he paper considers a possibility to apply gravity models for calculation of intercity passenger transport corres- pondences which are implemented with the help of public transport. The Ukraine transportation system has been selected as an object of investigation and this approach extends application possibilities of the obtained results. Calibration coefficients used in calculation of the indicated correspondences are rather important and significant in case of forecasting passenger transport correspondences. Formalization of these factors is necessary for every transportation system if a calculation of pas-senger transport correspondences has been made for it. In this case searching for actual calibration parameters and other coef-ficients as components of gravitational models is a relevant objective of the given paper. Selection of the gravity model va- riant plays rather significant role in solution of this problem. The developed methods for calculation of passenger transport correspondences are proposed for their application in respect of various transport and trip types. The executed research works have made it possible to investigate a process pertaining to providing of services for passenger transportation while using public routes. The obtained characteristics on functioning of the studied system have allowed to assess the possibility for ap-plication of the known methods for calculation of passenger correspondences and analyze the quality of their application. Calibration coefficients have been empirically selected for calculation of the indicated correspondences while using method of gravity modeling. Formalization of previously unexplored parameters of gravity model component provides the possibility to apply the considered approach for calculation of passenger correspondences within the framework of the investigated trans-portion system. This makes it possible to plan and arrange interaction of various transport types and provides new data and knowledge on the studied system.

Urban transport is a comprehensive and dynamic mechanism. Therefore, all the problems for improving and reorganization of the system can be examined only in the light of a systemic approach. Currently, public passenger transport is one of the most important branches of the urban development in cities and metropolis. Public passenger transport activity and all the steps taken to improve that activity are considered to be of great social importance. In the current stage of city development, one of the main tasks is to create a public passenger transportation system that is safe, affordable, economical, reliable and environmentally friendly. The important role of passenger transport in the city's economy and achieving important social services to the population, dictates the need to introduce measures in the system that are harmonious, balanced and effective. This can only be done, in the context of current development, only after the system as a whole is tested extensively through special traffic and management software.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.4995/CIT2016.2016.4255

When designing passenger transport systems and modeling their operation, researchers face the problem of choosing the consumer properties of the transport system. In modern conditions, in order to compete with other modes of transport, each transport system must offer the passenger a continuous mode of operation, in which the passenger does not need to adjust to the schedule, but only needs to arrive at the stop point and wait for the nearest vehicle (train, bus, etc.). One of the most important characteristics required for design and simulation is the time that a passenger is willing to spend waiting for a vehicle at a station without compromising the comfort of transportation. The paper reveals regularities between such important parameters of schedules as the maximum allowable (optimal for the organizer of transportation) and comfortable (for the passenger) value of intervals between vehicles on the example of suburban-urban railway passenger transportation. A qualitative estimation of the speed parameter of the vehicle traffic schedule is introduced. The values of comfortable and maximum permissible intervals between trains are determined depending on the distance (duration) of the trip.

Market liberalization is a great contemporary trend in many fields of economy. Liberalized transport market, where the transport demand is meeting with transport offer, is evolving dynamically. Private railway passenger operators want to increase their market share together with national railway passenger transport companies therefore the quality of passenger transportation is getting higher, which positively influences the attractiveness of railway passenger transport. The article is focused on these current trends of liberalization in railway passenger transport market. From operational and economical point of view, there are described some ways, how to make the railway passenger transport system more effective and make the entire transport system more attractive for traveling public.

The rapid significant increase in the quality of the process of passenger transportation by Kyiv public transport can be a powerful motivation to increase the frequency of its use. However, the parameters of the desired change in the quality of urban transport remain unknown, which leads to its chaotic management. Two trends in urban passenger traffic quality research are common. The first approach deals with measuring the operating parameters of the transport system, and the second one focuses on the research of customers' opinions regarding transport services. However, none of the scientists focuses fully on the specific human behavioral responses to the quality of the city's passenger transportation service, when urban transport is opposed to a private car. Because of this, the assessment of the quality of urban passenger transport requires the development of special tools. It is already clear today that not all traditional approaches used in studies of transport behavior that depend on the quality structure may be suitable for this.

