs in Makassar. The population in this study are MSMEs in Makassar with a sample of 335 informants. Researchers used primary data in the form of questionnaires that were distributed online and offline. Convenience sampling method is used in data collection in this type of quantitative research. Linear regression was used as an analytical technique. This study concluded that fintech has a positive effect on financial inclusion by 0,259.

Financial inclusion is a priority agenda in countries like Nepal. The study seeks to determine the access to financial services, financial innovation and quality of financial services to the financial inclusion.The study is based on questionnaire surveydata with363 household respondents using a convenient sampling technique, and carried out in Namobuddha Municipality of Nepal. The moderating effect of financial literacy and control variable of demographic items have been analysed using generalised regression model. The results show that financial innovation and quality of financial services are the significant determinants of financial inclusion; financial literacy is found significant and it plays a moderating role between the variables under study. The findings revealed that the tendency of higher level of financial inclusion was influenced by gender, education level and monthly income.

The domain of User Experience (UX) involves studying, designing for and evaluating the experiences that people have through the use of a system. This use takes place in a specific context, which has an impact on, or contributes to, the UX. As enterprises make a focus on the customer integral to their strategies, they need to recognize that technology developments are changing the customer relationship. In today's world, a great number of interactions between financial services and their customers have moved to digital environments and as a result a user interface design's significance increases in shaping the digital, financial experience.Based on this increasing importance, this paper proposes the role of usability studies for return on investment, along with a case study carried out in Kuveyt Turk Participation Bank. It involves an extended user research of online bank services which resulted with new specifications to be applied in the new corporate online banking service.

Technology and financial inclusion are the popular coinage in banking parleys in the country. While technological upgradation and mobile banking are catching up so fast, financial inclusion is tardy. Financial inclusion is a major agenda for the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Without financial inclusion, banks cannot reach the un-banked. It is also a major step towards increasing savings and achieving balanced growth. The reach the country is having with technological progress mobile banking has the potential to emerge as a game changer in terms of costs, convenience, and speed of reach. Business models of banks, telecom operators and other stakeholders need to converge. However, the banking industry’s penetration to un-banked areas is still found sluggish. The role of the Indian banker is challenging. At one end of this spectrum lies the demand to achieve financial inclusion as nearly 50 per cent of the population is yet to be covered under the formal system of banking and at the other end lies the task to fulfil the needs of the existing customers. The first priority for banks is to adopt core banking solution (CBS), including all regional rural banks (RRBs). Next, a multi-channel approach using handheld devices, mobiles, cards, micro-ATMs, branches and kiosks can be used. However, it should be ensured that the transactions put through such front-end devices should be seamlessly integrated with the banks’ CBS. In rural areas, where accessibility is a problem, banks are using the microfinance network and business correspondents and facilitators to bring more people under the ambit of banking services. Capitalising on the huge untapped potential in smaller towns and cities and rendering financial services to this segment of people poses a big challenge. Few banks have explored technology solutions to increase the scale of their microfinance portfolios, with the use of smart cards and core banking solutions. This article examines the relationship between remittances and financial inclusion in Ghana. The data for the study was extracted from the results of an analytical review of the living standards survey indicators in Ghana. The methodological tools of the study are represented by a regression equation based on the use of the Force Entry Method to test the functioning of variables in the model. The study empirically confirms and theoretically proves that domestic remittances have a positive and significant impact on access to financial services, while international remittances affect the likelihood of opening a bank account, but do not have any significant impact on applying for a loan and lending to remittance households. It is substantiated that domestic and international money transfers have a significant positive impact on the opening of bank accounts, even when forging collateral. Based on the results of calculations, the paper substantiates the conclusion that remittances contribute to increasing the availability of financial services in Ghana. It was noted that domestic remittances have a greater potential to improve financial inclusion in Ghana than international remittances. The paper emphasizes that the provision of collateral is an important lever for lending to households. Remittances will have very little impact on financial inclusion when financial institutions require collateral to facilitate the application and grant. According to the results of the study, the following recommendation were provideds: development of a strategy to improve domestic remittances to increase indicators of financial inclusion and economic development; improving the conditions for remittances, especially domestic remittances, in order to ensure their flexibility and deepen financial integration; use of domestic remittances as collateral for household loans. Agriculture is the largest employer of India which constitutes 50% of its workforce and also a contributor to 17-18% in its GDP. Still, it is one of the most disorganized and disjointed sector.Somewhere this sector has not been given due attention and itcan be proven with the fact that the GDP contribution of this sector has fallen from 43% to 18% (1970- 2018).Though the Indian Government is digitally driving to provide financial inclusion to more than 145 million households that are not having access to banking services but still the farmers aremajorlyusing traditional credit for their basic and main two factors; Production & Consumption (Distribution). The financial segment has an important role to make agriculture aprime contributorto the economic growth of the country and also in reducing poverty. A fast-evolving technological landscape is bringing up new potential to focus&provide credit, risk-sharing, and to explore technology to enhance agricultural productivity. Our paper firstly examines agricultural finance in the Indian context and then discusses how financial technology (Fin-Tech) can drive new products in credit and risk markets in India. We evaluate the role of mobile banking, financial literacy, digital financial services, digital financial technology, and block-chain technology. The paper is concluded with a discussion of policy takeaways for Fin-Tech in agriculture to promote agricultural growth, enhance financial inclusion, and improve regional economic integration through agriculture.

