◽
The design and development of a low cost, portable magnetic Barkhausen Noise Sensor is presented. The health of ferromagnetic objects can be monitored by analyzing MBN response. Comparative estimations of the location and size of any microstructural defects or previously applied tensions can be obtained. Each stage of the sensor is presented along with explanatory circuit diagrams, and descriptions of the magnetization and the receiving coil are given. The device can perform accurate, non-destructive measurements of steel magnetic properties, and has an advantage over currently available commercial sensors in terms of both cost and size.
