The main purpose of this research is to optimise the injections moulding parameters in processing of thermoplastics samples made from Polypropylene (PP)-Clay with the fraction of 95% PP and 5% Clay, through Design of Experiment -Taguchi Method. The selection of defects or responses that need to be controlled for these thin layer products were warpage and shrinkage. The parameters that were taken into consideration were packing pressure; melt temperature, screw speed and filling time. In this research, the L934 orthogonal from Taguchi Method was chosen as the experiment setup. According to the results, 170°C of melt temperature, 80% of packing pressure, 70% of screw speed and 3 seconds of filling time gave minimum shrinkage of 3.45%. As for the warpage results, the best parameters combinations are 170°C of melt temperature, 70% of packing pressure, 70% of screw speed and 2 seconds of filling time. The Analysis of Variance for warpage shows that screw speed was the most significant factor with 41.83% contribution. As for shrinkage, the most influential factor was packing pressure with 98.48% contribution. Two factors have been pooled which are screw speed and filling time. Based on these findings, it is concluded that by controlling the optimum parameter setting, the best quality of desired product can be easily achieved and maintain through the in process production.

Injection moulding is one of the most efficient processes in mass production that can easily attain up to complex geometry product within a very short cycle time. To choose a suitable setting of parameter was very crucial, in controlling the quality of product with regard to their function. The main propose of this research is to optimize the injection moulding parameter for controlling the shrinkage and warpage of thermoplastics sample through practical injection moulding. The additional study for this project is to investigate the effect of nanoclay contents towards the parameter setting. In this experiment, the selected parameters were packing pressure; melt temperature, screw speed and filling time. The material that was selected for this project was a mixture of polypropylene and nanoclay with the addition of polypropylene-grafted-maleic anhydride as the compatibilizer. Three formulations were chosen, which was 0 wt%, 3 wt% and 5 wt% of Nanoclay. Each formulation was added with 15 wt% of compatibilizer. The experiment design for this project shall adopt the L943Orthogonal Array of Taguchi Method. By using the Signal to Noise Ratio responses, the optimum parameter for each formulation has been obtained. The findings of this experiment shall be useful for future manufacturing process in order to control shrinkage and warpage specifically for products made from polypropylene-nanoclay.

The purpose of this research is to optimise the processing condition of injection moulding towards samples made from polypropylene-nanoclay-bamboo fibre with compatibilizer. The defects that have been controlled upon the optimisation were shrinkage and warpage. The selection of injection moulding processing condition was packing pressure, melt temperature, screw speed and filling time. The research started by drying the bamboo fibres at 120°C. Then, the 1 wt. % fibres were mixed with 79 wt. % of polypropylene, 15 wt. % of compatibilizer and 5 wt. % of nanoclay. The mixing process was performed by using Brabender Plastograph machine. After that, pallets were produced by using Plastic Granulator machine for injection moulding process. The optimisation process was accomplished by adopting the Taguchi method. According to the results, the value of warpage defect between compounding for 1 wt. % fibre and without fibre content was not significant. However the optimum setting of 170°C melt temperature, 35% packing pressure, 30% screw speed and 2 seconds filling time can significantly reduce shrinkage. In conclusion, the optimum processing condition of polypropylene-nanoclay, fibre bamboo had been achieved, and the existence of fibre obviously giving a promising manufacturing opportunity to improve the quality of the injected moulding products.

Various factors affect the quality of a plastic product during the injection molding process. In this study, the quality engineering planning method, Taguchi Method, and grey relational analysis were used in this study to determine these factors and the Moldflow Plastics Insight (MPI) was used to conduct the moldflow analysis. By varying different types of operating conditions, the results obtained from the experiments were analyzed so as to verify the influence of each factor on the quality of the final product. The optimal processing parameters which can reduce the mold tryout time and the analysis cost were then determined. The plastic impeller of a computer cooling fan is selected as the case study and the goal is to resolve the warping problems. The deviations in the shear stress distribution as obtained by varying the S/N ratio of variance factors during the experiments are in agreement with the results of analyzing the grey information relational degrees. The most influential factor is the mold temperature, followed sequentially by the fill time, fill pressure, and melt temperature.

The aim of the paper is to identify the factors influencing consumers when beer consumption and when choosing restaurants for beer consumption in the Czech Republic (CR). A partial goal was to compare preferences and factors influencing beer consumers from the Vysočina Region and the South-Moravian Region. The survey included a questionnaire survey, which 408 respondents took part in. The results showed that the most influential factors in the selection of beer for consumers are taste, a high-quality brand, and Czech production. Surprisingly, price was not found to be an influential factor in beer selection but is rather neutral. Factors that influence consumers most when choosing a restaurant for beer consumption were also identified. Consumers are most influenced by the quality of the beer on offer and the environment in which it is consumed.

The aspheric VCD lens is hard to fabricate by injection moulding due to its small volume and high precision requirement. The processing conditions have critical effects on the quality of the moulded lenses. An optic lens needs precisely controlled surface contours, so determination of the processing conditions for lens moulding becomes very complicated. This study’s purpose is to investigate experimentally some effects of the moulding conditions on the form errors of injection moulded lens. An aspheric VCD lens was moulded using polymethyl methacrylate. Different combinations of moulding conditions were used focusing on moulding process parameters of the ram speed, the mould temperature, the melt temperature and the packing pressure, The predicted model of form errors was formulated by orthogonal and regression analysis. Finally, the predicted model is proven to be valid based on the residual diagnostic plots.

An experimental study of GTAW was conducted to determine the optimization of weld parameters on the droplet formation in the surface quality of weld pools. These optimization investigations consisted of welding current, welding speed and feed rate. The strength and surface quality of weld pool were measured for each specimen after the welding parameter optimizations and the effect of these parameters on droplet formation were researched. To consider these quality characteristics together in the selection of welding parameters, the Orthogonal Array of Taguchi method is adopted to analyze the effect of each welding parameter on the weld pool quality, and then to determine the welding parameters with the optimal weld pool quality.