With the flagship success of M-Pesa, mobile devices have become an important tool to facilitate the financial inclusion of the previously unbanked population in developing countries. Following the success of M-Pesa in Kenya in 2007, mobile money technologies became widespread across Africa. Beginning in 2009, Ghana experienced exceptional adoption of Mobile Money technology. Many studies have examined the influence of mobile money on financial inclusion from a variety of perspectives, and many have concluded that mobile money is a game-changer in this regard. The Mobile Money concept has evolved based on introducing the other value-added services such as microloans, savings, and insurance portfolios. The researcher used a questionnaire and a face-to-face interview to obtain qualitative data for this study. Together with other research, the statistics revealed that Mobile Money transactions in Ghana had more than tripled since it became the most popular payment method. Over the last year, the platform as a service has created over 140,000 jobs and has shown to be the safest channel. It has several advantages, including lowering the cost of printing and keeping cash on hand, as well as decreasing fraud because the technology underlying it gives appropriate audit trails to prevent fraud and boost economic growth.

Privatisation is one of the key elements of the package of neoliberal reforms in the transition economies of Central and Eastern Europe which collectively constitute the ‘sharp shock’ strategy. In this, privatisation is ascribed the role of redistributing and clarifying property rights, which is an assumed precondition for efficiency improvements in individual firms. In practice, the transformation is characterised by path dependency, cultural and political legacies, and uneven and partial reform of market institutions and of regulation. We contribute to the debate on the link between property rights and firm-level performance in three main ways. First, we analyse the tourism sector as a counterbalance to the emphasis in the existing literature on manufacturing and financial services; particular emphasis is given to the roles of ‘operators’ and the ‘nomenklatura’, and to complex, nonlinear shifts in property rights. Second, we assess the performance of tourism firms created by different forms of creative and distributive privatisation; this emphasises the diversity of property rights, market segmentation, and the capital and debt structures of firms. Third, the value of the concept of ‘recombinant’ property for analysing the complex and changing forms of property rights is critiqued. These arguments are illustrated through a case study of tourism in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Cybersecurity is emerging as a major issue for many organizations and countries. Machine learning has been used to recognize threats, but it is difficult to predict future threats based on past events, since malicious attackers are constantly finding ways to circumvent defences and the algorithms that they rely on. Interactive Machine learning (iML) has been developed as a way to combine human and algorithmic expertise in a variety of domains and we are currently applying it to cybersecurity. In this application of iML, implicit knowledge about human behaviour, and about the changing nature of threats, can supplement the explicit knowledge encoded in algorithms to create more effective defences against cyber-attacks. In this paper we present the example problem of data exfiltration where insiders, or outsiders masquerading as insiders, who copy and transfer data maliciously, against the interests of an organization. We will review human factors issues associated with the development of iML solutions for data exfiltration. We also present a case study involving development of an iML solution for a large financial services company. In this case study we review work carried out on developing visualization dashboards and discussing prospects for further iML integration. Our goal in writing this paper is to motivate future researchers to consider the role of the human more fully in ML, not only in the data exfiltration and cybersecurity domain but also in a range of other applications where human expertise is important and needs to combine with ML prediction to solve challenging problems.
