For the first time, a new kind of polycarboxylic acid high-performance water reducer, with ultra-high water reducing performance, was prepared through one-step polymerization, using new type polyether TPEG and acrylic acid as raw materials. Maximum water-reducing ratio of TPC may reach 50%. The most distinguishing characteristic of TPC was its reaction character at normal temperatures (30°C), which was of great practical significance for energy conservation and pollution reduction.

Keywords: amino acids; common pussytoes; yacon; stevia; golden marigolds; leaves; herb; aster family; high performance liquid chromatography. For the first time the qualitative composition was studied and the quantitative content of amino acids in the herb of common pussytoes, yacon leaves, stevia leaves, herb of golden marigolds was determined by HPLC. 17 bound and 16 free amino acids were identified in the herb of common pussytoes, in the herb of golden marigolds, yacon leaves and stevia leaves – 12 and 5, 17 and 11 and 16 and 14 amino acids, respectively. The highest content of the sum of essential and substitute amino acids is contained in the leaves of stevia; the lowest content of the sum of essential amino – in the herb of golden marigolds, the sum of essential amino acids – in the herb of common pussytoes.

The one-step synthesis of high-quality graphene derivatives via CVD process has gained considerable importance nowadays for high-performance electronics and sensors. However, the use of harsh chemicals, high temperature, sensitivity, and the problem of separation of graphene from the substrate, motivated the one-step synthesis of graphene from a non-graphitic precursor, bypassing the use of graphite. In this paper, we have reported for the first time, the synthesis of graphene nanosheets from sugarcane bagasse at the normal atmospheric condition in a single step, avoiding the formation of GO. Here, the pyrolysis of sugarcane bagasse was carried out in the temperature range of 250-450o C in the presence of sodium hydroxide. The results suggested that even the low temperature (250–450o C) facilitated the development of graphitic planes via condensation and aromatization of the glucose monomers present in the precursor. The XRD pattern showed 2θ at around 25o in each case, which confirmed the formation of graphene instead of GO. The FESEM, TEM, and EDX analysis proved the formation of few-layer nanosheets of graphene from carbon-rich waste precursors in a single step.

A simple, fast method of high-performance liquid chromatography for the determination and quantification of arbutin and hydroquinone in many different raw materials was developed and validated. The optimum conditions for the separation and detection of these two constituents were achieved on a LiChro-CARD 125-4 Superspher®100 RP-18 column with the water-methanol (gradient elution) mobile phase and recorded at 289 nm. The purities of peaks were verified by PDA analysis of impurities. The results of validation have shown that the HPLC method is stable and accurate for the simultaneous determination of arbutin and hydroquinone in extracts from various plants. The developed method gave a good sensitivity (LOD 1µg/ml for arbutin and 0.49 µg/ml for hydroquinone) with linearity R2 >0.9993 (for both). The relative standard deviation of the method was less than 2.53% for intra-day assays and 3.23% for inter-day assay, the accuracy of the recovery test ranged from 98.96% to 106.4%. This method was used in comparative qualitative analysis of arbutin and hydroquinone in 16 different raw materials from families Lamiaceae, Ericacaeae, Saxifragaceae, Rosaceae. The content of arbutin in B. ciliata, B. cordifolia and Ledum palustre was examined for the first time.

Abstract Four caffeoylquinic acid derivatives from the Gunura procumbens flowers (GPF) were successfully isolated and purified by high-speed counter-current chromatography (HSCCC). Ethyl acetate–methanol–water (3:1:3, v/v/v) was the optimum biphasic solvent system, which was selected by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and run on a preparative scale where the lower aqueous phase was used as the mobile phase with a head-to-tail elution mode. Chlorogenic acid (3.83 mg), Isochlorogenic acid A (6.51 mg), Isochlorogenic acid B (4.38 mg) and Isochlorogenic acid C (4.47 mg) were obtained for the first time in an one-step HSCCC separation from 800 mg of the crude extracts. The purities of four compounds were determined to be >95% by HPLC. Chemical structures of each isolated compounds were identified by nuclear magnetic resonance and electrospray ionization mass spectrometry methods. It is worth noting that all the four compounds were isolated here for the first time from GPF and this work confirms the effectiveness of HSCCC for the separation of compounds contained in complex samples, and provides a foundation for further exploitation of G. procumbens.

Purpose: organize and analyze the legacy of a little-known artist, make an attempt to collect biographical data, trace the relationship of creative principles with world trends in graphic design of that period. Methodology. Historical-comparative and art-scientific methods of analysis were used for the research. Results. During the 1920s and 1930s, Ukrainian magazine graphics underwent a final transformation from the aesthetics of modern and eclecticism to the style of constructivism, which called for the work of masters of a new type of graphic thinking, such as Yuriy Kryvdin. The investigation for the first time analyzed the activities of a little-known representative of Ukrainian constructivism – Yuriy Kryvdin, who worked in the field of magazine graphics and layout, collage, book design. The influences of world tendencies of graphic design on creativity of the master, typology of imitation are investigated. Samples of the artist's autographs were collected and the publishing spheres to which the artist made efforts were systematized. His literary activity and its connection with artistic creativity are briefly reviewed. Scientific novelty. As for Kryvdin, there was no art criticism in the professional literature. For the first time, the sources that influenced the creative style of the master are highlighted, as well as the spheres of his activity are systematized. Practical significance. With the development of Ukrainian culture in the paradigm of an independent state, the importance of opening the little-known pages of the formation of national design, which gave the foundation of modern art.

Abstract In this paper the new type of fault-tolerant non-blocking photonic switch is presented for the first time. The proposed switch architecture is based on quasi-complete graph topology which use provides non-blocking and fault-tolerant switching process. The new two-stage switch architecture uses the stage of dual photonic switches and pairs of photonic demultiplexers and multiplexers which have been described in detail by authors in their previous works. Depending on the number of different backup connections, the two types of fault-tolerant pho-tonic switches are considered in this paper: single-channel fault-tolerant photonic switch and dual-channel fault-tolerant photonic switch. The mathematical expressions for calculating the switching and fiber complexities of these two types of fault-tolerant photonic switches are also presented here for the first time. The numerical calculations shown that the increasing the reliability of the fault-tolerant photonic switches twice leads to an increasing their switching complexity in 1.4 times and fiber complexity in 1.8 times.
