Mobile applications have been used to support engaging and interactive learning over the past several years. However, most mobile apps for language education were developed for merely vocabulary learning and simple grammar exercises. Hence, it is important for instructors to encourage and guide students to participate in more diverse learning activities using the mobile apps to learn and practice the target language in their daily lives. This chapter attempts to introduce a sample of engaging mobile-assisted learning activities toward the use of multiple mobile apps like TIMeS (Taylor's Integrated Moodle e-Learning System), Naver Blog, and Quizlet. A survey was conducted to gather student responses and feedback regarding this app-based learning, and 266 students responded over four semesters in 2018 and 2019. The chapter examines how these app-based learning activities are advantageous to the students' learning outside of the classroom in terms of enhancing engagement and flexibly.

The realisation of personalised e-learning to suit an individual learner's diverse learning needs is a concept which has been explored for decades, at great expense, but is still not achievable by non-technical authors. This research reviews the area of personalised e-learning and notes some of the technological challenges which developers may encounter in creating authoring tools for personalised e-learning and some of the pedagogical challenges which authors may encounter when creating personalised e-learning activities to enhance the learning experience of their students. At present educators who wish to create personalised e-learning activities require the assistance of technical experts who are knowledgeable in the area. Even with the help of an expert the creation of personalised e-learning activities still remains a complex process to authors who are new to the concept of tailoring e-learning to suit learner diversity. Before the successful utilisation of adaptive authoring tools can be realised, academic authors need to learn how to effectively use these tools. All learners come to education with a diverse set of characteristics; educators need to decide which learner characteristic(s) they wish to focus on addressing through the use of personalised e-learning activities. Further investigation, evaluation and analyses of authoring tools is required before personalised e-learning to support learner diversity can be achieved by many academics. Research members of the AMAS (2013) project team are currently involved in developing an authoring tool for adaptive activities for e-learning.

E-learning quality depends on sound pedagogical integration between the content resources and lesson activities within an e-learning system. This study proposes that a meaningful learning with technology framework can be used to guide the design and integration of content resources with e-learning activities in ways that promote learning experiences, characterised by five dimensions: active, constructive, intentional, authentic, and collaborative. The pedagogical uses of these meaningful learning dimensions to support the design and integration of reusable learning objects as content resources will be explicated and exemplified through three cases related to the instruction of theories, principles, and professional skills respectively in a graduate programme. Design notes and surveys of students’ perception of learning experiences are used as data sources to understand how the five meaningful learning dimensions are being implemented by instructors and perceived by students. The strategies for supporting meaningful learning with reusable learning objects in higher education contexts are discussed.

Kata kunci: pelajar, pembelajaran daring, pengajar, sistem pembelajaran, website   Abstract: Modern technology is growing rapidly, as a society we can feel positive things from the development of modern technology, one of which is the internet. Using the internet with positive things can facilitate community activities, such as in the field of education, one of which is teaching and learning activities. With teaching and learning activities, it can add insight and knowledge to the community, but sometimes students and even teachers who carry out teaching and learning activities are too constrained by time and the regulations that apply to the place of study. The results of the problems that the authors get in conventional teaching and learning activities are that they are required to take the time to go to the place of study and also determine the duration of teaching and learning and even make regulations that sometimes make participants until the teacher is not comfortable with these rules. Therefore, the authors are interested in solving these problems by creating a learning information system (e-learning) with a web-based learner-led learning method that can be accessed anywhere and anytime without incurring costs and not being constrained by time. This research is expected to help in the teaching and learning process comfortably. This website also provides facilities such as video materials and articles aimed at making students more comfortable learning with interactive videos and certificate facilities are also available as evidence that students have succeeded in solving problems from the material they have studied.   Keywords: e-learning, learning system, student; teacher, website

Modern, computer-supported learning must go far beyond simply delivering learning content in a one-fit-for-all approach to students. It instead should include a variety of didactic aspects and cognitive characteristics. Furthermore, diverse systems and information must be taken into account for individualized learning processes. In light of this information, the objective of this chapter is to delineate an open, distributed, and service-based architecture for flexible teaching and learning activities. Backed by relevant research strands in this context, an architecture for an enhanced e-learning system developed within the AdeLE research project shall be depicted and experiences gained so far will be discussed. Based on this, a proposal is given for a generic and flexible architecture for adaptive e-learning towards the end of this chapter.

Teaching and learning activities, especially in Higher Education, from time to time develop along with the development of technology, especially information technology. Initially, the teaching and learning activities at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the Buddhist Dharma University (FST-UBD) used a manual system in the form of face-to-face class. The system (for several courses and meetings) developed into distance learning (e-learning) where lecturers and students did not meet in teaching and learning activities in the classroom but through the internet media. This distance learning system uses computer or laptop facilities. The e-learning system was developed into a mobile learning system, which is a distance learning system using an Android-based smartphone. In the mobile learning system, lecturers can provide lecture material and assignments to students. Students can view lecture material via cellphone and can download the material. Students can submit assignments to lecturers via cellphone. The University can provide information about the seminar to be held. Students can choose the seminar to be followed and can register for the seminar via cellphone. This application system can be run well and can help facilitate the process of teaching and learning activities for lecturers and students. Lecturers can upload material and assignments for students. Students can view / download material and submit assignments to the lecturer. The university can provide information about the seminar and the seminar registration process.

The demand for e-learning systems in both academic and non-academic organizations has increased the need to improve security against impersonation fraud. Although there are a number of studies focused on securing Web-based systems from Information Systems (IS) misuse, research has recognized the importance of identifying suitable levels of authenticating strength for various activities. In e-learning systems, it is evident that due to the variation in authentication strength among controls, a ‘one size fits all’ solution is not suitable for securing diverse e-learning activities against impersonation fraud. The focus of this exploratory study was to investigate what levels of authentication strength users perceive to be most suitable for activities in e-learning systems against impersonation fraud and aimed to assess if the ‘one size fits all’ approach that is mainly used is valid when it comes to securing e-learning activities from impersonation fraud. A sample of 1,070 e-learners was analyzed using descriptive statistics and exploratory factor analysis to uncover suitable levels of authentication strength to secure elearning activities against impersonation fraud. The findings determined that there is a specific set of e-learning activities that have high potential for impersonation and need a moderate to high level of authentication strength to reduce the threat.

The aim to be reached in writing this article is to inform the readers on how SPADA as one of instructional media based technologies today is effective to increase the quality of the learners in their self-regulated learning. In recent years, technology has increasingly developed with its widespread use in the economy, tourism and even education in the world. The existance of technology-based media in teaching and learning activities is needed to accompany the increasingly modern era of globalization. One of the technology-based media used in education is e-learning media. E-learning is a type of teaching and learning that allows the delivery of teaching materials to learners using the internet, intranet or other computer network media (Hartley, 2001). With this technology-based media, teaching and learning activities that previously only took place on campus or school, can be conducted anywhere and anytime, not limited by space and time. One of the e-learning media on campus is SPADA (Online Learning System). This system is developed to answer some of the challenges of higher education and organize learning without limits. The use of the SPADA website as a utilization of learners' self integration means how the use of SPADA can facilitate learners to practice their self-regulated learning. It means that by using SPADA, the learners are expected to increase their learning activities autonomously. By doing so, the lecturers/teachers only need to give their learners the lesson materials and perhaps some assignments then the rest of learning process will be left entirely to the learners, giving them freedom to pick their own learning pace. In this case, SPADA as one of instructional media based technologies is effective to improve the quality of the learners’ self-regulated learning.
