Background. The aim of this study was to assess the antibiotic resistance of S. aureus isolated from the skin of atopic dermatitis (AD) children. Materials and methods. 256 AD children were included in the study in 2014-2016. Microbiological examination of skin scraping and determination of antibiotics sensitivity were performed. Results. Staphylococcus aureus was isolated in 173 (67,6%) of 256 patients. Resistance to erythromycin was established in 64,6 and 74,6%, respectively. Retrospective analyses showed that S. aureus became more sensitive to ampicillin, ceftriaxone, ciprofloxacin but more resistant to erythromycin. Conclusion. Ceftriaxone and cefoxitin but not erythromycin and ampicillin are the drugs of choice for the treatment of atopic dermatitis complicated by secondary infection in children.

In the studies described in the article, the presence of antimicrobial activity in photosensitizers in experiments on bacterial cultures was confirmed. In the experiments, photosensitizers of the second generation were used: «Photoditazine», the active substance of which is dimeglumin chloride E6, and «Dimegin», which includes a derivative of protoporphyrin IX-2,4-di(1-methoxyethyl)- deuteroporphyrin IX disodium salt. In the described research work, the minimum concentrations of the studied drugs were determined by the method of sequential tenfold dilutions to obtain a bactericidal effect on strains of sanitary-indicative microorganisms Enterococcus faecalis, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella enteritidis.

In this study frozen-thawed rainbow trout (Onchorhynchus mykiss) and seabass (Dicentrarchus labrax) fillets were used for preparing of dry fermented fish sausages. The total mesophilic aerob bacteria (TMAB), total psychrophilic aerob bacteria (TPAB), yeast–mould (YM), lactic acid bacteria (LB), Enterobactericeae (EB), Staphylococcus aureus (SA) changes of these dry fermented sausages were examined in the refrigerated storage at 6-8˚C. At the end of the storage period of 90 days, the results of the TMAB, TPAB, YM, LB, EB and SA counts of dry fermented seabass sausages were determined as 6.25, 7.01, 3.61, 5.31, <1.0 ve <1.0 log cfu/g, while, TMAB, TPAB, YM, LB, EB and SA counts of dry fermented trout sausages were found as 6.57, 7.20, 4.44, 5.14, <1.0 ve <1.0 log cfu/g, respectively. In this study both fermented fish sausages were determined as too much dried and exceeded the microbiological limit of TMAB at the end of the storage period of 90 days in the refrigerator. However, fermented seabass sausage reached the maximum level of YM count on the 10th day of storage, whereas fermented trout sausage reached this level on the 30th day of storage. Therefore, it is suggested that they should be packaged in vacuum packaging because of preventing too much drying and the growth of undesirable moulds. Additionally, the identification of microorganisms in fermented fish sausages would also be advised to determine desirable and undesirable microorganisms. Dry fermented fish sausage would be an alternative product to traditional dry fermented meat sausage in Turkey because of the health benefits of fish.

Abstract Objective: Lack of ideal mathematical models to qualify and quantify both pathogenicity, and virulence is a dreadful setback in development of new antimicrobials and vaccines against resistance pathogenic microorganisms. Hence, the modified arithmetical formula of Reed and Muench has been integrated with other formulas and used for determination of antigen concentration and parasites inoculums that would kill 50% of test animals (LC50).Results: Microorganisms’ antigens tested are Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumonia, Pseudomonas aeruginosa in mice and rat, Edwardsiella ictaluri, Aeromonas hydrophila, Aeromonas veronii in fish, New Castle Disease virus in chicken, Sheep Pox Virus, Foot-and-Mouth Disease Virus and Hepatitis A virus in vitro, respectively. The LC50s for the pathogens using different routes of administrations are 1.93 x 103 (sheep poxvirus) and 1.75 x 1010 for Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC29213) in rat respectively. N is the number of vaccine dose that could neutralize the LC50.Titre index (TI) equals N log10 LC50 and provides protection against lethal dose in graded fashion which translates to protection index. Hence, parasite inoculum of 103 to 1011 could be used as basis for median lethal dose (LD50), LC50 and median bacterial concentrations (BC50) determination, pathogenic dose for immune stimulation should be sought at concentrations less than LC10.

We studied the frequency of occurrence and concentration of allergen-specific IgE antibodies (asIgE) to enterotoxins A, B, C and TSST-1 of Staphylococcus aureus and Malassezia spp. in the serum of children with atopic dermatitis in the acute period of the disease. The determination of asIgE levels was performed in 84 children aged from 5 months to 17 years using the immunochemiluminescent method on the UniCAP 100 analyzer (Phadia, Sweden). The level of asIgE was evaluated on a scale of 6 classes.The sensitization to S. aureus enterotoxins was detected in 29 children with аsIgE concentration from 0.35 to 25.8 kU/L (I–IV classes). In 16 children were observed 8 polysensitization options to S. aureus allergens. Combinations of asIgE to A + B and A + B + C enterotoxins were most common – in every fourth and fifth child,respectively. Sensitization to Malassezia spp. was observed in 41 children with concentration from 0.38 to 98.9 KU/L (I–V classes). Polysensitization to both S. aureus and Malassezia spp. allergens was observed in one of two children. A higher degree of sensitisation to Malassezia spp allergens has been established compared to S. aureus.Conclusion. To improve the specific diagnostics of atopic dermatitis, it is advisable to examine the serum for a complete panel of recombinant S. aureus enterotoxins in combination with the determination of asIgE to Malassezia spp.
