Devoting major efforts to developing public transport and practicing public traffic priority has been one of the important approaches to solve traffic problems. In order to evaluate the quality of public transport services quickly and accurately, time reliability degree is taken as evaluation index. The time reliability degree of the bus line can be got through the computation of the reliability degree of running and waiting time. In the end, the bus line of K362 inChangchuncity is taken as an example to show the evaluation process. The evaluation theory and method of public transport system is perfected by the result.

Transport is an essential part of national economic, social and sustainable development that can produce both positive and negative effects on the environment and the quality of life depending on the level of development and indicated preferences. Modern interpretations of sustainable urban development require reducing the use of private cars through improving the quality of public transport services. Therefore, identifying the inefficiencies of the public transport system will help with improving service management, expanding coverage and increasing the attractiveness of public transport services. There is a general agreement that excellent customer service is a source of competitive advantage. The key to providing effective customer service is the accurate determination of the customer's needs and response to them in a consistent manner in order to assure their satisfaction. The SERQUAL model was employed as an instrument to measure customer satisfaction and give valuable information and guidelines for transport service companies on necessary improvements in their daily operations. The SERQUAL approach, in case service quality is defined and measured as the difference between expectations and perceptions, is the major point of departure from the previous attempts to find possible solutions to improving public transport services.

The paper presents the possibility, necessity, ideology and essence of the entropy method of estimating the orderliness of the transportation process in relation to urban public transport. Examples of numerical definition of the relative entropy of the transportation process on typical public transport routes are given. The paper shows that the level of orderliness of the transportation process, identified by relative entropy, is determined by the specifics of the spatial location of public transport routes in terms of the urban area and mainly depends on the quality of users of public transport services.

Transport accessibility is an area of growing global attention among transportation planners and policymakers. This paper aims to portray spatiotemporal variations of car and public bus accessibility in the context of a city in a developing country: Dhaka, Bangladesh. The public bus system in Dhaka is characterized by a semi-formal arrangement which means there is a lack of available data, for example, General Transit Feed Specification, which poses great difficulties in the study of accessibility. Given these limitations, we have presented the concept of major destinations to analyze spatiotemporal accessibility based on the simple understanding that trip purposes, time of day, and trip destinations are interlinked in an urban area, and different locations would attract a different number of trips based on the time of day. Using a spatial autocorrelation approach, we identified the statistically significant destination clusters in Dhaka by peak and off-peak hours. We measured accessibility to the major destinations using a cumulative opportunity-based metric followed by estimation of the Modal Accessibility Gap (MAG). The findings indicated that, regardless of the trip origins and time of day, dependence on public transport puts the users in a substantially disadvantageous position. From the policy perspective, we have suggested the introduction of a formal public transport system in Dhaka, particularly targeting the traffic analysis zones with higher MAG. Such an approach would lead to better resource usage while providing enhanced public transport services for both peak and off-peak hours and limiting dependence on cars.

With the increase in the number of public and private buses in cities in recent years, managing the bus fleet across various routes in an efficient and effective manner has become cumbersome. This is resulting in suboptimal services, inability to effectively cater to existing demand, and poor quality of public transport services.  Modern technological advancements have created a tremendous opportunity to improve various aspects of public transport services, to not only serve existing demand but attract increasing number of passengers to public transport from a sustainable development standpoint.  One such area which is gaining momentum is intelligent fleet management using the concept of Internet of Things (IoT).  This area calls for a cross-field collaboration between engineers from various disciplines to use the up and coming idea of Internet of Things (IoT) for overcoming the challenges of intelligent fleet management. This paper explores the opportunity for incorporation of IoT to manage bus fleets based on the occupancy ratio and the resulting benefits that can be achieved in terms of fleet frequency optimization.

The intensification of public transport in urban areas due to increased mobility at the regional and state levels, discrepancies between urban areas with the same population and the lack of statistics related to the efficiency and quality of public transport services are the main factors of our work. It is necessary to draw boundaries between the quality of services and the performance indicators of the public transport system. The quality of services is the subjective result of many intangible variables. The quality of service can be approached from four sides: from the point of view of the passenger, the performance of the vehicle, the specialized passenger transportation company, and the Government. Accessibility, comfort and convenience-these are the main indicators that should be evaluated by the population as having high ratings for the good quality of urban transport services. The tool used to collect the data is the preference survey. Keywords: service quality, public transport, evaluation, efficiency, methods, passenger, survey

An integrated public transport system should provide seamless travel to passengers so that they can enjoy good service connection, reasonable waiting time at interchanges, comprehensive information and an integrated ticket amongst different transport modes. Such a system is essential because it allows integrated travel by using all public transport modes that suit passengers’ routes. The concept of integration in public transport, which includes physical, network, fare, information and institutional integration, generally adopts the vision of ‘good practice’ in terms of integration of public transport services. This research concentrates on bus service because it is the primary public transport mode in Penang, Malaysia. This work analyses the Rapid Penang Bus Operation and Network in detail by using a system of indicators derived from surveys and detailed information supplied by the operator. Several recommendations are also provided to improve the reliability, convenience, accessibility, coordinated physical effort and fair fare of bus services.

Relationship marketing involves negotiated service promise, which is characterized by: the reliability of trip in the desired direction, using of suitable means of transport at a certain price, expected conditions of trip in right time. The universality of the principles of customer service determined the adoption of marketing orientation by the Public Transport Authority in Gdy-nia. It’s made by marketing research and forming of public transport services based on its re-sults. PTA in Gdynia planning services, takes into account not only the needs of existing cus-tomers (passengers), but also the needs of people using private cars. This makes possible to increase quality of PT services. The rule: "right the first time" is the main determinant of Public Transport Authority in Gdynia.

Public transportation is one of the sustainable form of transportation which provides mobility options for the people. The public transport services are very basic need of people’s lives, especially in developing world. It is the basic means for mobility of a large percent of people and hence it is the driving force of economic and social life. Quality of service, characterized by the Level-of-Service (LoS) is one of the major factors determining the demand for public transport. This study tries to determine the city-wide Level-of-Service provided by the public transport system using the service level benchmarks as a case study of Trivandrum city. The indicators for determining the Level-of-Service used in the study are presence of organized public transport system, availability or extend of public transport supply, service coverage, average waiting time, level of comfort in public transport and the fleet availability. This approach can be used to determine the LoS at the city-level and thus provides a measure for identifying the public transport quality of an urban area.
