A new train-induced vibration isolation measure of rubber-concrete alternating superposition in-filled trench is presented in this paper. For analyzing the vibration isolation effect of the new measure, this paper establishes a 2.5D train-track-layered foundation-filled trench model to analyze the dynamics of track and layered foundation with the in-filled trench. The correctness of the model is verified by using the measured data of the Sweden X-2000 high-speed train. The vibration isolation effect of the rubber-concrete alternating superposition in-filled trench is calculated by using the actual soft soil foundation parameters of the X-2000 high-speed train, and the vibration isolation effect is also compared with that of the empty trench, rubber in-filled trench, and concrete in-filled trench. The results show that the vibration isolation effect of the rubber-concrete alternating superposition in-filled trench proposed in this paper is better than that of the C30 concrete in-filled trench, especially the impact on displacement. Compared with low-frequency vibrations generated by the lower train speed, the rubber-concrete alternating superposition in-filled trench has a better vibration isolation effect on high-frequency vibrations caused by higher-speed trains. The rubber-concrete alternately superposition in-filled trench has the frequency band characteristics of elastic waves. Elastic waves in the passband frequency range can propagate without attenuation, while the elastic waves in the forbidden frequency range will be filtered out.

Abstract With the improvement of machining accuracy, external low frequency vibration has become one of the most important factors affecting the performance of equipment. The theory of quasi-zero stiffness vibration isolation shows favorable low frequency vibration isolation effect. Based on our previous research on the structure of magnetic-air hybrid quasi-zero stiffness vibration isolation system, the nonlinear mechanical expression of positive and negative stiffness structure has been analyzed in this paper, to improve application of the system and provide a theoretical basis for sequential studies of active control. To analyze the judgement criterion of the quasi-zero stiffness, an accurate mechanical model was first established. Then, the dynamical model based on external low frequency vibration was developed, to investigate the stability and natural frequency and deduce the amplitude frequency characteristics and displacement transfer rate. Finally, we carried out simulation and experimental analysis to verify the stiffness of high static and low dynamic and the low frequency vibration isolation effect of the vibration isolation system.

Endophytes associated with halophytes may contribute to the host’s adaptation to adverse environmental conditions through improving their stress tolerance and protecting them from various soil-borne pathogens. In this study, the diversity and antifungal activity of endophytic bacteria associated with halophytic samples growing on the shore of the western Aral Sea in Uzbekistan were investigated. The endophytic bacteria were isolated from the nine halophytic samples by using the culture-dependent method and identified according to their 16S rRNA gene sequences. The screening of endophytic bacterial isolates with the ability to inhibit pathogenic fungi was completed by the plate confrontation method. A total of 289 endophytic bacterial isolates were isolated from the nine halophytes, and they belong to Firmicutes, Actinobacteria, and Proteobacteria. The predominant genera of the isolated endophytic bacteria were Bacillus, Staphylococcus, and Streptomyces, accounting for 38.5%, 24.7%, and 12.5% of the total number of isolates, respectively. The comparative analysis indicated that the isolation effect was better for the sample S8, with the highest diversity and richness indices. The diversity index of the sample S7 was the lowest, while the richness index of samples S5 and S6 was the lowest. By comparing the isolation effect of 12 different media, it was found that the M7 medium had the best performance for isolating endophytic bacteria associated with halophytes in the western Aral Sea Basin. In addition, the results showed that only a few isolates have the ability to produce ex-enzymes, and eight and four endophytic bacterial isolates exhibited significant inhibition to the growth of Valsa mali and Verticillium dahlia, respectively. The results of this study indicated that halophytes are an important source for the selection of microbes that may protect plant from soil-borne pathogens.

The vehicle-mounted equipment is easy to be disturbed by external vibration excitations during transportation, which is harmful to the measurement accuracy and performance of the equipment. Aiming at the vibration isolation of the vehicle-mounted equipment, a semiactively controlled quasi-zero stiffness (QZS) vibration isolator with positive and negative stiffness is proposed. The vertical spring is paralleled with a magnetorheological (MR) damper, and the semiactive on-off control scheme is adopted to control the vibration. The analytical expression of the isolator’s displacement transmissibility is derived via the averaging method. Then, the vibration isolation performance under different road excitations and different driving speeds is simulated and compared with the uncontrolled passive QZS vibration isolator. In addition, the mechanical structure of the semiactive QZS isolator is designed and manufactured, and the test system is built by LabVIEW software and PXI embedded system. The isolation effect of the semiactive QZS isolator is verified through test data. It is found that the proposed semiactive QZS isolator shows excellent vibration isolation performance under various road excitations, while the passive QZS isolator is effective only under harmonic excitations. The vertical acceleration of vehicle-mounted device can be decreased over 70% after isolation, and the vibration isolation effect is remarkable. The design idea and research results of the semiactive QZS isolator may provide theoretical guidance and engineering reference for vibration isolation.

Angiostrongylus cantonensis is an emerging zoonotic nematode recognized as the leading cause of eosinophilic meningitis in the word. After its discovery in China, it was recorded in 30 countries worldwide. Recently, it has expanded to new areas such as South America and it has been recently found in the Atlantic island of Tenerife (Canary Islands). In order to characterize the distribution of A. cantonensis in the Canary Islands, the lungs of 1462 rodents were sampled in eight islands of the archipelago over 13 years and were then analyzed for A. cantonensis. Remarkably, the parasite was detected only in Tenerife, in Rattus rattus (19.7%) and Rattus norvegicus (7.14%). They were concretely in the northern part of the island, which had a warmer and more humid climate than the south and main cities. The absence of this nematode in other islands with similar environmental conditions could be explained by an isolation effect or by a recent introduction of the parasite in the islands. Besides, the presence in Tenerife of the most invasive lineage of A. cantonensis reinforced the hypothesis of a recent introduction on this island. This study highlights the need to implement control measures to prevent the expansion to other areas in order to avoid the transmission to humans and other animals.

Adaptive negative stiffness device is one of the promising seismic protection devices since it can generate seismic isolation effect through negative stiffness when it is mostly needed and achieve similar vibration mitigation as a semi-active control device. However, the adaptive negative stiffness device generally combined with linear viscous damping underpins the drawback of degrading the vibration isolation effect during the high-frequency region. In this paper, a modified adaptive negative stiffness device (MANSD) with the ability to provide both lateral negative stiffness and nonlinear damping by configuring linear springs and linear viscous dampers is proposed to address the above issue. The negative stiffness and nonlinear damping are realised through a linkage mechanism. The fundamentals and dynamic characteristics of a SDOF system with such a device are analyzed and formulated using the Harmonic Balance Method, with a special focus on the amplitude–frequency response and transmissibility of the system. The system with damping nonlinearity as a function of displacement and velocity has been proven to have attractive advantages over linear damping in reducing the transmissibility in the resonance region without increasing that in the high-frequency region. The effect of nonlinear damping on suppressing displacement and acceleration responses is numerically verified under different sinusoidal excitations and earthquakes with different intensities. Compared with linear damping, the MANSD with nonlinear damping could achieve additional reductions on displacement and acceleration under scaled earthquakes, especially intensive earthquakes.
