The effects of ultrasonic on bleaching of cane fiber were discussed in this paper. Ultrasonic frequency, ultrasonic time, the concentration of the hydrogen peroxide, temperature and pH value were optimized by the single factor experiment. The bleached fiber was analyzed by X-ray diffraction and Scanning electron microscope. The results showed the optimum processing parameters as follows: ultrasonic time 40 min, ultrasonic frequency 33 KHz (first 20 min); 55 KHz (second 20 min), temperature 90°C and the concentration of the hydrogen 30 ml/L, pH value 10.5. In the above conditions, the best bleaching effect was achieved.

Tributyl borate was first adopted for the introduction of boron in the preparation of bioactive borosilicate xerogel by sol-gel method. The xerogel reacted continuously in 0.25M K2HPO4 solution with a starting pH value of 7.0 at 37 °C for 1day. The structural, morphologies and compositional changes resulting from the conversion were characterized using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The results indicated that speed of formation of HA was cut way back on the time with the addition of boron and the induction period for the HA nucleation on the surface of the borosilicate xerogel was short than 1 days. The conversion mechanism of the borosilicate xerogels to hydroxyapaptite was also discussed.

N-doped Titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanotube arrays were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM),X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) to analyse its surface morphology, crystal types and the doping behavior of nitrogen. The material was used as electrode for photoelectrocatalytic degradation of hexachlorobenzen under irradiation of simulated sunlight. The effects of photocatalysis, electrocatalysis, photoelectrocatalysis, the concentration of Na2SO4 and pH value on degradation of HCB were investigated.

ZnO nanorods were prepared by heat treating of aqueous zinc acetate treated with organic of PVA. The products were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The results indicate that the as synthesized ZnO are hexagonal wurtzite nanorods with the maximum aspect ratio of 10:1 (100 nm in diameter and about 1 μm in length). The morphology of nanorods was formed by the regulation of appropriate organic under a pH value of 8.5. The growth mechanism of ZnO is proposed that the nanocrystals grow along a preferred direction in a growth tunnel provided by organics.

In this paper, a preparation method concerning ceramic moulds with zirconia coating used for the investment casting of TiAl alloys has been described. The processing technology of ceramic moulds was verified successfully using the ceramic moulds with zirconia coating prepared by recommended processing parameters. Interfacial reactions between ceramic moulds and TiAl alloys examined by OM (optical microscope), SEM (scanning electron microscopy) and XRD (X-ray diffraction) are presented in this paper. The results reveal that the thickness of interfacial reactions layer was about 20 μm.

Ni/Al layered double hydroxide (LDH) nanorods were successfully synthesized by the hydrothermal reaction. The crystal structure of the products was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The morphology of the products was observed using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and field emission scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The influences of reaction time and pH value on the morphology of the Ni/Al LDHs were investigated. The result showed that the well-crystallized nanorods of Ni/Al LDHs could be obtained when the pH value was about 10.0 with a long reaction time (12–18 h) at 180°C.

In this paper, we report that the experimental results of fabricated diamond-metal composite film. Electrotyping method was used to deposit the thick film. During the deposition, low internal stress electrolytic solution, the electric current density of cathode, PH value, temperature, the distance between cathode and anode, the pretreatment of motherboard cathode were selected simultaneously. It was found that stirring strongly affected the quality of the film. Especially stirring velocity affected the distribution of diamond grains. Scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray photoemission spectroscopy (XPS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were used to measure the surface morphology, the crystal microstructure, diamond grains distribution and the chemical environment of the film.

The single-crystalline nanobelts of monoclinic Ni(SO4)0.3(OH)1.4have been synthesized on a large scale through a convenient, low-temperature hydrothermal method. The influences of reaction time, pH value, concentration of ammonia on the phase and shape evolution of nanobelts were systematically investigated. It was found that the initial layered Ni(OH)2 thin films as intermediates could be split and converted into the monoclinic Ni(SO4)0.3(OH)1.4nanobelts through SO42-ions inserting process. The formation mechanism of nanobelts involved in the inserting process and the corresponding drive force have been investigated in detail by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), FT-IR spectra and pH value analyses. In addition to, we have also found that the ammonia molecules acted as both weak base and ligand agent was crucial to the controlling nucleation and inserting process in the formation process of nanobelts.

In this work, tungsten thin films were deposited on different substrates by magnetron sputtering and some of the films were then annealed at 1000°C for 1 hour in order to investigate the influence of different processing parameters on morphology and microstructure of films. Scanning electron microscope and x-ray diffraction were used to detect the morphology and microstructure of films. Under the same conditions, the thin films on different substrates showed different preferred grain orientations although the morphologies were similar. After thermal treatment, the morphology of films changed significantly and the total stress parallel to film surfaces dropped off sharply.

The Cu-30wt%Ag alloy nanopowders are prepared by induction plasma technology, and the nanopowder is successfully coated by terpineol (C10H18O). The morphology, phase composition and oxidation resistance of nanopowders are characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction and thermogravimetric (TG) analysis. When the suitable processing parameters of induction plasma are chosen, the spherical morphology and average diameter about 89 nm of Cu-30wt%Ag nanopowders are obtained. Meanwhile, the Cu-Ag alloy nanopowders which are coated by terpineol are free from oxidation when temperature is below 280°C.

Mg/Al layered double hydroxide (LDH) was successfully synthesized at different pHs values. The Mg/AL LDH was well characterized by X-Ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared analysis. The morphology of the LDH was observed using Scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The influence of pH values on the morphology of the Mg/Al LDHs were studied. The result showed that the well-synthesized Mg/Al LDHs could be obtained when the pH value was about 10.0 at room temperature.DOI: http://doi.dx.org/10.5564/mjc.v15i0.319 Mongolian Journal of Chemistry 15 (41), 2014, p36-39
