The effects of additive TN1, power waveforms (full wave, half wave, and direct current), current density and pH on the throwing power of Ni-Co alloy electroforming solution had been investigated by orthogonal tests; and the effects of plating parameters on current distribution of cathode by ANSYS numerical simulation were discussed. The results of orthogonal test showed that the additive TN1 had the largest effect on the throwing power; the power waveform was secondary; the current density and pH had minor effect. The biggest throwing power was 78% when the TN1 was 15g/L and waveform was full wave. Numerical simulation showed that the cathode shape and shield had effect on current distribution; reasonable cathode shape and application of shield could improve the current distribution. The thickness uniformity of part could be up to 92% by optimizing of electrolyte, adjusting the electroforming technics and applying second electroplating.

The tar decomposition of low-pressure ejection type burner was researched. The burner used software to simulate and analyse impact of the nozzle diameter d, the gas flow rate V and the distance of the nozzle to the wall L on tar cracking. The orthogonal test were used for design parameters d, V and L, the optimization values of these three parameters were carried out, and experimental method was used for test the numerical simulation results. Numerical simulation and experimental results showed that the greatest impact on tar cracking is the nozzle diameter d, the minor effect is the distance of the nozzle to the wall L and the weakest effect is the gas flow rate V, and when the nozzle diameter d=4 mm, the distance L=18 mm and the gas flow rate V=0.10 m3/h, the tar cracking is the most efficiency.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to investigate the synergism of convection, current density distribution and additives by numerical simulation and electrochemical experiments for good throwing power (TP) of copper electro-deposition in printed circuit board (PCB) manufacture. Design/methodology/approach The flow field of THs and current density distribution on various AR of THs are calculated and analyzed. Meanwhile, corresponding simulation is used to study the performance of plating electrolytes on TP. Two electrochemical parameters, overpotential (η) and potential difference (△η), are chosen to evaluate the electrochemical properties of different plating solutions by galvanostatic measurement and potentiodynamic cathode polarization at different rotating speeds. Findings By combining both the results of simulation and practical plating, these two electrochemical properties of electrolytes exhibit significant impact to the system at varied conditions. Especially, the electrolyte with higher polarizing η and △η values lead to the elevated TP for AR of more than 2:1. Originality/value The harring cell model is built as a bridge between the theoretical and experimental study for control of uniformity of plating THs in PCB manufacturing. This dual-parameter evaluation is validated to be a promising decisive method to guide the THs plating with particular AR in industry.

Marine centrifugal pumps are mostly used on board ship, for transferring liquid from one point to another. Based on the combination of orthogonal testing and numerical simulation, this paper optimizes the structure of a drainage trough for a typical low-specific speed centrifugal pump, determines the priority of the various geometric factors of the drainage trough on the pump performance, and obtains the optimal impeller drainage trough scheme. The influence of drainage tank structure on the internal flow of a low-specific speed centrifugal pump is also analyzed. First, based on the experimental validation of the initial model, it is determined that the numerical simulation method used in this paper is highly accurate in predicting the performance of low-specific speed centrifugal pumps. Secondly, based on the three factors and four levels of the impeller drainage trough in the orthogonal test, the orthogonal test plan is determined and the orthogonal test results are analyzed. This work found that slit diameter and slit width have a large impact on the performance of low-specific speed centrifugal pumps, while long and short vane lap lengths have less impact. Finally, we compared the internal flow distribution between the initial model and the optimized model, and found that the slit structure could effectively reduce the pressure difference between the suction side and the pressure side of the blade. By weakening the large-scale vortex in the flow path and reducing the hydraulic losses, the drainage trough impellers obtained based on orthogonal tests can significantly improve the hydraulic efficiency of low-specific speed centrifugal pumps.

Abstract Propagation of a two-dimensional spatio-temporal electromagnetic beam wave is analysed. In parabolic (paraxial) approximation the exact analytical results for a spatio-temporal Gaussian impulse can be obtained. For solution of the full wave equation the numerical simulation has to be used. The various facets of this simulation are discussed here.

Anew method for the determination of the ability of an electrolyte to distribute uniformly current density in an electrochemical cell is proposed. It is based on the comparison of the current in cells in which the electrode edges touch the cell side walls with the current in cells with different electrode edge ? cell side wall distances. The effects of cell geometry process parameters and current density are discussed and illustrated using the results presented in the previous papers from this series.
