In this article a behavioural model of retail location is discussed which differs from established models in two respects. Firstly, in the behavioural model the demand for retail outlets is emphasized rather than the supply of retail outlets. Secondly, psychological and sociological constructs are used to help explain store selection behaviour. The behavioural model differs from established location theory in that an attempt is made to study the act of shopping in relation to other human activities. The basic postulate of the model is that people are constrained in their shopping behaviour. People can then be rated on a scale of constraints, which can be used to predict store selection behaviour.

Purpose – Marketers try to influence food shopping behaviour of children through various in-store food promotional strategies (FPS). These in-store FPS comprise of attractive packaging, accessibility, availability of foods in wide varieties and presence of helpful and friendly sales personnel. However, little is known about how children buy and the extent to which these marketing strategies are successful. Hence, the purpose of this paper is to investigate food shopping behaviour of children in retail stores and to study the effectiveness of in-store FPS and demographic factors (age and gender of child and monthly family income) on food shopping behaviour of children. Design/methodology/approach – Data have been collected from 473 mothers of children in age category four to 11 years. Data have been analysed through descriptive statistics (means and standard deviations), bivariate correlations, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis and hierarchical regression analysis. Findings – The study explores and validates four factor structure of food shopping behaviour of children in retail stores in Indian settings. These factors include children’s active assessment of foods, impact of availability and variety on children’s purchases, influence of TV food ads on children’s purchases and influence of packaging on children’s food purchases. Further, the findings also reveal that in-store FPS are truly effective in influencing food shopping behaviour of children. Practical implications – Marketers may highlight packaging attributes in food advertisements as they can help escalate food purchase requests of children in retail stores. In addition to this, food advertising is strongly associated with assessment of foods in retail stores and looking for availability of advertised foods in retail stores. This suggests that food advertising as a medium of communication should not be ignored. However, sales personnel can also be used more effectively as they are seen to help children in identifying availability and variety of foods in retail stores. Originality/value – As no such study has been conducted so far (to the best of researcher’s knowledge), this study potentially helps in bridging gaps in literature.

ABSTRACT The knowledge about genetic diversity of jatropha crop is important for genetic conservation resources and breeding of this species. The aim of this study was to evaluate the genetic diversity and performance of jatropha clones through morphological characterization to selection of clonal varieties for biofuels production. The clones were obtained through shoot cuttings from previous selection in a population of half-sibs progenies. The morphoagronomic analyses of clones was carried out at 180 days after transplantation and were evaluated plant height, stem diameter, number of primary branches and number of secondary branches, number of bunches and number of fruits per plant. Evaluating clones performance, significant results were found for the number of secondary branches. About analysis of genetic diversity, the measures of dissimilarity genetic varied from 0.62 to 13.11, this way, the UFRBPR14 and UFRBPR15 clones were more divergent. The Tocher method was efficient to verify formation of four groups. The characteristics that most contributed to the divergence among clones were branches number, height and number of bunches, and, stem diameter had lower contribution. The jatropha clones differed only in the secondary branches number and multivariate analysis showed divergence among the jatropha clones with formation of four groups. Also, branches number, plant height and number of bunches were characteristic that contributed to genetic divergence.

<span lang="IN">Determinant of the selection of long-term contraceptive methods on family planning acceptors in Pedamaran community health center. </span><span lang="EN"> The population problem faced by Indonesia is a large population with a low quality of life. Uncontrolled population rate will cause baby booming so information needs to be disseminated about the benefits of family planning (FP). Long-term contraceptive method has a high level of effectiveness and can reduce the rate of population growth. </span><span lang="EN">This study aim to determine the factors that affect the selection of long-term contraceptive methods in active family planning acceptors.</span><span lang="EN">This study used a cross-sectional study design and using</span><span lang="IN"> simple random sampling</span><span lang="EN"> technique, consisted of 243 acceptors. Analyzes of data were univariate analysis, bivariate analysis using chi-square test with α = 0.05 and 95% confidence interval value, and multivariate analysis using binary logistic regression.</span><span lang="EN">Based on multivariate analysis was the variables significantly related to the selection of long-acting contraception include </span><span lang="IN">age (p = 0.01; OR = 2,24; 95% CI: 1,17-4,29), education (p = 0.01; OR = 0,31; 95% CI: 0,13-0,75) and number of children (p = 0.03; OR = 2; 95% CI: 1,05-3,81).</span><span lang="EN"> Thus, age was the variable that had the greatest impact on determining the selection of long-acting contraception.</span><span lang="IN">The </span><span lang="EN">acceptors with ≥ 35 years old, low educated and have &gt;2 children more likely to choose long-acting contraception. It is hoped that family planning workers can educate and persuade people of all ages with </span><span lang="IN">different educational backgrounds so total fertility rate can be reduce.</span>

The present investigation was conducted with 36 genotypes of mungbean on 26 agro-morphological traits including seed yield and pubescence traits to access the degree of divergence for mungbean improvement during <italic>zaid</italic> 2012. These mungbean genotypes were grouped into seven clusters. Cluster IV comprised of 14 genotypes, forming the largest cluster followed by cluster VI comprised eight genotypes, cluster I comprised seven genotypes and cluster II comprised four genotypes. Three clusters <italic>viz.</italic>, cluster III, V & VII formed mono genotypic cluster. All the pubescence traits contributed towards total divergence. Among the agro-morphological traits, high contribution towards total divergence was recorded for beak length, average intermodal length, primary branch angle with main stem, biological yield, seed yield and pods per cluster, indicated the possibility of selection of parent(s) for hybridization to manipulate the targeted trait(s) for mungbean improvement.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to present and analyze the current literature related to developing and improving the Mahalanobis-Taguchi system (MTS) and to present the shortcomings related to this method for future research. Design/methodology/approach – In this paper, articles in the literature are classified to give an overview on the MT strategy. For this purpose, 46 articles are considered for classification from 2000 to 2013 on the basis of: MTS contribution area, description of the issue, and results. Findings – In this paper a review on the concepts and operations of the MTS was provided as a new method in the field of pattern recognition, multivariable diagnosis, and forecasting. A large number of studies were performed in recent years consisting of developing MTS and MTS case studies. The analysis of the articles showed the fields of MTS which had more potential for future studies and developing. The comparison of the MTS to other methods and the selection of the normal group for constructing the Mahalanobis space have received the most attention by researchers. In addition, several studies concentrated on the use of other methods instead of design of experiments, finding applications for multiclass MTS and finding an alternative for the SN ratio. Originality/value – This paper contains the publications in the field of MTS chronologically and shows different areas for developing and case studies. It will be useful to researchers and professionals who are interested in pattern recognition, multivariate analysis, and forecasting.
