The paper presents research results on the use of silica rock in the production of lining ceramic brick. The analysis of clay samples showed that they are non-sintering raw materials. The dependence is obtained between the firing temperature and the average density of ceramic brick. It is shown that the firing temperature depends on the material composition with the product water absorption. The relationship is detected between the firing shrinkage, density, and water absorption. The experiments on silica rock sintering show that the ceramic brick made therefrom has a low average density, increased firing shrinkage, porosity and water absorption. Silica raw materials can be used in the ceramic brick production.

Industrial transition to a totally new level of resources and energy saving necessitates improving the technical level of building materials manufacturing, growing their raw materials base, the assortment, enhancing the quality of manufactured products, cutting their cost price. It requires, first of all, carrying out more detailed research in properties of clay and clay loams, and selecting optimal additives for pottery works. Such disadvantages of clays as burning sensitivity, low compression resistance and flexural strength in a burnt state, low frost resistance cause the impossibility of their application without corrective additives. It is quite difficult to find an additive which can solve all the technological problems mentioned above. This paper provides the development of mixture "clay – electro-melting slag" for ceramic brick, moreover, addition of a steel-smelting slag in the fusion mixture results in the change in mixing water content of ceramic masses, strength and coloration of ceramic samples.

during the implementation of the program to restore the housing stock of the Chechen Republic, as well as during the planned demolition of dilapidated housing, significant volumes of technogenic raw materials were generated, in particular, large volumes of brick and concrete scrap. Enterprises for the production of building materials and products also produce significant volumes of production defects, which accumulate over the years at landfills. Ceramic broken brick and broken brick dropouts are used to fill the roadbed, and the main part still goes to the dump and landfill, which is also an environmental problem. One of the promising ways to use dropouts and broken brick itself is to use them as secondary aggregates in concrete and mortars. This article discusses the issues of improving the quality of ceramic concrete mixtures, choosing the optimal composition and technology for mixing concrete mixtures using dust fractions of dropouts for crushing ceramic brick bricks

The paper presents the results of analyzing the prospects of using clay raw materials in a composition with metallurgical slags for the production of ceramic products. The results of the analysis of the chemical and mineralogical properties of clay from the Khalilovsky deposit in the Orenburg region and nickel slags from the dumps of the South Ural Nickel Combine are presented. The studies were carried out using X-ray fluorescence and differential thermal analysis methods. The article presents the performed X-ray and derivatograms of slag and clay and the features of the experimental types of raw materials revealed during their analysis. The connection between the chemical and mineralogical compositions of the experimental clay and slags on the technological properties of finished ceramic products has been theoretically established. The use of XRF and DTA to study the characteristics of plastic and non-plastic raw materials made it possible at the first stages of the experiment to reject materials that were unsatisfactory in properties for the production of ceramic products, which contributes to the optimization of experiments, rational consumption of costs of newly mined clay raw materials.

This study focuses on the identification of an appropriate composition of raw materials for ceramic products from commonly available red clays in Sri Lanka. The raw materials were characterized in terms of particle size distribution, chemical and mineralogical composition. Different formulations of samples were prepared, and the linear shrinkage, water absorption and flexural strength of the final products were measured. Microstructures of fired samples were observed under a scanning electron microscope. The best quality product was obtained when the sample contains a high amount of illite clay in a mixture of 80 wt.% clay-silt and 20 wt.% sand. The presence of higher concentrations of the metal oxides Na2O, K2O and Fe2O3 (total ~21 wt.%) in the clay-silt fraction of samples has resulted in obtaining higher technological properties of the body. The flexural strength and the water absorption of the product are 26.82 MPa and 6.51% respectively. If the raw materials contain lower amounts of the oxides Na2O, K2O and Fe2O3, higher amounts of clay-silt fraction (up to 90 wt.%) must be added to obtain an optimum quality product.

In order to prepare energy saving and environmental protection building materials, a new kind of concrete was made by the combination of corn stalks which is the main crop in northern China, natural pumice resources and cement. Corn stalks and pumice are all lightweight material with open pores and large water absorption; therefore they must be pretreated before preparing concrete by blocking holes to reduce the amount of grout. The raw materials used in the experiments are lightweight materials; it is advisable to adopt the pressure vibration molding process to reduce aggregate stratification.

The environmental situation in Russia is characterized by a high level of anthropogenic impact on the environment, significant environmental consequences of past economic activity. Their disposal and storage costs 8-10 % of the cost of products, so the disposal of such waste is of paramount importance.Due to the involvement of multi-tonnage waste in the production of ceramic materials of mass consumption, which include wall materials, it is possible to radically change the parameters of the raw material base of Russia, which also helps to reduce environmental tensions in the regions. The reduction of reserves of traditional natural raw materials makes us look for new ways to replace it with different types of waste. The experience of advanced foreign countries has shown the technical feasibility of this area and the use of more as a tool to protect the environment from pollution. However, almost all basic building materials can be made from waste or from waste in combination with natural raw materials. On the basis of fusible clay and waste basalt-gabbro-norite charge, which is formed in the production of mineral wool obtained ceramic brick with high physical and mechanical properties, brick grade M150 and above. The absolute advantage of the use of multi-tonnage waste is the unloading of the environmental situation, which contributes to the solution of industrial waste disposal and environmental protection. Innovative proposals for the use of waste from the production of mineral wool in the production of wall materials - ceramic bricks based on fusible clay, the novelty of which is confirmed by patents of the Russian Federation.
