This chapter describes an ontology based competence management model that can be used to support distributed collaborative working and facilitate organisational leaning. The chapter begins by examining the concepts of collaborative working and organisational learning in the context of knowledge management and competence management systems. It describes the different forms of knowledge that can be represented in such systems and uses this to describe an ontology-driven approach to competence management. An outline design for an ontology-driven competence management system and the related content management approach is then outlined using material from earlier work on a group memory system; the competence ontology and expert annotation technique used in group memory system is described in detail. The chapter concludes with some discussion concerning the role of such systems in Knowledge intensive industries and some directions for future research.

Introduction: Active surveillance is a conservative management approach to treating prostate cancer involving regular testing and close monitoring by the health professional. The aim of this literature review is to establish whether men experience a psychological impact of active surveillance and what the prevalent effects might be. Method: The search was carried out in three databases: CINAHL, Medline and PsycINFO. Articles published in English, from October 2015 to March 2018, which focused on the psychological impact of active surveillance, were included. Findings: A total of eight quantitative studies were included in this report. The review identified key psychological impacts of active surveillance, including anxiety, sub-clinical depression, illness uncertainty and hopelessness. Active surveillance was seen by some patients as a positive treatment approach that limited the side effects associated with active treatment. Conclusion: The evidence found a negative impact of active surveillance might be felt by men at any stage during treatment and at differing levels of severity. The article highlights key demographic areas, including ethnicity and age, for future research and recommends more qualitative studies are conducted.

This research examines the association of job attitudes (i.e. job involvement, job satisfaction, and commitment) with knowledge sharing behaviour of bank personnel through behavioural antecedents (i.e. motivation, attitude, and intentions to share knowledge). The hypothesised relationships among job attitudes (excluding job involvement), behaviour antecedents, and knowledge sharing behaviour are significant and consistent. Notably, the association of job satisfaction with the motivation to share knowledge is insignificant. The survey results are based on data from a stratified multistage cluster sample of 316 public and private sector bank professionals from Pakistan, analyzed using Partial Least Square (PLS)-Structure Equation Modelling (SEM). The research provides a framework for theoretical and practical implications in knowledge-intensive organisations to foster knowledge sharing that increases individual as well as organisational productivity. The study paves the way for future research by including knowledge-oriented leadership, culture, trust, knowledge governance, and citizenship behaviour in the current framework for analysis in diverse geographical and demographical contexts.

Purpose While goods- and service-dominant logics are separated in most research as alternative and often incompatible paradigms, this paper aims to show how these logics can be and are combined in purchasing strategies in organizations. The paper also illustrates that multiple logics exist in addition to purely goods- or service-based logics. Design/methodology/approach The paper is based on empirical data on the purchasing of management consulting services, which represent an extreme context for understanding the combination and intersection of goods- and service-dominant logics. In particular, four in-depth case studies and interviews with 51 sellers and 30 buyers of management consulting services are used to develop a typology of purchasing approaches that combines goods- and service-dominant logics. Findings The study shows that goods- and service-dominant logics are combined in two main purchasing phases: supplier set selection and assignment selection. In both these phases, parallel and knowledge-based, embedded and experience-based approaches were identified as ways of combining goods- and service-dominant logics in the purchasing context. Research limitations/implications The research presented in the following adds to our existing understanding of possible purchasing strategies under multiple logics in buying organizations. Future research should explore the conditions under which different strategies are and should be applied in organizations. Practical implications This paper gives practitioners alternative approaches to choose from in their purchasing and sales of knowledge-intensive services, in addition to transactional and relational strategies. Originality/value The research adds to existing research on business and industrial marketing by identifying particular purchasing strategies on a continuum between goods- and service-dominant logics.

