With the rapid development of economy and a large number of energy consumption, the countries all over the world are faced with the depletion of fossil energy resources. Meanwhile, a large number of fossil energy extraction cause geological disasters frequently and the greenhouse effect, which lead to global warming, acid rain and other serious environmental problems. As a representative of the biomass energy, crop straws have advantages of wide distribution, large amount, low price and cleaning, which will be an ideal choice in the future. But it is hard to be efficiently used because of the special structure of crop straws. Through fermentation engineering and gene engineering, people can greatly improve the efficiency of utilization of crop straws, which offers a very promising way to make a breakthrough for energy consumption.

The research on biomass conversion technology has attracted great attention of the world along with the shortage of fossil energy resources. But the effect and efficiency of the pretreatment technique now used in biomass conversion are not so perfect. Using new steam explosion technique as a pretreatment process of biomass conversion has been reported rarely. The mechanism of steam explosion and its application effect in biomass conversion and utilization were introduced and analyzed respectively in this paper. The result showed that the semi-cellulose of steam exploded corn stalk degraded greatly to 7.57% from 25.4%, and a little cellulose and lignin degraded in this process. The saccharification rate of steam exploded green reserved corn stalk was 33.4% under the condition 2.0Mpa, 120s. It’s 1.33 times higher than the unexploded. According to the result of experimentation, the steam explosion technique should be a good pretreatment method for biomass conversion.

Currently, the world is facing environmental problems. Various human activities, including rapid development, have intensified our contribution to environmental degradation. Although development is necessary, our excessive reliance on conventional resources for development has contributed immensely to environmental damage. For example, our preference for fossil resources has been exacerbated by poor waste management systems. As the world develops, energy becomes precious for the world’s technological advancement. And as technology advances, the well-being of our environment is paramount. This concern has a solution: a paradigm shift from conventional energy resources to renewable energies, such as wind power, hydropower, biomass, biofuel, geothermal technology and, as we will focus on here, solar power.

Summary. One of the main factors in ensuring the energy security of a manufacturing enterprise is to reduce the energy intensity of manufactured products. The world's leading countries have significantly reduced energy consumption in recent years. And domestic enterprises, today, remain one of the least energy efficient in the world. A significant part of energy resources is spent due to depreciation of fixed assets and obsolete equipment. Today, the economical and efficient use of energy is one of the main issues that need to be solved. After all, the lower the level of use of energy resources, the more efficient the production, and the more competitive the products on the world market. Therefore, in order to assess the level of energy efficiency, we have systematized economic indicators that characterize the use of energy resources in the enterprise. Based on them, the structure of an integrated indicator of the level of energy efficiency of a machine-building enterprise is proposed. The structure includes four groups, which in turn include from two to four indicators. The first group of indicators characterizes the energy efficiency of the enterprise, the second - innovative activities in the direction of energy efficiency, the third - investment activities, the fourth - the socio-environmental consequences of the introduction of resource-saving technologies. An algorithm for determining the level of energy efficiency of machine-building enterprises based on the principles of systems analysis, which is based on integrated assessment, is also proposed. The implementation of the proposed algorithm will determine the level of energy efficiency of the enterprise and identify possible ways to reduce energy consumption. The proposed algorithm was tested at four machine-building enterprises of the Zaporizhia region and the obtained results were substantiated. It is established that the level of energy efficiency of the studied machine-building enterprises is very low. Which indicates the irrational use of energy and, accordingly, the very high energy intensity of the products.

AbstractToday’s society is heavily dependent on fossil energy resources and especially on oil, which is the basis of the entire transport system and beyond. The need for energy resources will increase with the passage of time, in the context in which the population of the world grows, and the fulfillment of its basic needs implies an increasing consumption of energy. The fossil energy resources are in finite quantity, and their depletion is a matter of time, even if the moment when they will disappear is quite remote, due to the discovery of new deposits, the improvement of extraction technologies, etc. The depletion of fossil energy resources can be a major challenge for all states that will have to take measures for a smooth transition to the use of new energy sources that are supposed to cover the needs of society and at the same time to have a small impact on the environment, in an attempt to reduce the pace of climate change.

By the decreasing tendency of the fossil energy resources more emphasis put on the usage of renewable energy resources. The consideration of environmental protection and the efforts of the European Union make current the widespread usage of renewable energy within biomass energy. One of the determinative trends of biomass energy is the direct combustion of biomass. Characteristically woody stocks are produced for this aim, but there is a considerable potential in several byproducts of growing herbaceous plants or of other processes. In our study three byproducts of plant production have been investigated which appeared at the harvest. The Higher Heating Values of wheat, maize and sunflower byproducts have been determined by an IKA C2000 Basic adiabatic calorimeter. According to the statistical analysis of the measured data the HHV of the byproducts are different, and these values are in a negative correlation with the amount of ash in % (R2=0.873) appeared by the combustion.

Energy resources are of great importance for human life. Today, the intensive spread of renewable energy sources (RES) in the world is the result of complex political, social, economic and natural resources that have been developing over the past 40-50 years. These processes are associated with different levels and dynamics of economic development of states, an increase in energy consumption, an uneven distribution of natural resources, an increase in the world's population and climatic changes. The energy-saving way of economic development presupposes a significant reduction per unit of product consumption of fuel, electricity and heat at the final stage of their consumption; improvement of production, transportation, transformation and storage of energy resources; improving the structure of the energy balance in the direction of replacing scarce and expensive energy resources in it with cheap and affordable renewable energy sources. The growth of production and consumption is inextricably linked with the development of society, throughout its development it is fighting to increase its energy balance. The struggle for energy, for its source, for the discovery of new ways of transforming and using it is going on continuously and at an ever-increasing pace. The development of renewable energy sources in the world is associated with limited energy resources. From renewable energy sources, the use of solar energy, wind energy, water energy, environmental energy, geothermal energy, biomass energy has been obtained. Most of all in Ukraine, biomass energy is used to obtain thermal energy. Also, the use of environmental energy has been developed due to the introduction of heat pumps in heating systems of buildings, in the technological processes of drying and cooling.
