Although ASEAN integration commenced in 2015, achieving its goals is a work in progress. New opportunities for growth and prosperity are likely to emerge, but the colossal challenge is to ensure quality. This chapter discusses the mechanisms, procedures, and processes towards desired quality of LIS education to be globally competitive and regionally recognized. It further explains the qualifications framework and quality assurance compliance and its impact on developing competencies and recognition in the ASEAN labor market. The discussion puts emphasis on the status of LIS education in the Philippines as an empirical case, and further discusses the future directions towards achieving a system-wide evaluation of quality, articulation of a system of pathways and equivalencies, quality assurance and harmonization of LIS curriculum.

The use of technology for imaging has grown and optimized the quality of the diagnostics, speed of the examinations, and the level of dose for the patients. This work was developed using the exploratory study standard, through a bibliographical research of materials already produced, and aims to verify the presence of Artificial Intelligence (IA) applied to radiology as a means of optimizing the imaging diagnosis and awakening the professionals of the area on the evolution of technology to obtain a better medical diagnosis, concluding that, in the future, it may be required to adapt them to their insertion or permanence in the labor market, showing the importance of AI in radiology so that health professionals must develop in this area, since its application can bring great benefits to humanity.

The paper provides an explanation for widespread student employment in Russia. The main difference between Russia and Western countries is considered to be the following: student employment during the period of studying is widely used as a signal about the quality of human capital for the future employer. The authors show that in Russia more productive students start working earlier and employment is more often connected with the future profession than in the Western countries. They suggest that the system of communication between education structures and employers should be established in order to inform the latter about the quality and features of education acquired.

The purpose of this paper was to provide empirical evidence of the impact of quality assurance in higher education on two relevant higher education outcomes; students’ knowledge, skills, and competencies; and their employability. Survey data were collected from two major Romanian public universities and analyzed using a partial least-squares structural equations modeling (PLS-SEM) technique. The main results suggested that students’ competencies were positively and directly influenced by the quality of the educational process, as well as the practical and research activities. The students’ chances of employment in the labor market were positively and directly influenced only by the quality of the educational process and by the research activities. Indirect influences were also revealed. The findings of the study may be shown to have theoretical implications by proposing a model that links the features of quality management in higher education institutions with students’ competencies and chances of employment in the labor market. From a practical perspective, the results may be of interest to higher education policy makers, to evaluation and accreditation institutions, to universities, and also to students.

According to the contemporary understanding, a child is an integral being, an active participant in his/her own education, a curious and competent being with diverse interests, capabilities, knowledge and understanding, and a person who, driven by an innate curiosity, explores the world surrounding him/her, and actively acquires knowledge. These new paradigms have influenced the revision of understanding a child and his/her childhood, which is not only a preparatory stage for the future, but the period of life that has its own values and culture. Childhood is a process that is contextualized, always in relation to a specific space, time and culture, and varies according to different conditions and cultures in which it occurs. And it is the status of a child, conceived by adults, that is reflected in the overall education of the child, thus becoming a decisive factor in determining his/her social and ethical identity. This paper discusses the basic attitudes relating to a child and his/her childhood, upbringing, development and education within family and institutional surroundings.

Residential streets, particularly in automobile-dependent suburban locations, have frequently been perceived as ecologically unsustainable, antisocial, unhealthy, and aesthetically dull from an urban design perspective. However, residential streets can be improved through infrastructure retrofits, particularly by combining green and grey infrastructures and integrating various functions and services. Using a systematic literature review and an adapted landscape services framework, the paper analyses the status of retrofit research and discusses existing composition and spatial integration of green, grey, and green-grey street infrastructure. Findings suggest changing infrastructure compositions in residential streets and a trend toward increased grey and green-grey infrastructure integration. However, functional connectivity is often lacking, and while barriers to implementation have been suggested, few have been tested. While retrofits are potentially able to increase the number and quality of landscape services that support human well-being, more—and possibly longitudinal—research is required to advance and analyze their implementation and provide evidence for their success.

The rapidly growing number of learning materials and repositories makes the issue of how to find the most relevant and best quality resources to be integrated in teaching and learning offers. Thus, effective quality assessment tools are more and more needed. In the present paper, a case-study focusing on quality assurance in a Virtual Mobility (VM) international project is presented. VM stands for ICT supported activities, organized at higher institutional level, that makes possible or facilitate international, collaborative experiences in a context of teaching and/or learning. Different approaches were combined to ensure the quality of a specific MOOC and the OERs created to promote VM. Three main macro-indicators were identified for OERs evaluation: 1. Quality, 2. Appropriateness, and 3. Technical aspects. Each project partner was invited to search, select and peer-assess OERs related to the skills necessary to be engaged in VM. First results of the peer-review activity and future directions to ensure OpenVM OERs and MOOC quality are presented.
