This article presents the results of experimental obtaining together with tests of modifications of the granulated sorption aluminosilicate-based material. The chemical composition, structure and morphology of a surface of the obtained modifications of sorbents from clay have been explored. Through a complex of modern physical methods it is established that porosity and a specific surface of clay-based sorbents increased as a result of modification. Pilot studies have shown higher efficiency of new aluminosilicate-based sorbents in comparison with absorbent carbon during sorption of such model pollutants as methylene blue, phenol and ions of heavy metals. Modifications of sorbent which can be effectively used for post treatment of wastewater are revealed.

The presence of iodine and iodide ions in tetracyanonickelates inclusion compounds with the general formula Ni(B)mNi(CN)4 . n H2O (B = NH3 or ethylenediamine) changes the properties of these compounds. High frequency conductance measurements in the range of 10 - 105 Hz show that the products with ethylenediamine ligands have a higher electrical conductivity than those with NH3 ligands. The differences in the electrical properties between the compounds studied are mainly caused by chemical composition, structure and morphology.

Some of the most interesting compounds from both technological and a scientific viewpoint can be found within the B–C–N composition triangle. Despite all the attention that some phases on the vertices and sides of the triangle have attracted, few works have focused inside the triangle itself. A laser-assisted chemical vapor deposition system was used to deposit B–C–N phases over fused quartz substrates. Two sets of gaseous precursors were used, namely B2H6 + NH3 + C2H4 and B2H6 + (CH3)2NH. The coatings were characterized regarding chemical composition, structure, and morphology. Hardness measurements were also carried out with a depth-sensing indentation instrument. It was found that depending on the gas phase, different regions of the BCN solid composition triangle are accessed. Coatings ranging from pure h-BN to pure B4C were obtained, as well as mixtures of these with BxCyNz compounds.

AbstractBiomass of algae is a very potent adsorbent for absorbing aqueous waste containing heavy metals and organic dyes. This study purposes to confirm the ability of adsorbents from green algae Nannochloropsis sp. modified with silica (ASN) and followed by coating magnetite particles (ASN-MPs) to absorb simultaneously the mixture of Methylene Blue (ME) and Cu(II) cations in aqueous solution. Simultaneous sorption of ME and Cu(II) cations to ASN and ASN-MPs was carried out by the batch method with the interaction pH condition 7, contact time 90 min, and initial concentrations of ME and Cu(II) cations (0.1–1.0 mM). Based on adsorption data, Cu(II) cations have a greater adsorption rate and capacity (qm) compared to ME at the same contact time and initial concentration. The adsorption capacity (qm) values of the bi-component ME and Cu(II) cation mixture in ASN and ASN-MPs were 1.39 × 10− 1 and 5.32 × 10− 1 mmol g− 1, respectively, with the binary Langmuir adsorption isotherm constant for Cu(II) cations greater than ME. Modified adsorbent from algae Nannochloropsis sp. with silica matrix and magnetite particle coating is an adsorbent that has a high effectiveness in the collective sorption of ME and Cu(II) cations. Therefore, these adsorbents can be used for the adsorption of cation mixtures of heavy metals and organic dyes that are cationic in solution.

Miscanthus is a highly productive, rhizomatous, C4 perennial grass that should be considered as an excellent active carbon precursor. This paper compares the charcoal characterization and chemical composition between M. sinensis and M. floridulus. Species differed in water content, hot water extract, 1% NaOH extract, organic solvent extract, cellulose, lignin and ash. Carbonization temperatures have effects on charcoal yields of Miscanthus, which ranged from 23.5% to 48.0% for M. sinensis and 11.3% to 37.2% for M. floridulus. Water content, charcoal density, pH value, and specific surface area of charcoal characterization varied between two species of Miscanthus. The specific surface area increased with the increase of carbonization temperature. The highest specific surface area of M. sinensis and M. floridulus was 351.74 m2g−1and 352.74 m2g−1, respectively, when the carbonization temperature was 800°C.

The paper presents the studies’ results of chemical composition, structure, and physico-mechanical properties of high-calcium ashes from the Kansk-Achinsk coals (2017-2019 selection). It was found that ash has a complex poly-mineral composition and contains hydraulically active minerals and oxides of СаОfr, β-C2S, CA, C3A, C4AF, C2F, CaSO4. According to the content of CaOfr, MgO does not meet standards’ requirements. The uniformity of the volume change is maintained by the composition with 50% of cement. The structure and hardening kinetics of ash and ash-cement stone compositions, obtained from the test of normal density, were analyzed. It was established that the hardening of compositions with ash from the Kansk-Achinsk coals was largely influenced by ash minerals. An equivalent amount of cement in composite binders cannot be replaced. In order to obtain a positive effect, compositions with ash instead cement of no more than 30% and a part of fine aggregate, without exceeding the ratio of ash: cement = 1: 1, should be used.