The paper focuses on formalizing the task of choosing the optimal number of public transport for minimizing total losses of the transport system and all passengers (where passenger loss is expressed by their waiting time at the stations). As for the research tool, the queuing theory apparatus was chosen. There was introduced a nonlinear function that estimates passenger loss, given the relations for finding two parameters describing the function. A system of equations describing possible states of the queuing system under consideration in the stationary mode of its operation has been obtained. Similar equations are derived for the case when the rate of passengers arriving to the stations depends on the number of passengers already waiting at the stations, which is typical for cases where there are a small number of possible sources of passenger arrival to the station, e.g. in industrial districts of the cities. The optimization problem of finding the optimal number of vehicles is formulated by minimizing the total losses of the transport system and all passengers. The solution of the problem obtained is reduced to solving the system of equations using Newton method as one of the most effective methods for solving systems of equations defined by analytic expressions. Software implementation of the procedures given in the work will reduce the number of vehicles for passenger transportation to a certain acceptable level, thereby reducing the amount of traffic on urban roads.

To build a comprehensive transportation system is an important measure to promote rapid and healthy development of the field of transportation. How to prepare railway network planning become an urgent problem, under the background of pursuing the integrated transport concept. Previous studies focus on the single transportation modes, to conduct railway planning. This paper first defines the overall transportation system, then studies the impact of integrated transport system to railway planning, and analyzes the Influencing factors, finally, makes railway network planning of Shandong province as an examples. This instance analyzes the problem of the Status quo railway, then introduces the integrated transport planning channels in Shandong Province, and proposes strategies under the influence of the concept of an integrated transport system, at last divides the railway network channels and plans the railway network in Shandong Province .

This article is devoted to description of the basic principles of constructing a motion schedule in an intelligent urban passenger transport system based on robotic vehicles, which ensures the non-conflict motion of unmanned vehicles, in which the vehicles in front do not delay those following them. In the introduction of the article, a description of the basic problems of modern urban passenger transport systems and the formulation of the research targets are given. The section "Principles of ITS function" provides a description of the transport system concept and principles of functioning for the aim that the reader can receive a holistic view of the research subject. A basic characteristic features of this intelligent urban passenger transport system are that ITS is capable of timely adjusting to changes in demand for transportation, because processes occurring in the transport system (collection of service requests, data processing and analysis, planning and organization of transportation) are cyclical and are carried out in real time. The drawing up of the movement schedule of vehicles also occurs in real time. In the section "Drawing up a traffic schedule of vehicles" the basic principles of constructing a vehicles traffic schedule are given and their usage is demonstrated with a specific example. The introduction in usage this intelligent city passenger transport system, built on the proposed principles, will allow to get technology of passenger transportation that able to adaptive changes of number autonomous transport units that are used in transportation, depending on the demand for transportation. Such approach allows both to fully and timely satisfy the needs of passengers, and to save the resources of the transport system, what is the main aim of each passenger transport system

Multiple actors from both private and public sectors are currently involved in the design and operation of urban passenger transport systems seeking at optimizing their own objectives. Multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) techniques actually aid this process. In this chapter, the authors consider the problem of locating multimodal terminals of an integrated public passenger transport system (IPPTS). A case study for the city of Bogota, Colombia is evaluated. Majority of works in MCDM does not explicitly justify the choice of the applied technique. This chapter applies three different techniques, AHP (analytic hierarchy technique), ELECTRE II (elimination and choice expressing the reality), and CRITIC (criteria importance through intercriteria correlation), to solve problem. A feature of this study is that traditional economic and logistic criteria are evaluated together with environmental and social criteria not previously evaluated in the literature. Numerical results show that each multi-criteria approach may prefer a different alternative, depending on the intrinsic behavior of each technique.
