A Novel QoS Aware Shortest Path Algorithm for VSDN

This article describes how a rapid increase in usage of internet has emerged from last few years. This high usage of internet has occurred due to increase in popularity of multimedia applications. However, there is no guarantee of Quality of Service to the users. To fulfill the desired requirements, Internet Service Providers (ISPs) establish a service level agreement (SLA) with clients including specific parameters like bandwidth, reliability, cost, power consumption, etc. ISPs make maximum SLAs and decrease energy consumption to raise their profit. As a result, users do not get the desired services for which they pay. Virtual Software Defined Networks are flexible and manageable networks which can be used to achieve these goals. This article presents shortest path algorithm which improves the matrices like energy consumption, bandwidth usage, successful allocation of nodes in the network using VSDN approach. The results show a 40% increase in the performance of proposed algorithms with a respect to existing algorithms.

<p>Quality of Service (QoS) is one of the most important parameters to be considered in computer networking and communication. The traditional network incorporates various quality QoS frameworks to enhance the quality of services. Due to the distributed nature of the traditional networks, providing quality of service, based on service level agreement (SLA) is a complex task for the network designers and administrators. With the advent of software defined networks (SDN), the task of ensuring QoS is expected to become feasible. Since SDN has logically centralized architecture, it may be able to provide QoS, which was otherwise extremely difficult in traditional network architectures. Emergence and popularity of machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) have opened up even more possibilities in the line of QoS assurance. In this article, the focus has been mainly on machine learning and deep learning based QoS aware protocols that have been developed so far for SDN. The functional areas of SDN namely traffic classification, QoS aware routing, queuing, and scheduling are considered in this survey. The article presents a systematic and comprehensive study on different ML and DL based approaches designed to improve overall QoS in SDN. Different research issues & challenges, and future research directions in the area of QoS in SDN are outlined. <b></b></p>

Service Level Agreement (SLA) is an agreement between the service provider and consumer to provide the verifiable quality of services. Using the valuable metrics in SLA, a service consumer could easily evaluate the service provider. Though there are different types of SLA models are available between the consumer and provider, the proposed approach describes the Fuzzy rule base SLA agreement generation among multiple service providers. A negotiation system is designed in this work to collect the different sets of provider services. With their desired quality metrics, a common Fuzzy based SLA report is generated and compared against the existing consumer requirements. From the analysis of the common agreement report, consumers can easily evaluate the best service with the desired Impact service, cost and Quality. The main advantage of this approach is that it reduces the time consumption of a consumer. Moreover, the best service provider can be selected among multiple providers with the desired QoS parameters. At the same time, the bilateral negotiation is enhanced with the approach of multilateral negotiation to improve the searching time of consumers.

The classification of services in 5G/B5G (Beyond 5G) networks has become important for telecommunications service providers, who face the challenge of simultaneously offering a better Quality of Service (QoS) in their networks and a better Quality of Experience (QoE) to users. Service classification allows 5G service providers to accurately select the network slices for each service, thereby improving the QoS of the network and the QoE perceived by users, and ensuring compliance with the Service Level Agreement (SLA). Some projects have developed systems for classifying these services based on the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that characterize the different services. However, Key Quality Indicators (KQIs) are also significant in 5G networks, although these are generally not considered. We propose a service classifier that uses a Machine Learning (ML) approach based on Supervised Learning (SL) to improve classification and to support a better distribution of resources and traffic over 5G/B5G based networks. We carry out simulations of our proposed scheme using different SL algorithms, first with KPIs alone and then incorporating KQIs and show that the latter achieves better prediction, with an accuracy of 97% and a Matthews correlation coefficient of 96.6% with a Random Forest classifier.

Network Monitoring System (NMS) is a system that is highly demanded internet service provider industry in this fast-developing information technology era. The availability of NMS is the best option to restore the service level agreement as a means to compete with other internet service providers’ competitors. The occurrence of disturbance in the network is often unnoticed by the network administrator. This may lead to a crucial problem in decreasing network quality as the impact of time-consuming in solving the problem. Through the explanation, the writer tried to anticipate by classifying problems using Pareto, and integrated Nagios with Telegram Messenger as a notification of disturbance. Nagios has many features such as reports, event handler, monitoring resource (CPU load, memory usage, status up / down, up time, data traffic, bandwidth), etc. One of notable feature owned by Nagios is blast notification of disturbance. It is a feature that will function when one of the devices is in trouble. This feature will inform the network administrator or authorized person in a certain divisions as regards the error network. In this case, the problematic device can be categorized according to the parameters made by the network administrator.

