Euler-Lagrange (Euler-Lagrange, EL) mathematical model was established according to the topology of TNPC (T-type Neutral Point Clamped) PV grid-connected inverter. Based on the mathematical models and passivity-based control theory, the approach called injecting damping was adopted to design the passivity-based controller of the inverter. The passivity-based controller can decoupled-qaxis current at AC side of the grid and achieve unity power factor, the total harmonic distortion of grid-connected current is low, and the passivity-based controller also make the inverter have good dynamic and static performances. Simulation results show that the designed passive controller of TNPC PV grid-connected inverter is feasible.

This paper presents about the comparison between single-phase PFC Cuk converter and bridgeless PFC (BPFC) Cuk converter for low power application. This study attempts to investigate the characteristics of conventional and bridgeless PFC Cuk converter structures with three different output voltages and verified by the simulation results. The BPFC Cuk converter provides a lower Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of input current than the conventional PFC Cuk converter. However, the conventional PFC Cuk converter has advantage of less maximum current stress at components compared to the BPFC Cuk converter. Conventional and BPFC Cuk converter can achieve an approximately unity power factor (PF).

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to provide a T autotransformer based 12-pulse rectifier with passive harmonic reduction in more electric aircraft applications. The T autotransformer uses only two main windings which result in volume, space, size, weight and cost savings. Also, the proposed unconventional inter-phase transformer (UIPT) with a lower kVA rating (about 2.6% of the load power) compared to the conventional inter-phase transformer results in a more harmonic reduction. Design/methodology/approach To increase rating and reduce the cost and complexity of a multi-pulse rectifier, it is well known that the pulse number must be increased. In some practical cases, a 12-pulse rectifier (12PR) is suggested as a good solution considering its simple structure and low weight. But the 12PR cannot technically meet the standards of harmonic distortion requirements for some industrial applications, and therefore, they must be used with output filters. In this paper, a 12PR is suggested, which consists of a T autotransformer 12PR and a passive harmonic reduction (PHR) based on the UIPT at direct current (DC) link. Findings To show the advantage of this new combination over other solutions, simulation results are used, and then, a prototype is implemented to evaluate and verify the simulation results. The simulation and experimental test results show that the input current total harmonic distortion (THD) of the suggested 12PR with a PHR based on UIPT is less than 5%, which meets the IEEE 519 requirements. Also, it is shown that in comparison with other solutions, it is cost effective, and at the same time, its power factor is near unity, and its rating is 29.92% of the load rating. Therefore, it is obvious that the proposed rectifier is a practical solution for more electric aircrafts. Originality/value The contributions of this paper are summarized as follows. The suggested design uses a retrofit T autotransformer, which meets all technical constraints, and in comparison, with other options, has less rating, weight, volume and cost. In the suggested rectifier, a PHR based on UIPT at its dc link of 12PR is used, which has good technical capabilities and lower ratings. In the PHR based on UIPT, an IPT is used, which has an additional secondary winding and four diodes. This solution leads to a reduction in input current THD and conduction losses of diodes. In full load conditions, the input line current THD and power factor are 4% and 0.99, respectively. The THD is less than 5%, which satisfies IEEE-519 and DO-160G requirements.

This paper developed a mathematical model of three-phase PV grid-connected inverter, and studied the grid-connected current control method based on PI control in synchronous rotating reference frame. Simulation and experimental results from the prototype of 30kW three-phase PV grid-connected inverter proved the correctness and the feasibility of the control strategy, and this grid-connected inverter can operate at the unity power factor state with a nice dynamic performance, and the output current has high sinusoidal and low harmonic content as well as good symmetry.

This paper presents a new single-stage single-switched forward converter with magnetic coupled nondissipative snubber, which gives good power factor correction (PFC), low current harmonic distortion, and tight output voltage regulation. The proposed converter features low switch current and voltage stresses, essential for the design of a single-stage power factor correction converter. The prototype shows that the IEC1000-3-2 requirements are met satisfactorily with nearly unity power factor. This proposed converter with magnetic coupled nondissipative snubber is particularly suited for power supply applications with low power level.

It is well-known that attainable DC link voltage loop bandwidth in grid-connected converters operating with unity power factor is limited due to trade-off with AC-side current total harmonic distortion (THD). The letter reveals that THD requirement directly imposes the value of voltage loop gain magnitude at double-grid frequency; therefore the dynamic performance may be improved without deteriorating the grid-side current quality by modifying the controller structure such that the loop gain magnitude at double-grid frequency and the crossover frequency are decoupled. Experimental results validate the revealed findings.

In this paper, the perfect harmonic cancellation (PHC), unity power factor (UPF) control strategies of distribution static compensator (DSTATCOM) are compared along with a newly proposed control strategy. In the proposed strategy, to get the best power factor, the conductance factors for the compensated load are evaluated for a specified source current total harmonic distortion (THD) limit. The performance of this method along with perfect harmonic cancellation (PHC) and unity power factor (UPF) strategies is evaluated on a distribution system model developed using PSCAD 4.2.1. In the distribution system, harmonic resonance is one of the prime factors for the harmonic propagation. Hence, in damping the harmonic resonance, selection of an appropriate control strategy for the DSTATCOM is crucial and this is verified with a detailed study. The simulation results are presented to show the performance of these strategies in load compensation and damping the harmonic propagation in the distribution system.

The subject of creation of simulation and mathematical models is nowadays more and more current and its application is in almost every aspect of life. The article deals with compiling a mathematical model of a pivoting arm using Lagrange equations of the second kind. Subsequently, the model will be created in the simulation program Matlab/Simulink. The simulation model will as well be assembled in the program Adams. The results of these simulations will be compared in the conclusion. This article presents a procedure for resolving a mechanical system from the beginning, from creation of a mathematical model through creation of a simulation model up to evaluation of the simulation results. This paper presents a procedure for resolving mechanical system from the beginning. Thus, it is done by creating a mathematical model through the creation of a simulation model to evaluate the results of the simulation. According to these simulations will produce a working model of the manipulator, which could be used for teaching purposes.

In this paper, the effects of the grid-tie photovoltaic plant (PV) are analyzed on the power factor and the voltage harmonic distortion in the power quality aspect of the distribution network. The conditions for the total harmonic distortion (THD) in the power grid related to the photovoltaic power station connected to the user side are also summarized. Based on MATLAB/SIMSCAPE software, one string of the photovoltaic system at the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) was simulated and hence, compared its results with the real results of the system. Measurement and simulation results illustrate that the voltage harmonic distortions to the power grid do not exceed the recommended levels, but the photovoltaic system needs to have a capacitor bank to get a unity power factor.
