As a result of adopting isolated bearings, it is inevitable to increase the lateral displacement of the superstructure and the chance of girder falling. However, the shear keys that just satisfies the structural design is far from meeting the requirements of displacement of isolated bridge restrictions. On account of this, given the nonlinear characteristics of bearings and the restrainer, the authors make the study on the "damping rubber with coupling collar" restrainer, and then establish isolation system model of continuous beam bridge with finite element software named Midas. Meanwhile, the effect of the restrainer on the dynamic response of isolated bridges is presented by time-history analysis, which reveals the great value in the application of limiting displacement of isolated bridge.

In order to study the influence of bearing on the anti-seismic property of medium-small span bridge, based on a continuous beam bridge 5×30 m , the dynamic effects of four kinds of system was analyzed with static analysis and nonlinear time history analysis. The study shows that PTFE slide rubber bearings set at the abutment and laminated rubber bearings set at the piers was the best combinations for seismic.

In order to better understand seismic performance of tower body structure in a square, the symbol tower finite element model is established using the finite element software ANSYS. Modal analysis is carried out and the first 3 natural frequencies and vibration modes of marking tower are obtained. By selecting 2 group natural seismic waves and a synthetic seismic wave the seismic time-history analysis of the model is performed, the symbol tower response under the earthquake action is obtained and the maximum lateral displacement and the maximum stress of symbol tower meet the standard requirements, so mark tower under earthquake are safe. These can provide reference for the same type of engineering design.

<p>In order to overcome stringent seismic requirement in the new Greater Jakarta Light Rail Transit Project, a breakthrough seismic system shall be chosen to obtain expected structural performance. This seismic system shall be designed to provide operational performance level after strong earthquake events. To achieve the criteria, seismic isolation system using Lead Rubber Bearings is chosen. With this isolation system, Greater Jakarta LRT has become the first seismically isolated infrastructure and apparently an infrastructure with the largest numbers of LRBs in one single project in Indonesia. More than 10.400 Pcs LRBs are used for the first phase of the construction and the numbers will be certainly increased in the next phase of the construction. To evaluate the structural performance, non-linear time history analysis is used. A total of 3 pair matched ground motions will be used as the input for the response history analysis. The ability of the lead rubber bearing to isolate and dissipate earthquake actions will determine its structural performance level. This will be represented by the nonlinear hysteretic curves obtained throughout the earthquake actions.</p>

Numerous recent studies have assessed the effect of P-Delta on the structures. This paper investigates the effect of P-Delta in seismic response of structures with different heights. For indicating the effect of P-Delta, nonlinear static analysis (pushover analysis) and nonlinear dynamic analysis (Time history analysis) were conducted by using finite element software. The results showing that the P-Delta has a significant impact on the structural behavior mainly on the peak amplitude of building when the height of the structures increased. In addition, comparison has been made between concrete and steel structure.

Base on the elastic-plastic analytical theory, an elastic-plastic time-history analysis of self-anchored cable-stayed suspension bridge, which engineering background is Dalian Gulf Cross-sea Bridge program, is performed by using general finite element software Midas/Civil. The material nonlinearity of structure is considered with reinforcement concrete fiber model, and distributed hinge type is adopted to simulate for plastic hinge. Compared with the results of an elastic time-history analysis, it is shown that for the structure into the elastic-plastic stage, because of the production of plastic hinge, the input seismic energy is dissipated partially, and the internal forces of structural elements are reduced. The bending moments and axial forces occur mainly in the main tower root. Furthermore, the rotation properties of the plastic hinge causes displacement increasing of certain parts of the structure, which assumes mainly the vertical displacement present on the top of main tower and the main beam. In conclusion, it is proposed that caging devices are set in the design.

Different friction bearing ratios have effects on the base isolation property of parallel composite isolation system subjected to the seismic excitation. In order to deeply investigate how the friction bearing ratio affect the isolation property, the numerical simulation was carried out by the time-history analysis method, in which the seismic response of parallel composite isolation system with different friction bearing ratios under different acceleration peak values were calculated. Then, the effects of different friction bearing ratios on the base maximum shear coefficients and base maximum displacements; the hysteretic characteristics and nonlinear properties were analyzed and discussed. The results show that, for the parallel composite isolation system, friction bearing ratio is a key factor affecting the isolation property and the nonlinear properties are tightly related to the friction bearing ratio and acceleration peak values.

A numerical model was established for a continuous beam bridge with FPS bearings. It started from Lagrange equation in dynamic mechanics. The software for its numerical solution was presented with Newmark-β method. Computation results show that efficiency of the seismic isolation system is closely related to slipping friction factor on the contacting surface and slide radius. The internal forces (shear forces) for piers exhibit a significant reduction under an optimum combination of friction factor and slide radius. For friction factor being in the range of 0.1-0.2 and slide radius 1.5m, the shear force could be decreased by more than 50%, and the drift of beam would be less than 2cm in horizontal direction and less than 0.1cm in vertical direction respectively.

In the current code of seismic design in our country,infilled wall are considered as non-structural component and do not participate in the seismic checking. In the bottom frame structure, the infilled wall of the first floor often change the number and position for using function at random,this will have unfavorable impact on the main structure. In this paper, a serious damaged bottom frame structure in high intensity area in Wenchuan earthquake is taken as the research object,and 3 comparative calculation models are designed, elasto-plastic time-history analysis is carried out on the use of ABAQUS finite element software. The calculation results show that: the first layer containing infilled with high wall content ratio will reduce the first floor damage, but causing the weak layer of the overall structure transfer from the bottom to transitional masonry story which aggravates damage, at the same time, an appropriate increase in wall content ratio can reduce the torsional response at a certain extent; nonuniform arrangement infilled wall has little effect on the floor deformation and resistance, but it will increase the torsional response of the whole structure.

A balance equation was established for RFPS which in the general position, it derived from Alembert's principle and Static theory. Then make a bridge structure with RFPS bearings as an example calculated the dynamic response equation of the isolation system that under the action of earthquake. The solving program which based on MATLAB program was presented with Newmark–β time-history analysis method. Analysis and calculation results show that the isolation effect of RFPS bearings was very evident. Make an appropriate selection on slide radius and the rolling friction coefficient values can make the internal forces (shear forces) for piers exhibit a significant reduction to a great extent. Besides, the drift of longitudinal beam in horizontal direction and vertical direction would be both in the reasonable bounds.

The finite element software ABAQUS is used to establish the seismic time-history analysis model of the utility tunnel joints. The viscoelastic boundary is employed to input the seismic wave through the equivalent nodal force. Considering the nonlinearity of the soil and concrete materials, the internal force of the cross-shaped utility tunnel is calculated, and the influence effect and influence range of the cross joints of the utility tunnel are also studied. Studies have shown that the internal forces near the cross joints increase significantly. The research has certain reference value for the seismic design of the cross joints in utility tunnel.