Current open issues regarding cloud computing include the support for nontrivial Quality of Service-related Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and reducing the energy footprint of data centers. One strategy that can contribute to both is the integration of accelerators as specialized resources within the cloud system. In particular, Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) exhibit an excellent performance/energy consumption ratio that can be harnessed to achieve these goals. In this paper, a multilevel cloud scheduling framework is described, and several FPGA-aware node level scheduling strategies (applied at the hypervisor level) are explored and analyzed. These strategies are based on the use of a multiobjective metric aimed at providing Quality of Service (QoS) support. Results show how the proposed FPGA-aware scheduling policies increment the number of users requests serviced with their SLOs fulfilled while energy consumption is minimized. In particular, evaluation results of a use case based on a multimedia application show that the proposal can save more than 20% of the total energy compared with other baseline algorithms while a higher percentage of Service Level Agreement (SLA) is fulfilled.

Regarding the ever-increasing development of data and computational centers due to the contribution of high-performance computing systems in such sectors, energy consumption has always been of great importance due to CO2 emissions that can result in adverse effects on the environment. In recent years, the notions such as “energy” and also “Green Computing” have played crucial roles when scheduling parallel tasks in datacenters. The duplication and clustering strategies, as well as Dynamic Voltage and Frequency Scaling (DVFS) techniques, have focused on the reduction of the energy consumption and the optimization of the performance parameters. Concerning scheduling Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) of a datacenter processors equipped with the technique of DVFS, this paper proposes an energy- and time-aware algorithm based on dual-phase scheduling, called EATSDCDD, to apply the combination of the strategies for duplication and clustering along with the distribution of slack-time among the tasks of a cluster. DVFS and control procedures in the proposed green system are mapped into Petri net-based models, which contribute to designing a multiple decision process. In the first phase, we use an intelligent combined approach of the duplication and clustering strategies to run the immediate tasks of DAG along with monitoring the throughput by concentrating on the reduction of makespan and the energy consumed in the processors. The main idea of the proposed algorithm involves the achievement of a maximum reduction in energy consumption in the second phase. To this end, the slack time was distributed among non-critical dependent tasks. Additionally, we cover the issues of negotiation between consumers and service providers at the rate of μ based on Green Service Level Agreement (GSLA) to achieve a higher saving of the energy. Eventually, a set of data established for conducting the examinations and also different parameters of the constructed random DAG are assessed to examine the efficiency of our proposed algorithm. The obtained results confirms that our algorithm outperforms compared the other algorithms considered in this study.

This paper examines the availability of Internet services in Higher Learning Institutions (HLIs) for developing countries such as Ghana, with respect to the cost and usage. We looked at the source of Internet services and the bandwidth package for some Higher Learning Institutions in Accra, Ghana. One of the key objectives of this study is to design and simulates an efficient Internet bandwidth usage for Higher Learning Intuitions. We examined the cost of bandwidth package offered by the Internet service providers to these higher institutions. In looking at the cost we also included the bandwidth packages offered, the type of Internet connection and the service level agreement with the ISPs. In the study, we looked at how the Internet is distributed to these institutions and the equipment used in the distribution of the Internet services. Ipswich Whatsup Gold software was used to monitor the network infrastructure for one of the institutions in the study. We went further to monitor the bandwidth consumption for Ghana Technology University College, one of the institutions in the study, to monitor their bandwidth consumption and traffic flow in the network. In designing an efficient bandwidth management for the Higher Learning Institution, we model and configured a network in Packet tracer using a proxy cache box. This technique allows for an efficient bandwidth planning capacity to manage the bandwidth consumptions. At the end of the study, we modeled a network using cache box to restrict and minimize bandwidth usage and thus making it less expensive for the Higher Learning Institutions.

Cloud computing is a booming technology in the area of digital markets. Tackling the nonfunctional characteristics is a big challenge between service consumers (SC) and service providers (SP). Without proper negotiation between the participants specifying their quality of service (QoS) requirements, service level agreement (SLA) cannot be achieved. Two strategies that are commonly prevalent in the negotiation process are concession model and trade off model. The concession model assures the service consumer (SC) receiving the services on time without any deferment. But service consumer has only limited utility. To balance the utility and achievement rates, the authors propose a mixed negotiation approach for cloud service negotiation, which is based on “Game of Chicken.” Extensive results show that a mixed negotiation approach brings equal amount of satisfaction to both service consumer and service provider in terms of achieving higher utility and outperforms the concession approach, while taking fewer time delays than that of a tradeoff approach.
