A pseudo-dynamic test has been finished to a CFST tube structure model. The model with 13 floors and a scale of 1:10 consists of an outer-tube and an inner-tube, the former is a framed-tube supported on CFST frames and the latter is an RC tube. A series of pseudo-dynamic tests on acceleration earthquake waves in four cases (peak acceleration equal to 0.22g, 0.4g, 0.62g and 1.0g) have been fulfilled by taking to the model. Some behavior of model is researched under earthquake, such as displacement time-history cure, force time-history cure and so on. The experiment has illustrated that the CFST tube structure is an outstanding structural style with excellent anti-seismic behavior.

To investigate the seismic behavior of joint between special-shaped concrete-filled steel tubular (CFST) column and H-section steel beam, a pseudo-static test was carried out on five specimens with scale ratio of 1:2. The investigated factors include stiffening types of steel tube (multi-cell and tensile bar) and connection types (exterior diaphragm and vertical rib). The failure modes, hysteresis curves, skeleton curves, stress distribution, and joint shear deformation of specimens were analyzed to investigate the seismic behaviors of joints. The test results showed the connections of exterior diaphragm and vertical rib have good seismic behavior and can be identified as rigid joint in the frames with bracing system according to Eurocode 3. The joint of special-shaped column with tensile bars have better seismic performance by using through vertical rib connection. Furthermore, a finite element model was established and a parametric analysis with the finite element model was conducted to investigate the influences of following parameters on the joint stiffness: width-to-thickness ratio of column steel tube, beam-to-column linear stiffness ratio, vertical rib dimensions, and axial load ratio of column. Lastly, preliminary design suggestions were proposed.

The structural behavior of an old six-span reinforced concrete arch bridge, which has been in service for about 40 years, is investigated. Field monitoring (inclusive of test of material property, static and dynamic test of the bridge) was conducted, static and dynamic responses of the bridge are obtained. Based on the primitive bridge, a scaled one-span bridge model was fabricated by organic-glasses. Both the static and dynamic tests were executed on the bridge model in the laboratory. Since the arch rib is the crucial member for the arch bridge, 7 notches were cut on both arch ribs of the bridge model to simulate different damages of the arch rib. Mechanical responses of the bridge with different damages on the arch ribs were achieved. FEM analyses were preformed on the bridge as well. Numerical results show good agreement with the experimental results.

<p>The 2016 Kumamoto Earthquake occurred in central Kyushu, Japan, on April 14th with Mw 6.2 followed by the Mw 7.0 mainshock on April 16th. These earthquakes were mainly caused by the Futagawa fault and Hinagu fault where surface ruptures extended about 34 km long. Some of the bridges located in mountain area and close to the fault were damaged due to these near‐field earthquakes. Oginosaka Bridge is one of them and is a horizontally curved bridge with longitudinal and transverse slope, which is a feature of the bridges located in mountain area. The superstructure was rotated on plan and displaced transversely at both abutments to the opposite side, and there was an evidence of the deck‐abutment pounding in longitudinal direction. In order to investigate the seismic behavior of the curved bridge, nonlinear time‐history analyses including a deck‐abutment pounding interaction were carried out. The deck‐abutment pounding interaction considered in the analyses could capture the post‐impact response of the superstructure. The near‐field ground motions were used for the analyses. The analytical results showed that the curved bridge is susceptible to the deck rotation caused by pounding in longitudinal direction at the deck end under earthquake loading.</p>

A high four-tower structure is interconnected with a long sky corridor bridge on the top floor. To reduce the earthquake responses and member forces of the towers and sky corridor bridge, a passive control strategy with a friction pendulum tuned mass damper (FPTMD) was adopted. The sky corridor bridge was as the mass of FPTMD. The connection between the towers and the sky corridor bridge was designed as flexible links, where friction pendulum bearings (FPBs) and viscous dampers were installed. Elastoplastic time-history analysis was conducted by using Perform-3D model to look into its seismic behavior under intensive seismic excitation. The optimal design of the FPTMD with varying friction coefficients and radius of friction pendulum bearing (FPB) under seismic excitations was carried out, and the seismic behavior of the structure was also investigated at the same time. Results show that, for this four-tower connected structure, the friction pendulum tuned mass damper (FPTMD) has very well effect on seismic reduction. The structure can meet the seismic resistance design requirements.

Tests of bird strike have been carried out on plate made from LY-12 Aluminium. The test was down with the projectile impacting the target perpendicularly at velocity of 40m/s, 80m/s, 120m/s respectively. The displacement-time history curves and strain-time history curves of on LY-12 Aluminium plate were measured. The good agreement of the results between two specimens in one group indicated that the results tested in the presnet paper are reliable. The dynamic response of the plate and damage modes of the bird influenced by striking velocity were analyzed. The peak value of the displacement linear enlarged with the increasing of the striking velocity. The test results in the present paper provided valuable data for aircraft design impacted by bird, and also provided abundant test datas for the numerical simulation model applied in bird striking.

The dynamic testing of large-scale structures continues to play a significant role in earthquake engineering research. The pseudo- dynamic test (PDT) is an experimental technique for simulating the earthquake response of structures and structural components in time domain. A CFST-RC pier is a modified form of CFST laced column in which CFST members are connected with RC web in longitudinal direction and with steel tube in transverse direction. For this study, a CFST -RC pier is tested under three different earthquake time histories having scaled PGA of 0.05g. From the experiment acceleration, velocity, displacement and load time histories are observed. The dynamic magnification factors for acceleration due to Chamoli, Gorkha and Wenchuan ground motions are observed as 12, 10 and 10 respectively. The frequency of the pier is found to be 1.42 Hz. The result shows that this type of pier has excellent static and earthquake resistant properties.