Secara teoritis, praktek pengelolaan sumberdaya laut secara co-management lahir sebagai kritik terhadap pengelolaan yang bersifat sentralistik, seperti yang selama ini dipraktekkan di Indonesia dan community-based management. Kedua praktek pengelolaan sumberdaya laut ini memiliki kelemahan, yang diantaranya disebabkan oleh ketiadaan sinergi antara pemerintah dengan masyarakat (user group). Praktek co-management sebagai alternatif untuk mendorong terjadinya sinergi antar semua stakeholder terkait dalam pengelolaan sumberdaya laut. Penelitian ini mencoba mempelajari penerapan Co-fish di Kabupaten Lombok Timur- Nusa Tenggara Barat, yaitu pengelolaan sumberdaya laut yang dilakukan dengan pendekatan co-management dengan melibatkan stakeholder terkait. Bagaimana mekanisme dan dampaknya terhadap masyarakat binaannya serta bagaimana kekuatan dan kelemahannya yang didasarkan pada prinsip pendekatan co-management. Penelitian ini dilakukan melalui pendekatan kualitatif. Tittle: Co-management of Marine Resource : Lesson Learnt from the Management Model of Co-Fish in Lombok Timur District, Nusa Tenggara Barat Province.Theoritically, the practice of marine resource management was created as a criticied of centralistic management wich being, that was practiced in Indonesia for a long time , and community-based management. Both of these practices of marine resource management have weaknesses, caused by the inexistance of cooperation between government and society (user group). actice of co-management is an alternative option to push a cooperation among all of related stakeholder in marine resourcemanagement. The research to study the implementation of Co-Fish in Lombok Timur District, Province of Nusa Tenggara Barat. Marine resources management was carried out by co-management approach involving related srakeholders. The mechanism and impact of the implementation of Co-fish to the society, and how the strengths and weaknesses of Co-fish based on principal of co-management approach were analsed with qualitative approach.

This chapter illustrates internal market orientation's philosophy (IMO) and the innovative Internal Marketing practices in competitive firms. The chapter begins with an explanation of the field of innovation in services going beyond technology to IMO research topics. A brief history of Internal Marketing (IM) and main literature contributions are provided. After that, the focus turns to the empirical evaluation of IMO's dimensions. The analysis is undertaken with data from a survey in Spanish and Portuguese knowledge intensive business services (KIBs). An exploratory factor analysis was performed and eight factors have been extracted from the data set via principal components analysis: Efforts to create a good place to work, Focus on competencies, Dissemination, Awareness of labour market conditions, Focus on individual training and development, Feed-Back communication, Managing the moments of truth, and Internal market research. The chapter concludes with some reflections and suggestions for managers and future research directions are also highlighted.

This chapter aims to analyze the strategic management innovation in sustainable management of urban green spaces for neighborhood and community development. The report is intended to review the available theoretical and empirical literature on urban green spaces in the main related topics of community and neighborhood development, sustainable management, and strategic management innovation. The research methods employed are the analytical from a functionalist approach moving later into the critical analysis and finally from a holistic or integrative point of view. Finally, this chapter adopts a provocative and prescriptive strategic management approach of urban green spaces by presenting some research gaps and suggesting future research.

The university-software industry collaboration relationship has been represented a key resource, to the extent that together they can more easily promote technological development that underpins innovation solutions. Through a literature review, this chapter aims to explore the concepts and the facilitator or inhibitor factors associated with the collaboration relationships between university and software industry, taking knowledge management into account. This chapter is organized as follows. In the first section, the authors briefly introduce university, software industry, and knowledge management. The following section, based on the literature reviewed, provides a critical discussion of the university-software industry collaboration relationship, knowledge management in knowledge intensive organizations or community, and knowledge management in collaboration relationship between these two types of industries. Finally, in the rest of the sections, the authors point to future research directions and conclude.

The purpose of this paper is to verify whether the nature of the relationship between a tourist destination and tourist enterprises operating within its territory, can be defined as co-evolutionary. This paper derives from the continuation of previous researches of ours about the topic of destination management and destination governance. The theoretical background of this paper is based on the following research question: within the framework of the international tourist scenario, are there tourist hospitality models designed as a prototype of co-evolution between the tourist destination and its territory? In this paper, the analysis perspective which is considered the most appropriate to qualify the nature of the relationship among a given tourist destination and its tourist enterprises is the co-evolutionary perspective. According to such perspective, tourist enterprises co-evolve together with tourist destinations, while looking for long-term competitive advantages: tourist enterprises are considered critical resources to the development of the territory and vice versa. The co-evolutionary process implies the identification of a governance body able to exploit and enhance the systemic resources made available by the territory and to inspire the management approach of the different tourist enterprises. The absence of specific case studies represents a limit of the present paper. Hence, with a view to a subsequent future research, we will continue the proposed analysis by enriching it with empirical evidence, which will be useful to foster the debate on the subject matter and for the related entrepreneurial and management implications.
